Talk about embarassing

I really wish that this website wouldn't try to think for you. I just won a Panda on eBay yesterday, and was curious to see how many points it might be, so I tried entering the Cert# for it into my set, even though the listing said that might not be the one you get. I know, impetuous... but I was curious. If the coin I received was not the same, I would've removed it from my set and added the correct one. Anyway, I got an error message back saying that the coin was registered to somebody else,

Albums Are Still Great Fun

I will always be working on 1 or 2 album sets Like many numismatists I started my collecting with an album/folder. It was actually 2 seperate folders for lincoln cents, one with dates from 1909-1940 and the other with dates from 1941-present {which was about 1975 then}. I can still see my youthful -script of putting the dates under the undated holes for the late 70's years as they were released. I am an enthusiastic registry collector...in fact it has revitalized my passion for coins. I lov

Collecting is fun for everyone?

Re: Is collecting fun for the rich? First off let me say I am do not think I fall into the catagory of "rich". At any rate, I beleive that collecting is fun for everyone no matter how much they can spend on coins or have invested in coins. I would imagine when they started collecting they were not "rich". They most likely started collecting because a family memeber introduced them to it when they were yound and had little money to spend on coins. They possibly continued collecting as they beca

Coins

They are fun. Coins are fun to collect and look at. Keep it that way and pass your wisedom on to kids so this wonderful hobby can keep going. You can even make donations to certain places. I know that when I grow older I will share my knowledge with the young kids to get them interested in coins. If there isn't a next generation behind you then the hobby will just die off and the hobby you used to love won't be there anymore. Teah the next generation so they can do the same.

Eating Away the Profits

Dealers have a hard life... Dealers have to always be at coin shows and are there the whole day. So they need food and drinks. Well if they pay for it there they are paying a lot of money and they have to pay table fees. If they go to bigger shows that are multiple days they have to pay for airfare and hotel. People think that dealers are crazy when they have to make alot of money on one coin but they have to pay a lot of money for everything and they need to make a living to.

Washington & Adams error dollars.

Just wait a little while and get it cheaper. I have been collecting coins for around 12 years now, and believe me I still have a lot to learn about this mesmerizing hobby. I just recently learned on the 2007 Presidential Dollars Coins, when the errors have occured, there are thousands, it seems. I purchased three rimless George Washington coins, i paid $360 for the first one. $302 for the second, and amazingly i held out for a while and got the third for only $100. now ungraded you can get the

FOR WHAT IT`S WORTH

MY TWO CENTS WORTH........ Back in 1985 some of my friends that also were coin collectors ask me to get into collecting baseball cards. I said, baseball cards? Are you crazy. Who wants to collect baseball cards? I have these beautiful old coins. Back in 1985 there were a lot of new rookie players that are now super star like(Roger Clemens). So as you can guess I didn`t get into collecting baseball cards. Well 1989 rolled around and a new baseball company came on the scene called UPP

PUNCH

No, not the cigar and not the boxing ring kind.... The question I've been asking myself lately is " Does the coin have PUNCH ?? "Does the coin have Punch?Does it come out at you?Or, when you look at it, do you melt?Is it a pleasure to hold in hand?Is it different from the rest? You get the drift. So, if you're looking for coins with PUNCH...how can you assemble an entire set of PUNCH happy coins???If you did, then WHERE is the PUNCH????Isn't it lost???Just a question I ask.Can you assemble a coll

What a Joke! This is Crazy!

First Strike examples are pathetic... and so is modern coinage. I recently talked to a guy who bought a MS 67 Handshake Medal for 10 cents. He put the coin on Ebay and got about a $120 after all the fees. People are going crazy over this high grade common stuff. He also said that he talked to another guy that bought an American Eagle in a First Strike holder and the guy paid $180 for it. When the guy asked the man I talked to how much would he pay for it, he said $14.The guy that had the coin

True Collectors

They never stop! True hard core collectores never stop collecting. They might slow down for a while in the spring and summer because material is hard to find and there is always nice weather. But, they are always looking for new pieces to add to their collection. Then there are just collectors that look during the winter which is fine, they like coins but aren't as enthusiastic like the people who look all the time. I know I am a enthusiastic collector that never stops looking and can't get e

I wonder what's up ?

