What about the other person?
One thing I think we tend to forget in thanking the NGC staff for handling our transfers and conflicts so quickly is the person who has the coin registered already.
Yes the staff at NGC do act very quickly to get the transfers made and we should thank them, but before they can do anything the other person claiming the coin gets an e-mail to respond. In an ideal situation this person responds quickly which enables NGC to act quickly to get the coin moved. If the p

the Cheerio's cent was a promotion used by the makers of Cheerio's to sell their products, in 2000. According to the litrature, the first 1 million cents from the mint were put into special black card stock as a method of authentication. This promotion also included the first 10,000 Sacagawea dollars, which later turned out to be a different reverse (used on the gold ones sent up into space). NGC currently encapsulates them and has a census of over 150 I beli
Website improvements
Since many of us use this site to catalog and track our coins...
I would like to start a wish list for new functions to be added to the website:
1) export capabilities of each/total collection: How about being able to export our collection lists to take with us to shows or dealers? Or even to send to your insurance agent to get coverage?Or even some way to export a want list of missing items?
2) collection value tracking: A tracker to tally total value of collections
53 and counting
Now that i maxed my my credit card with no intrest for one year ,I took out a loan to buy 20 more.I previously shared my intrest about 5 journals ago with pics of my 2 08 reverse eagles...Now I have a total of 53...I think I am done buying. So good luck to all, you can have the rest. Some of you may think i am insane, that is what my phychatrist said also.Good luck to all who buys them. These will probally never be sold to anyone else.In 60 years I will give them to my grandkids.1
Why the bad rap?
I have been reading on the chat boards lately about the 2008 with 2007 reverse SAE and it seems that most really don't care about the new variety that NGC found and comment negatively. That a population of 47,000 for a coin that is not even in circulation is no big deal. Why spend a couple hundred dollars on a coin that is way over priced! And to quote one post...."It's just an example of how many collectors are like lemmings and collect what someone else tells them to collect
Beware of going back to the well one too many times!
I ordered several 2008 W silver eagles from the mint and got lucky with the entire order being the 2008 W with reverse of the 2007. I immediately went back and bought some more from the mint, only to find that all the blue boxes had been previously opened- either by another customer who returned them, or by a mint employee. I think, at this point, that all of the 2008's with the 2007 reverse have been found and that is it! I also wouldn't
Sadly, three of mine are coming back PF69 UC
I sent 5 PF eagles and was pretty confident.. have had better results.. all 5 MS ones are not worth submitting ! have found tiny bagmarks on all of them under magnification
I also have no Reverse of 2007 and want to pick one up instead so let me know if you have TOO MANY ! (like the previous poster, wow)
Just submitted 34 Presidential coin covers!

10x P24 Madison
10x P25 Monroe
Or.. 68 coins ! the grading fee is as much as the coins.. but I'll be selling a bunch of these covers, even any MS66 *fingers crossed*

My first!
As the title says I have my first coin album in recent times. I decided I can't get the commemoratives all in grade MS65 or better due to cost on several of the more scarce varietys. So I've opted for a nice circulated version with a decent strike so you can still see what the coins have to offer. I put in several to start it off. I'm adding some recent coins that were "no grades" due to improper cleaning. The ones I put in are: 1918 Illinois/Lincoln, 1923-S Monroe, 1925 Lexington/Co
The hottest of coin of the year is here
Well everyone knows about the rare misprint eagle. If you dont, it is the 2007 reverse on the 2008 eagle. The raw coin went from 20.00 to 200.00 in a week.only 47,000 errors exist. If you break it down further that equals to 900 coins per state. They are over 900 people in a 20 block radius.Point given,If you cant afford this coin now,You may never be able to afford it.Silver eagles are the biggest among new collectors.I had to splurge.I have 32 comming to m
selling all my coins
If you care to look at my collection. I am going to sell the entire thing. I was into coin collecting for about a year and I have lost intrest. Tne nursmatic value is $1010 if you want to take a look and make an offer. I might just put the whole thing on E-bay, I just think it will take to long to edit all the pictures to fit.
Why even bother??
I've recently been at war, with words, with an individual on another forum. I try to be positive and upbeat and this person just continues to brow beat me on any opinion I give. I don't understand what makes some people so bitter that they need to lash out at others. Maybe he's just a bitter individual or maybe I'm letting it bother me way too much. My guess is it's both. I suppose this is my way of letting it go as I don't plan on commenting directly to him any more.

