The Two Gems Have Arrived

...and they're better than I expected. Late last night I checked my email and saw notification from Heritage that my recently "won" lots had been shipped. They had been sent via FedEx overnight. The FedEx site indicated the package would be delivered by 10:30 this morning, and would require a signature. Because I would be at work, I asked my son to be alert for the knock at the door. When I got home from work, there they were - two slabs in a little box, inside a bigger FedEx box, inside a

What a Relief?

The Mint needs a better web server. As many of you probably know, the 2009 Ultra High Relief $20 gold coins were made available today at noon. I decided to order one. After getting help to reset my online mint password, I got on the site at noon. There must have been many other customers with the same idea. Pages loaded very slowly. After an hour, I gave up, having clicked as far as "Add to Cart". I decided to try with my other computer at work. It took 20 minutes, but it worked! Now all

To the member angry at the mint..

Why ring at 12 ? Ring 10 minutes early, then by the time you get through you are right on the ordering buzzer. If you get through early you can easy talk for a few minutes.. ask the price of something I almost did this but was doing something so went with the internet And to jxs525 wow you are right so is mine. It could still be wrong, but that is a great sign !! Although I have had a coin "in stock" a spouse proof.. still hasnt shipped and has been in stock for ages apparently..

Check your orders, might be getting it sooner than we think! I was just checking my order status, I noticed that the UHR was no longer in backorder status. It is now ( in stock and reserved)not showing any expect. ship date. Let's all hope for the best, 70's all the way! Happy collecting! Jimmie

WOW, THAT WAS REDICULOUS

THE MINT NEEDS TO DO AN UPGRADE OF THEIR OWN!! I STARTED CALLING A 12-NO0N ON THE DOT, IT WAS 12:14 BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET PAST THE "YOUR CALL CANNOT BE ANSWERED" MESSAGE. I WAS ABLE TO ORDER MINE, AND I KNOW THIS MAY SOUND CRAZY, BUT THANK THE LORD FOR MOTHER-IN-LAWS, SHE ORDERED ME A SECOND ONE AND HAD IT SHIPPED TO HER ADDRESS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY I WASN'T ABLE TO ORDER THE SECOND ONE TILL 12:28, 928 SPOTS LATER, I HOPE THEY BOTH COME RELATIVELY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER SO I DON'T HAVE TO PAY FO

2009 Buffalo, Gold Eagle Sets????? I see that NGC has a TBA cutoff off date for Early Releases of all denominations of the mint state and proof buffalos and gold eagles. In checking the US mint's Website there is no indication that any of these coins are to be issued and the product availability is through Winter. I also heard no more domination in any of these coins? NGC do you know something the rest of us don't?

2009 Ultra High Relief is here and so is the Greed!!

Double the relief and double the price. As of 2:30pm no less than 13 individuals who wanted these coins are are ready selling them on e-bay and some at a high of $3,000.00. Wonder how high they will go? Got in at about 12:30pm with little effort at the mint's current price with an expected January ship date. I see the expected ship date is only one week longer as of 2:30pm. Not a big deal!!

To all purchasing UHRs today. I salute you!

If I didn't need a new well, then I'd probably join you. We desperately need a new well. Flushing the toilet with the washing machine running is an exercise in futility. We're planning on getting a new on dug in the Spring. I could just imagine the look on my Wife's face if I ordered a UHR Double Eagle for about $1,200. She's a wonderful woman, and supports me in the pursuit of my hobby, but I don't think that I want to find the limit to that support. So, while hopefully a lot of you will so

Just Added

The 2005 Marines MS 70 I have liked these coins since they have came out but they had been kinda pricey, or for me anyways. I was able to get the ms and pf 70 of this coin over the past month or so to add to my collection or should I say my Son's collection. And now I must set my sights on the 2009 coins, and maybe add a older coin here and there. Hope everyone has a great week. And whether we like it or not Obama is now our president, and we all should stand as 1...... Americans

My Coins Arrived Today!!

Fresh from Florida!!! Greetings! I am happy to report that my coins arrived today and I have proudly registered them in my registry. The Mint keeps doing a great job as it looks like 70 is a higher pop coin than the 69's anymore in the SAE category. Proud to have the coins, very beautiful!!

Almost There!

My Statehood Quarter Proofs will be complete shortly. I won't have a true competitor of a set. In fact, I won't even be close. I have too many PF69s in there. However, I am excited that I've almost completed the set by having all 100 Clad and Silver Proofs in NGC holders. Of course, now there's the US Territories to worry about... And in time, I will upgrade as many of the 69s as I can, and who knows, maybe one day this set will compete. In the meantime, I'm not worried. I'm just thrilled t

I am number 500.

