1st attempt
Just sending my 1st set of coins to NGC for certification. I have several cross over coins and 1 07 Rev MS69(redesignation) and 1 1909 S VDB Lincoln Cent to get a grade on. I am hoping that the 09 comes back at least MS45! I will keep the group updated as soon as they come back (or I check online).
I hope it doesn't take 3 months for them to be finished!

Just back from the holy land (NGC).
..This is the latest addition to my FIRST DAY of MINTAGE collection.
..Don't you think NGC and the people who work there are doing just a Great job. The amount of submitions they get when there is a new release must be mind blooging!
As many of you know I am greatly interested in what becomes of the Rev of 2007....
well I emailed NGC about it and here is the response I received:
"The relative rarity of Reverse of 2007 coins versus Reverse of 2008 coins has not yet been established. NGC will report the newly discovered variety in the NGC Census. Once this is determined, we may create a separate slot for the 2008 W Reverse of 2007 S$1."
So they are taking a kind of wait and see approach right now and I can respect that
Yes, I agree with you 100%
I believe there is going to be a slot for the 2008W w/Rev of 2007 pretty soon. I wonder why some of the registries have so called errors when others don't ( look at the Lincoln cent 1909 to date , it has slots for all the double dies) also they just updated the Jefferson Wartime nickels( added a slot for the 1943/2P nickel)
I know they can't add slots for every error out there, but they should add slots for the most historical ones.
I wish they would add slots
Looks like I got alot to learn.
My first batch consisted of 10 Morgans that were suppose to grade MS63 or higher. This was only an oral statement made by the emcee of the show. Of those ten only one fit the statement. I had one score at MS64. The others consist of 2 improperly cleaned, 3 AU58, 1 MS62 and 3 MS61's. I would have to say that that's not even close.
I believe I learned a couple of lessons from this. My thoughts going in were that since 6 of the coins were of the same date and wit
Collecting Presidential Dollars is not for the faint of heart!
The coin varieties and lack of quality coming from the mint has made for some interesting collecting. Many of the coins are coming out of the unopened bricks with many nicks and marks. High grade coins do not come easy. So, Let the hunting begin!
And we have years of this to come!
Cal Gold and 1886 MS61 gold on it's way!
I struggled for some time, trying to buy the right items, getting a decant deal, sending items into be graded only to find them returned as damaged, or incorrect type, etc,, then I sent my items to NCS, the same items previously not graded by the other top 2, ended up getting cleaned properly, graded, and slabbed, and to my surprise high grades,, I am now sending all of my items to NCS, this way, coins graded by those other companies, that attempt to cl
A 1922 P Peace Dollar MS 63 and a 2007 non-burnished Early Release MS 69 Silver Eagle!!
Greetings!!
I am "back in the game" somewhat as i just acquired a 1922 P Peace Dollar MS 63 for $31 and a 2007 ER non burnished MS 69 Silver Eagle for $19.75. I feel like a got a GRRRRRRRREAT deal on the silver eagle...did so-so on the Peace Dollar.
They are on their way, I should have them in my registry next week sometime. FEELS GOOD TO BE BACK!!
Have a great day!!
...and I must enter a teaser....sheesh! I couldn't submit it unless I put something here!
Is it allowed to list the same coin in two different registries? Let's say that I had a Lincoln proof that I wanted in my proof registry, but then I also have a Lincoln cent registry going on as well. Could I list the same coin in both?
Received On 5-1, Quality control on 5-10, shipped on 5-12, to me that is 8 working day Unless NGC works on Saturday then its 10 still faster the projected turn around.
The best graded submission for me to date. 12 coins sent in. the grading was split 50-50 6 MS70 6 MS69 and best of all my 1994 50th an.WWII unc Silver Dollar got a 70
My Peace dollar up grade was the one I talked about earlier 1922 MS64 to a MS65 Looks very nice.
There is going to be a large Coin Show this week end At t
I learned a new word today.
One way I justify (to myself, and to my wife) spending time on coin websites such as the Collectors? Society website is that it is ?educational.? While it is hard to justify all of the time I spend on the Internet looking at coins, I now have positive proof that it is educational.
I learned a new word today ? Ephemera! In case you are not familiar with the meaning of this word, it is defined as?items of collectible memorabilia, typically written or printed ones,
Do other people see this as an important coin or just a mistake...