Or did I just blow a lot of money?
Just picked up this 1953 Proof Franklin on eBay. More like fought for it. Spent a lot more than I intended to, but I'm going to send it off (Early Bird, not Economy) as soon as it arrives. I think I have a real winner here. However, I realize that there are a lot of members with much better judgement than mine, and if you think it may not grade well, please feel free to let me know. I would really appreciate any comments.

My "Special" Coin 2007 Rev.
I ordered a 2008W MS69 Brown label on 4/8/08 and rec'd it on the 18th. Cost: $39.00 (no freight)and put it away in my set. Heard about the 07 rev. error on the 23rd. Upon hearing about the error I bought a 70 right away. Cost: $199.00 (no freight). I looked at the price just now and I almost fell out of my chair!
I thought just for giggles, I would look at the 69 I bought and if by some weird stroke of luck it would be one of the errors I would be so excited! Now
I just can't leave them Peace Dollars alone.
Not even a week has gone by since I got hold of my 1934s and what a beautiful coin it is. There is just a touch of wear on the Eagles shoulders and ever so little on Ms Liberty's hair it looks way better than my XF-40. I have just up graded my 1922 to a MS65. I went the same route as with the other MS65's in my collection. Trader Phil at Gainesville Coins has taken care of me again. They really do have some good prices, I think so any way. I am 5 wo
I did pretty well!
Well, NGC emailed my images this afternoon, so though the status hasn't yet changed to "Finalized/Imaged/Shipped" I know what my 2008-W Silver Eagles are going to be.
I submitted 12 of them, for Early Releases.
I got ALMOST an even split, slightly in my favor. I must admit that in the last two years, I've had better results.
Anyway, the tally is:
MS70: Quantity 7
MS69: Quantity 5
And, among the dozen, I was not lucky enough to get a single one which had a reve
Lost 10,000 point and Drop down in Rank
I collect coins and medals. I been focused on the betts series for the past several years. Most of my medals are in my signature set and most have no registry point values. I had the opportunity to aquire a very important medal, in my estimation, in the series. To make this happen I had to auction all the coins in my vam top 100 morgans to make it happen. By selling the set I lost about 10,000 points and drop down many spots in the ranking. So the quest
They have arrived
I got my first set of coins back today from ngc, 2 of the 5 went 70 other 3 were pf69's , but wont complain about that, will be upgrading all the 69's to 70's over the next couple of days, may stick to only 69 for the american eagle dollars though, got to cut money somewhere. Have listed them on the registry and will add pics in days to come,
Everyone have a safe week.
PCGS Vs NCG
Does anyone know why the state quarters certified by PCGS have a greater value than NCG. I am considering where to send my coins and am very confused.
When you have their address memorized...
I was packing a submission this morning, and as I started to write down the address, I realized that I didn't need to check the invoice for NGC's address. I think I need to cool my heels for a little while... :-)
Anyway, my Mom's coin is off to be graded. I know it won't do well (I was only 11 when she bought it for me) but I'm really hoping that they don't body bag it. That would wreck it as a gift.
Best watch your step
Well I recently paid off all my debt but the house. That was a huge achievement for me and now I need to cherish it so I don't go flying by it. I've recently added some better early commemoratives and by better I mean both by grade and by strike quality. It's unfortunate that I have to scrutinize pictures on the internet to do this but you have to do what you have to do. I just got a 1946 IOWA coin graded MS67 by PCGS! It is very nice and it'll be the pride of the commem's