Will number 500 please stand up? I am number 500 in the Coin Registry points with 84,997. Maybe this year I can crack the 100k point level. It is difficult being 500 with the other collectors still adding to their registries and my income is frozen like the lakes in dead of winter. I have been collecting more seriously in the last 5 years or so and I like doing it. Thanks Howard Eason

JUST FOR GIGGLES

Native American Dollars? I just hope the Native Americans get slots of their own. I thought they were ridding us of the "Godless" coins? With so many dollars available, 6 new quarters, and 4 pennies. It's a dollars and cents hobbie anyway. In my case, more dollars than sense. I wish they'd stuck to just the American Eagles. Happy 2009 all!!!

Is NGC Is Teasing Me

My coin keeps flopping around and won't get finalized. So, as I wrote before, I had one coin go to NCS before it could be graded. I would like to say that I've been patiently waiting, NOT! So after two weeks, the status changes. It came back and was scelualed for grading. YEA!! Within one day, it then showed that it was in quality control. It won't take long, now. Today though, I rushed home to check the status and to my surprise, it was back in " shedualed for grading" status. I'm lost, what

With Days Like This...

I'm glad I have a hobby. I came back to college yesterday to start the new semester. I found out that the Hall staff had taken my 50ft 12-gauge extension cord as contraband. I then had to deal with (hopefully) the only senior on this campus that doesn't know how to pronounce the word "confiscated." (I'm sorry, but no. It's not "con-fist-i-cated.") Then, today, while buying school supplies someone backs into my car and breaks the cover piece to my break light. And of course he didn't have his i

50 WAYS NOT TO LEAVE YOUR COLLECTION

Exploring your relationship.... The title is a bit of a parody on Paul Simon's hit song, but my thoughts about keeping the fun in your collecting activities may fit his song's format. I left active collecting once for about 8 years; on a number of ocassions, collecting has become "stale" with me. The passage of a bit of time usually cures my ills. Recently, I've felt a bit of the "dulls" coming on again, so I decided to make a list of activities to perk-up my collecting desires. Here goes

2009, The Bicentennial Of Lincoln's Birth

Does anyone know how to get BU rolls pronto? I have been searching for years how one gets the rolls of new Lincolns when they come out. My obsession is more potent this year than those in years past. I always have had to get them from the secondary market and I don't really mind paying the extra $3 or whatever per roll. This year I plan to stock up on a tone of these pennies. Anyone have any ideas or connections. It appears that the Mint will not be offerring these. Any help you may be a

The Lincoln Cent - Part I

A passion or an absurd obsession? Recently, I've been contemplating just why I like the lowly Lincoln cent? It's certainly not for the artistic beauty that the Golden Age of coinage inspired; such as Walking Liberty Halves, SLQ's, Buffalo Nickels, Mercury dimes, St. Gaudens Gold coins, etc... So just why do I like them and why do so many other collectors like them? My first belief is the enormity of the set and the overall challenge it will be to complete from 1909-2009. This set will be a

My First Gold Coin Fix of the Year

I bought an 1856 $2.50 Quarter Eagle RAW! I was born in 1956, so I decided it would be fun to do a Mint set of circulated 1856 coins. Figuring that as beat up as I am at 53 years old, the coins, being 153, should also show some wear. After I started getting the coins and I looked at the 1856 Mint Set in the Registry found that in 1856, 38 different coins were minted. 22 of them were GOLD coins. 16 were silver/copper coins, one copper being the 1856 Flying Eagle 1c (the first of 3 years being

Does NGC Know Something I Don't...???

I already know the answer is "yes" on most coin things...but... Greetings! I could not help but notice as I was looking through the Silver Eagle registries the other day that NGC already has a slot for 2009 W's. I HOPE HOPE HOPE the W series SAE's will be made, but I have been hearing all sorts of rumors to the contrary, mostly I have been hearing that the W series was a 3 year run only...ending last year. Now, as I said, I HOPE this is NOT true, as I do love collecting the W SAE's..

Hopefully Helpfull To Gilmore

Trying to figuare out what is a cameo designation. I've sent in about 90 to 100 coins, looking for designations anywhere from cameo to ultra cameo. After being disapointed umpteen times, I did some investigating, and came up with some opinions. What I found is that It seem that NGC uses the same principals for designation as PCGS. The cameo has to be equal on both sides of the coin, or better. I have sent in Canadian coins graded by the supposed top graing service for Canadian coins. I.C.C.S.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

GRADING WOES!!! I recently got several coins back from NGC grading and immediately returned the coin shown below for a cameo designation. It was returned back to me unchanged. How much cameo effect does a coin need? Is there any recourse to this type of treatment? Any help would be appreciated.
