I lost 371 points!!
It's seem that there has been an adjustment to the point score in the modern comms proof sets. The 2006 Ben Franklin Scientist and 2006 San Francisco Old Mint took a hit yesterday. I lost a total of 371 points. These are the only coins out of the 35 that I have registered that show a change....downward. Nothing went up.

My raw gold are still sitting in QC
Well its been a few days now since NGC received my raw gold submissions from a major auction house, im as impatient as they come so have been checking & checking & checking...still to no avail. But i have a feeling today is the day! my fingers are crossed and i have a good feeling about the coins...anyway once the submission is back ill let everyone know what the grades are...its always good to know where you can get accuratly graded raw coins at au
A beautiful coin!
..When I received the Welsh Dragon, I was surprised at how small it was. One pound looked bigger, but I've like this series. After all it is from England and that's where my family came from, so I now have coins from the mother country.
..NOTE TO: S & D Collection. I tried to answer your message, but you have blocked us from contacting you!
Have A Great Day
One more!
I got one of two remaining BTW's today. Well I paid for it anyway. hehe
I picked up a MS66 1949 BTW and all I need now is a 1951D BTW and my BTW's are done with all graded MS65-66. Now it's getting exciting.
I apologise for how long I expect this will be...
I love the lincoln cents. I hope to have a very nice set of them one of these days. I have what some have pointed out as being some rather tough grade standards for the set but that just means the set will take longer to build and be better in the end.
Almost ever since I got my first certified cent and started down the path of building this set I've wanted a nice certified 1943 steel cent, only MS66s or MS67s would do and in truth it was the
Hard time getting my 2007 MS70 SAE
For the last 3 days I have been trying to get an 07 SAE at MS70 for my collection. And I am always losing the auction in the last few seconds. I really don't mind the sniping...hell I have done it few times myself. But for this particular coin...I am getting hammered. I lost about a dozen auctions in the last 3 days. There seems to be a bit of demand for this beauty. So the gloves are coming off and it's time to get "down and dirty" !!
I will let you know h

How long do moderns take in QC? I realize that they are probably up to their necks in ASE's but how much longer do I have to wait? I know that by the

NGC is the greatest!
A couple of weeks ago I posted my first submissions to NGC and my humble opinion of each, to my surprise I've calibrated my eye to be a bit tough!

New territory.
..Hey Mates, The "Welsh Dragon" is the newest coin in my collection, and will be taking me into new territory, the "Signature Set"! When I came across this coin, I was thinking my youngest son will love it! So I bid on it and won. You know me, one is not enough, there is a whole series to pursue.
..The "Welsh Dragon". The dragon which appears on the badage and flag of Wales, is a potent expression of the strength, fire and spirit of the national character and its depiction on
just how much truth can I expect?
So I was in the coin shop again, and I saw a small gold coin that I asked to look at closer. (I don't have any gold in my collection yet, btw.) Looking closely at it, I realized it was a 2003 mint piece, in a square red shell and a COA from a third party. I asked what the point was of a COA from someone other than the maker of the coin, and the shop guy told me that unless a coin has its COA it gets a lower price, and on newer sets, the shop refuses to buy Pro
I buy them by the bag when my local Dealer gets them in. He buys them for 1 1/2 cents each and I buy them from him for 2 1/4 cents each.
When I get done with them I turn around and sell off what I don't keep for 2 or 3 cents each depending on what the date mix is. Just recently I bought two bags--about 10,000 Wheats. There have not been very many early dates (pre 1940)in this batch but there have been quite a few varieties so far. I sit in my living room chair in the evenings and go through th
Roll searching is an cheap way to feed an addiction.
I too find this relaxing and a stress reducer. Searching pennies can be very rewarding as well, as many varieties are known for recent years - Wide AM's from 1998-2000, doubled dies, etc. This week alone I've found a handful of wheats dating back to 1930 and a 2000 wide AM Lincoln. I won't get rich doing this, but it is a cheap way to stay involved with my favorite past time. At times I branch out into nickels, dimes, quarters and halves (wh
I'm glad I'm not the only one
I go to the bank twice a week for pennies usually $20 at a crack I also find wheat pennies and even a couple of Ihp's. I save all the copper and won't tell how many rolls I have put away. I have rolls of 59-74 that I keep separate from the 75-82 and I give back the zinc 82's and up. The 82's are hard to tell apart so if I'm not sure I get rid of them. I can pretty much tell by looking at the color which ones are 81 and below so I start by separating them by color
Neverman doesn't know the half of it.
I have always loved some of the topics that Neverman has picked for his journal entries but when he talked about spending 2 dollars to get 4 rolls of pennies to search through I laughed my rear end off... but in a good way.
Last year, just about everytime I was on vacation I would spend time (sometimes entire weeks) going to the bank, getting one of those $25 boxes of pennies (50 rolls) and spend the next 4/5 hours searching through pennies. I would then
my second submition on raw coins from a large auction house.
Well here they sit at the infamous Quality Control, i have paid for express & photo as from past experiences i get the photos before the grade is put up anywhere...the only reason i pay the $3 geez im inpatient...anyway my first submission of a single 1886 morgan dollar in which the auction house( not sure if i can mention names here but its starts with an s....s and is one of the oldest firms im sure everyone can work that out..
i recently seen a person post a cheerios lincoln with an amusing story with it.
Im sure a few of the people out there read the 3 most recent journals and seen the gentlemen with a cherios lincoln in an NGC slab with his own pedigree on it Memmott collection...i am wondering does NGC do this for anyone or is it just for certain rankings etc? this made me delve a little deeper and seen that particular memmott collection is quite vast and they rank in the top 100 overall...is that what i have to
...and the dirty looks that ensued...
So, I had a (not so) brilliant idea of getting a couple of rolls of 2008 pennies from the bank to hold on to since the Mint is going to change up the design next year to comemmorate the 100th year of the Lincoln penny.
I went to the 1st bank and asked "do you have rolls of new 2008 pennies?" and the LOOK that came back my way was one of both "HUH?" and "OH MY GOD!! IS HE GONNA ROB ME???"
So, obviously the answer was a very confused "no" at bank numbe
its starting to get out of control...my addiction to star graded gold coins!
Im not sure if anyone else out there is collecting these little gems like i am but im starting to spend way way way to much money. The upside i think is that these star graded coins generally have a very low population with a large number with only one example...but will star grades stay popular? are they popular? im lucky enough to own a few of these pop 1 coins with my latest purchase a 1891cc ms61* the only star gr
This hobby is getting to be more expensive than a person hooked on crack

Another nice return from NGC.
..I've not been focused on this series. When I first started it, I read a couple of articles from our most knowledgeable collectors. Take your time and look for the best deal.
..I'm building my collection for my family, when they receive a coin they are very happy. Our extended family is very interested in my collection and it is a big hit at our annual family reunion. When the family is happy, I"m happy!!
..NGC has been doing a great job in trying to meet an
The BTW's are almost done!
Well I got 3 more BTW's in the mail yesterday and now I just need two more. I still need the 1949 and the 1951-D. If anyone reading this has either for sale in grade MS65 or better and want to part with them, well be sure to contact me. :-) Also I'm looking for some BTW related paraphenailla (sp?) like the documentation advertising it or the like.
Thanks to anyone contacting me about this!
