  1. I love it!!! But someone plucked poor Frankie....either that or he needs some Theropod Formula Rogaine. He should look like this: However, bald though he may be, his message is right on.
  2. Man, Kelly, I'm sorry. That sucks. But you have the exact right outlook....it's a learning experience. We've all had those disappointing, painful learning experiences in our lives and those are often the ones we learn the most from.
  3. That IS a good one, GBrad. I can see the Rex now. You can even see his rocking feather mullet!
  4. The U.S. Mint has been screwing up for a long time and doing very stupid things. This was their chance to do something great and they screwed it up on many fronts. The privy marks are my big issue, but the overall appearance is very bland and, as you said, grey looking. I've only seen the privy marked ones, so I can only comment on those. Maybe since the D and S coins were actually struck at those mints and aren't just Philly coins with a fake mint mark, maybe they'll look better. I've noticed that D mint circulation coins actually tend to look nicer than Philly ones.......maybe this will hold true for the Morgans. There's still the Peace Dollar as well......maybe they did a better job there, too. But I will say this....I think they missed some opportunities by only striking the Peace at Philly and doing no West Point coins. Though I don't really collect U.S. coins, I am a native New Yorker. I really would have been on board with a 2021 W Peace or Morgan Dollar and I would have been in the market then. In 2016, I did buy one of the Standing Liberty Quarters because of the W mint mark. I freely admit it. It's one of the only U.S. coins I own and I really do love it.
  5. I'm just seeing a heavily corroded, regular old 1961-D Cent. That sucker's had a bad life.
  6. Definite fake, Jimbo. You're right on about that.
  7. I'm definitely not a fan of the whole privy mark thing, but I think that the fake mint mark ones on the Morgans are even worse than the WW2 one. The Morgan is an iconic coin.....anyone remotely involved with coins knows them and knows what one should look like, and that extends to the mint marks, too. Those privy marks are just sad, and no substitute for the mint marks on the originals. The Carson City and New Orleans Mints don't exist anymore and haven't for well over a century in both cases. I'd say that if they couldn't actually strike coins there nor find some kind of a legal loophole to put those actual mint marks on the coins, they should have just done P,D,S and W. While I know that West Point played no role in the Morgan Dollar's history, at least they could have put a real mint mark on a Morgan struck by them and not a goofy privy mark that looks like an egg with a letter or letters incused into it.
  8. I think your scale has to be off.....a copper Lincoln Cent wouldn't have zinc rot, which your coin clearly does. You either need to recalibrate your scale or to get a new one.
  9. I'm not seeing anything special here. It just looks like regular old 1973 cent to me.
  10. Wow!!! I did not know that Conder.....that's some big news!! How'd I miss that?
  11. Indeed it will. This will definitely serve to give the Type 2 AGEs even more attention. Nice find.
  12. I don't know how he'd feel about being called a hillbilly....but maybe he'd like it. Or maybe he was more of a punk dinosaur. But since he looks like this now, I don't think we need to worry about upsetting him. A six-mile wide meteor cleaned him with some Goof-Off long, long ago:
  13. Hi again guys!!! Now that I've shaken the cobwebs out of my brain, I'm still going to go with Great Collections. I really like them and Ian and the team do one hell of a job photographing and promoting your coins. They have a great sell through rate. I'd definitely trust Ian to do a great job.....if he can get some of the weird stuff I've sent to him over the years to sell for great prices, I'm certain he can really work magic with some nice CC gold!! ~Tom
  14. For people seeking a 1982-D copper small date, I would certainly agree with that statement. As for me, I'd rather find the Tyrannosaurus. However, in New York, I'd be more likely to find a Tyrannosaurus' Eastern cousin Appalachiosaurus. T. Rex was an animal of Western North America.. Here's an Appalachiosaurus Isn't his feather mohawk spectacular?
  15. I've seen some photos and while I know that's no substitute for having the coin in hand, I'd say Kurt is right. There's something about the 2021s that is quite unappealing. They just don't look right and I think if they were to be put side by side with 1878-1921 Morgans, they'd stand out like a sore thumb. The worst part about them to me is actually those "CC" and "O" privy marks......man, do those look stupid!!
  16. I'm with Jonathan and Kurt, The 76 CC is definitely a fake and the dime is simply plated. And Jonathan is also correct about not giving out details on how we can tell it's a fake.....these boards are watched by counterfeiters and we don't want to give them any help. But the chances of ever having a genuine 76 CC that just randomly turns up are very, very slim. Genuine pieces are outnumbered by fakes to a massive degree.
  17. Here's my dirty little slab secret. I actually like these ANACS slabs that everyone seems to hate, on a purely aesthetic level, of course:
  18. No problem, Belita.....it's what we're here for.
  19. Indeed it did not!! But it's a cool piece to have in your collection. Very nice.
  20. Or a little paprika. A little paprika can work some real magic
  21. I'm an eBay seller and I don't juice my pics nor dip my coins. In fact, my pics are about as unjuiced as can be.....they're taken with an old school Kodak digital camera. Maybe I should get an upgrade, but I like my little old camera. Most coins that I sell for any kind of higher amount are NGC certified and I accept returns for 30 days for any reason and I pay to have returns shipped to me, so they cost buyers nothing. There are a few of us good guys left on there, my friend
