Talk about embarassing

I really wish that this website wouldn't try to think for you. I just won a Panda on eBay yesterday, and was curious to see how many points it might be, so I tried entering the Cert# for it into my set, even though the listing said that might not be the one you get. I know, impetuous... but I was curious. If the coin I received was not the same, I would've removed it from my set and added the correct one. Anyway, I got an error message back saying that the coin was registered to somebody else,

Albums Are Still Great Fun

I will always be working on 1 or 2 album sets Like many numismatists I started my collecting with an album/folder. It was actually 2 seperate folders for lincoln cents, one with dates from 1909-1940 and the other with dates from 1941-present {which was about 1975 then}. I can still see my youthful -script of putting the dates under the undated holes for the late 70's years as they were released. I am an enthusiastic registry collector...in fact it has revitalized my passion for coins. I lov

Collecting is fun for everyone?

Re: Is collecting fun for the rich? First off let me say I am do not think I fall into the catagory of "rich". At any rate, I beleive that collecting is fun for everyone no matter how much they can spend on coins or have invested in coins. I would imagine when they started collecting they were not "rich". They are fun. Coins are fun to collect and look at. Keep it that way and pass your wisedom on to kids so this wonderful hobby can keep going. You can even make donations to certain places. I know that when I grow older I will share my knowledge with the young kids to get them interested in coins. If there isn't a next generation behind you then the hobby will just die off and the hobby you used to love won't be there anymore. Teah the next generation so they can do the same.

Eating Away the Profits

Dealers have a hard life... Dealers have to always be at coin shows and are there the whole day. So they need food and drinks. Well if they pay for it there they are paying a lot of money and they have to pay table fees. If they go to bigger shows that are multiple days they have to pay for airfare and hotel. People think that dealers are crazy when they have to make alot of money on one coin but they have to pay a lot of money for everything and they need to make a living to.

Just wait a little while and get it cheaper. I have been collecting coins for around 12 years now, and believe me I still have a lot to learn about this mesmerizing hobby. What a Joke! This is Crazy!

First Strike examples are pathetic... and so is modern coinage. I recently talked to a guy who bought a MS 67 Handshake Medal for 10 cents. He put the coin on Ebay and got about a $120 after all the fees. People are going crazy over this high grade common stuff. He also said that he talked to another guy that bought an American Eagle in a First Strike holder and the guy paid $180 for it. True Collectors

They never stop! True hard core collectores never stop collecting. They might slow down for a while in the spring and summer because material is hard to find and there is always nice weather. I wonder what's up ?

They cannot even get IN to receiving... Last week I sent in my latest submission to NGC. According to the USPS, delivery confirmed monday morning. It is now late afternoon wednesday, and nothing showing in NGC's system. I called and was told they have not finished mondays mail yet. I just didn't think it was that difficult to open a box, verify contents and put information into the computer. If it takes three plus days just to open the box, how long will it actually take to get the coins gra

First Spouse Coins

First Spouse Coins over subscribed. The US Mint announced within a couple of hours of the First Spouse coins going sale that they were over subscribed. Well, I did place my order before the announcement was made. Hopefully, I'll be one of the lucky ones this time around. Today the mint's page shows these coins as being unavailable. If I am lucky to receive my First Spouses it won't be until after July 4. More to come later.

I Need Help! I'm a new member to the society, but about 4 months ago, i started buying Morgan Silver Dollars on Ebay, and got taken to the cleaners a few times, on ungraded NOT CARSON CITY MORGANS! And even the Statehood Quarters I think the Presidential Dollar is over valued (even the errors). If you collect them, all the more power to ya. I just prefer the older coins. I have proof sets, and will eventually get them certified NGC, but purchased them for the Statehood Quarters. Alot of people I know collect the quarters, but they collect the pocket change ones. The Presidental Dollars are Starting to get pathetic....

Plain Edge, Ridiculous. They also found a new error on the Adams Dollar, could this one actually be worth something? The Presidental Dollars are starting to get out of control. People are paying extra money because the coins don't have letting on the the edges of the rim(PLain Edge). If you got the recent Coin World they think they found what caused the extra leaf, OR DID THEY? If you got the recent Coin World they think they found what caused the extra leaf. Why won't anybody pay for nice coins? In order to buy nice premium coins you see and say I wish I had that coin you have to pay a lot over greysheet for them sometimes. AS lot of people don't understand this. If you truley like the coin your not going to sell it right away, your going to keep it for a while. Boring getting whatever you please? People always want to be rich but what is the point of being rich when most of the rich aren't happy. They always have to compete with each other and never be happy that they're rich. Things can't be fun when you get everything you want after a while.