They cannot even get IN to receiving... Last week I sent in my latest submission to NGC. According to the USPS, delivery confirmed monday morning. It is now late afternoon wednesday, and nothing showing in NGC's system. I called and was told they have not finished mondays mail yet. I just didn't think it was that difficult to open a box, verify contents and put information into the computer. If it takes three plus days just to open the box, how long will it actually take to get the coins gra

First Spouse Coins

First Spouse Coins over subscribed. The US Mint announced within a couple of hours of the First Spouse coins going sale that they were over subscribed. Well, I did place my order before the announcement was made. Hopefully, I'll be one of the lucky ones this time around. Today the mint's page shows these coins as being unavailable. If I am lucky to receive my First Spouses it won't be until after July 4. More to come later.

A SBA's Wide Rim Journey

No Respect for one Susan B Anthony dollar coin My life and times for me is a dark and unrespectful journey. I was first born with several other millions just like me. Except early on, my creator had decided to recreate me to be more pleasing to the beholder and make my rim larger. To me I think my cousins looked just fine the way they were. I had been given a special status....or least my creator called me special. Along the way, we were all given homes, some in nice warm cloth homes and

I owe it all to you...

Thanks, your the best. I know it all to you dad. I know we don't agree all the time and sometimes argue but your the best. If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be where I was now. You introduced me to coins. I remember the first coin show we went together and I had to keep asking you for help and things that the collector starting out needs help with. You do everything you can for me and I appreciate that. I hope you happy and proud of me. Happy Father's Day,dad!

Presidential Dollars

And even the Statehood Quarters I think the Presidential Dollar is over valued (even the errors). If you collect them, all the more power to ya. I just prefer the older coins. I have proof sets, and will eventually get them certified NGC, but purchased them for the Statehood Quarters. Alot of people I know collect the quarters, but they collect the pocket change ones. They seem to enjoy it, and thats what counts. I think that the Prez dollars will go down slightly in value, but they will even

The Presidental Dollars are Starting to get pathetic....

Plain Edge, Ridiculous. They also found a new error on the Adams Dollar, could this one actually be worth something? The Presidental Dollars are starting to get out of control. People are paying extra money because the coins don't have letting on the the edges of the rim(PLain Edge). This just another one of those trends where the coins get to out of control and there are so many out there that people won't care about them anymore and they won't be worth any money. They found a few problems wi

Breaking News in the Wisconsin Extra Leaf Quarter!

If you got the recent Coin World they think they found what caused the extra leaf, OR DID THEY? If you got the recent Coin World they think they found what caused the extra leaf. The think by accident the obverse was punched on the reverse and the extra leaf is Wahington's hair. But they said it was punched on before the reverse design was already on the coin. The extra leaf looks like it was punched oo and the extra leaf looks weird and doesn't look like it could have gotten on the coin the w

Todays Market

Why won't anybody pay for nice coins? In order to buy nice premium coins you see and say I wish I had that coin you have to pay a lot over greysheet for them sometimes. AS lot of people don't understand this. If you truley like the coin your not going to sell it right away, your going to keep it for a while. I bought a 1834(PCGS AU58) Bust Quarter this falland paid $1000 a little over sheet at the time. Two weeks later the guy who sold it to me asked if I would sell the coin back to him for $1

Collecting not fun for richer people?

Boring getting whatever you please? People always want to be rich but what is the point of being rich when most of the rich aren't happy. They always have to compete with each other and never be happy that they're rich. Things can't be fun when you get everything you want after a while. For most people up to a little better than average coin collecting is fun because you have to save and then when you finally reach your goal after all that time it is satisfying, I know it is for me. When your
