Missing the Excitement lately!!

I wish.... I wish I had enough money to get my Silver Eagle set completed sooner than later. I go to my registry and see all these empty slots, and just YEARN to get the slots filled. THEN there's the Silver Eagle Proof slots, too. Patience is easy when you need MONEY to get these things done!! There are so many coins out there, though. It can make you crazy when you realize there is far too many things to take in, all the while the "numismania" is grabbing you by the THROAT and DEM

A change of course

Going to try something a bit different! I have decided to change a bit on what I am going to do with my collection. I was going to start submitting my state quarters to get graded but have decided to put that on hold for a while and stick with getting coins for my SAE (proof and MS) and modern commemoratives. I will stick with getting slabbed coins for my SAE but I am going to try something a bit different with the commemoratives. Instead of slabbed coins, I have been able to get some awesom

Iceland 1940 2 Kronur Won on Ebay

Came in the mail today and the refund for the other I won a Iceland 2 Kronur coin a few weeks ago and when i received it in the mail last week it looked not so good, maybe it was some kind of scan that made it look so much better then it really was and to mention how good i thought it might be i payed nearly 80 dollars for it, krause book list it at $15. Well saw another one last week that i liked and the seller took a real good pic's of this coin and what i liked about this one was it looked

Lincoln Fanatic - 1909 VDB

Not the king, but close in MS 66 RD Bought this from a dealer at a local coin show from what he purported to be an original BU roll. Incidentally, while I was perusing the entire stack of 40 coins, he had already selected 10 coins for submission, another dealer skoffed at the original roll idea and said these coins weren't worth $10 a piece. A very unprofessional thing to do to another dealer, but some small satisfaction knowing he was completely wrong and an id--t as I thought he might be...

"NICE RETURN"

2007 Canada Proof Set ..Well, I received my Canda Proof Set from NGC today, I knew what the grades were last week. The grades I've received on the Canada coins are sure differnt than I receive on U.S. coins. ..On the U.S. proof sets, most of the time grades are 69 or 70, with a 68 once in awhile. Canada are anywhere from 67 to 70, go figure. ..With the errors the U.S. Mint has been turning out, I find it hard to believe they are the best!

Still waiting for presidents

34 covers are still scheduled.. My other invoice results were only reasonable, was hoping for more 70's but I am getting lazy and not inspecting. I sent two 100yrs Australia's First Coat of Arms and one got 70, one got 69.. I have 6 more of these I might get graded ! Orbital Sputnik got 69, and the 2008 Gilded Kookaburra got MS69.. I thought this was a proof coin! but nope, Specimen quality.. I may have to send my other two and see what they grade Anyway.. here's the full details 001 20

Creeping higher

And lower...(as the case may be) My overall Registry Points inched higher today, as I entered about 11 more coins into my sets overnight, increasing my score from approximately 309,500, to over 314,600 points. One of my happier coins was a 2008 Bald Eagle Mint State $5 Gold Piece, MS70. That's because I already had every other coin from the Bald Eagle series in 70 grade, each half dollar (proof and mint state, multiples even), each silver dollar (proof and mint state, multiples even), and a

NEW SERIES

Britannia! ..This is a new series of coins for me. Being one oz of silver, I think you can compare it with the American Silver Eagles! Looking at some other dates, the obverse and reverse hasn't remained the same each year. I like that!

GSA error coin - does anyone know how to find out population?

I have an 1880cc NGC ms63 with a obv strike through error.... A while ago i was lucky enough to pick up an 1880cc GSA morgan dollar...it was still in its original packaging ie the gsa slab and after i purchased it i had it graded......i actually thought it would be a ms60 due to the big bag mark on the obverse...little did i know(i should have looked at it more carefully) it was actually a strike through error!!! in an original GSA slab! Labelled as such by NGC i have since sought out any furt

It's GRRREAT to be a COLLECTOR!!

...and other observations... Happy weekend everyone!! I was (once again) looking through my collections of coins, comic, and baseball cards I recently acquired, and am thrilled to once again have the things that have brought me a great amount of joy and yearning over the years. I am currently looking to complete a CGC graded set of "Batman: Year One" as I feel like I got a pretty great deal on the first installment. ( See my comic registry) I am also looking to get my Silver Eagle

Won My 1929 1 Krona PCGS 63 Best Known

It was getting a little nerve racking I put a absentee bid on Ebay for the 1929 1 krona and watched it live on Ebay ready to bid again if it went over that amount i placed. The scary part was when i placed my cursor on the bid now button it went to the (I) form which, i think meant that i was not going to be able to bid again NOOOOOoooooo. But it didn't reach my maximum bid . I am truly a coin junkie I always knew i was. anyone out there got a Valium. Well I hope everyone out there has good lu

New to me Camera

The used 7.1 MP camera arrived yesterday. First shots! The Kodak z710 arrived and today I was out and about. I haven't had an opportunity to image any coins with it yet but here is a shot I took today out on a hike.   This photo was shot from the bottom of St Mary's Glacier in Alice, Colorado.

I got a couple of nice coins at a bargain price

Some Silver dollar commems are auctioning below melt even with shipping charges added. While searching for coins for my next submission. I found that the USO 50th aniv silver coins both unc and proof were selling for less than melt. The USO coins will fit in to my military signature set and my modern commems set. I checked the completed auction results to see what they would run and much to my surprise found that they selling for less that spot by three to four dollars. I placed a max bid on

The Coin of the Month for June

And the coin of the month is... June's coin is an 1853 Large Cent. It is graded MS 65BN by NGC. It is a uniform chocolate brown color with an excellent strike and very nice cartwheel luster. The surfaces are very smooth. About the only flaw is a tiny amount of matter on the tip of the three. I say matter because it sure doesn't look like a contact mark, rather just a little something stuck to the surface. It shows up some in the picture, but it hard to see in hand.

Coins: An excellent Wedding Present...

Beats the heck out of a Toaster! My wife and I are at that age where a lot of our contemporaries are marrying off their children, and it's always a challenge to find a good Wedding Gift. However, when we had a wedding to go to last October, I came up with the idea of giving the Newlyweds a 2007 Silver Proof Set along with a check. I thought that it would be a novel gift that would always remind them of the year of their Wedding whenever they happened to look at it. Well, as luck would have