Granted I am fairly new to the hobby, but I truly believe this coin will be important. In the 20+ years of the ASE program we have never seen something like this and I think it will be a long time before we see something like this again. I know some people think it is an error and shouldn't have its own slot in the registry, but if that is your argument then NGC should remove slots for such coins as the 1878 Morgan with the R
THE BUFFALOS ARE LOOSE!
ON THE US MINT WEBSITE LISTED UNDER PRODUCT SCHEDULE, THE MINT HAS SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE IN JULY/AUGUST AMERICAN BUFFALO GOLD UNCIRCULATED COINS. WE ALL KNOW THE BULLION GOLD BUFFALO HAS BEEN OUT FOR MONTHS AND SO HAS THE UNCIRCULATED "CELEBRATION" GOLD BUFFALO. IS THE MINT GETTING READY TO RELEASE FRACTIONAL GOLD BUFFALOS SIMILAR TO THE GOLD AMERICAN EAGLE SERIES. I SAY YES. AND THEN I THINK THIS YEAR OR NEXT YEAR WILL BE THE END OF THE GOLD AMERICAN EAGLE SERIES. THE
My Economy submission, received 3/24 just went to Finalized/Imaged/Shipped
Man, what a letdown. I sent in a 1954 Proof Set, and didn't expect much, but I expected better than what I got. The dime got Body Bagged, and nothing graded better than a PF67. Sigh...
Like I said, I didn't expect much, but I had high hopes for the Lincoln in the set. I thought it was pretty sharp, but I guess the experts thought otherwise.
One thing I did learn, though. I won't be using Economy again until those tu
Pricing is getting better
Hi. Just started shopping around for 07 Rev. and I see that the pricing is starting to come down a little bit. 70's are dropping down by 10% but 69's are still steep in price. Is this coin going to be a white elephant or will it actually turn out to be a worthwhile investment? It's anyone's guess. Any comments, please let me know what the community thinks.
NGC MS69 2008 W Silver Eagle Rev 0f 2007 Early Release even!
This Silver Eagle on eBay has been bid up to $390 with a bit more than 3 hours left in the auction. Ended at $490. Item number 130220671791.
I was worried that I paid too much at $202. Now, I wonder if I should sell mine while the price is high? Will it keep going up or will it go down? I should have bought 2 then it would be a no brainer!!!
This is the 2007 Reverse of my 2008 coin.
Time to Think!!
According to everthing I read, the 2008 Sacagewea could not be minted because of a glitch in the law. Finally the Law was ammended for production. Well I ordered two rolls last week and one has a 4/08 date, but the other has a 1/08 date. Does this mean that the mint produced these coins before authorization. After seeing the 2008 W silver eagle with the 2007 reverse, who is minding the mint?
This brings me to another question - Wasn't the 2006 reverse the same as the 2007 o
Does anyone know if NGC is going to add a slot for the 2008 W Eagle Rev of 07?
I have one of both and would like to be able to list them both, Rev 07 and Rev 08.
The plan is to acquire a coin a month..
Of course like many plans this will probably be derailed before long. But at any rate I will try to attach a picture of this months addition. It is a 1849 50c, NGC AU-58. It has nice russet and blue toning but the blue doesn't show up in the picture. I have a lot of learning to do in the photographic end.
maybe sooner than later!!
Greetings!!
Well, I have been monitering the comings and goings here for the past few weeks and have not had anything really new to contribute as I have been steadily paying off credit cards so that I may be able to afford more coins and grading services towards the end of the year.
At the same time I have been in a job situation that promised me more money and benefits but has fallen wayyyyyy short on both fronts, so you might say this has been a bit of a str
I'm making a few assumptions, but if true, then Collector's Society could do this.
Given that The Collector's Society has a huge responsibility in processing a large number of valuable items, I would assume that they have the ability to be able to tell EXACTLY where a given collectible is at any point in time.
If that assumption is correct, then what I'd like to see is a little bit more integration between their Inventory Control system and the Website, so that you or I, as the owners of the
should this be a recognized and listed variety for the 59 to present set?
There were 1 million promotional Cheerio's Lincolns distributed. This is a significant number to my way of thinking. Should a slot be added to the Memorial sets for this variety? What is your opinion?
