Why the bad rap?

I have been reading on the chat boards lately about the 2008 with 2007 reverse SAE and it seems that most really don't care about the new variety that NGC found and comment negatively. That a population of 47,000 for a coin that is not even in circulation is no big deal. Why spend a couple hundred dollars on a coin that is way over priced! And to quote one post...."It's just an example of how many collectors are like lemmings and collect what someone else tells them to collect."

I find that statement quite offensive!! I believe that the silver eagles are a beautifully designed coin and one of my favorite to collect. Not to mention that silver eagles are the most popular coin now being collected by people new to the hobby and old hands at it. I believe this is the only variety ever to be attributed to the silver eagles..MS or Proof. If that is so, I want to own one and now I do. Whether I had to pay $50 or $500 does not make a difference to me. I don't buy coins for their monetary value...I buy them because I enjoy collecting. And if I can get one like this variety to add to my collection it makes me a happy camper!

I just wonder if people make statements like this because they don't like modern coins or are jealous because us that do collect them and now have a coin that is different an enjoy it for what it is...a wonderful coin...not for what it isn't...an investment.
