A FIRST TIME FOR ME!

I guess it had to start somewhere. Hello all, Well, I have finally done it. I joined the Registry to see what it is all about, and I have taken my next baby step. Today I submitted my first coins for grading. I have several unopened proof sets that were given to me, and I finally broke down and sent one to NGC. Being only a Premier member, I thought the coupon with my subscription was the better way to get my feet wet. I decided on a 1958 proof set as my first submission. I filled out

Recent Submissions to NCS

After Conservation my coins are returned NGC graded Recently I submitted several coins to NCS for conservation. The Silver and nickel coins had PVC residue on them and the copper coins had carbon spots. One of the copper coins a 1911 Italian 10 centismo I purchased raw for $26.00. I knew of the carbon spotting, but I noticed the coin had a particularly strong strike with no noticeable wear on the high spots of the coin's relief. To see what level of spotting was gradable I sent the coin to NGC

So much to Write about but not enough Time

Good fortune, Bad luck, gold, Silver, This being my first journal entry of the month I have something to say about a lot of things. Let me start out with I was dismayed like everyone else when pay-pal became the only method of payment on eBay. I run about 30,000 grand a year though pay-pay a combo of payments and receipt of payments for the last 3 years and have had no problems at all. Back on track

New purchases Hello, Haven't posted much but have to share my latest purchases. I broke down and bought the 2008 State Quarters both Clad & Silver. With these additions I am now ranked 4th in the Silver set and 9th in the Proof set complete. I also picked 4 Roosevelt dimes to fill in other holes in my proof sets. Random Thoughts During a Really Heavy Snowstorm

Coins and other bruises... Greetings! As is my usual Sunday, I have spent today mostly relaxing which means I read the paper, called my dad in Detroit, and contemplated taking my dog for a 2 mile walk....but then it started snowing, so I nixed that idea. I understand that they are minting an unlimited number of them! I hope my understanding is correct. I would like to buy one but it is not in the budget right now. When I’m Wiser and I’m Older

I didn't think that this could happen! I've been doing a fair bit of work recently to improve my signature set for 1 Oz silver bullion coins. One of the things I did was to go back and replace the images of the Australian lunar silver dollars that I had. Some of them hadn't been imaged at all. The ones that had been imaged all looked pink. Cross Grading Vrs. Cracking-out Submissions

I need feedback / opinions on Crossgrading I finally recieved my Dec. 18 submission. The coins came just as described, and overall I'm very happy. The one that had to go through NCS first, before it could be cross graded, is on its way now also. it cross graded just fine. Now, for my quastion. A 1953 Canadian pl dime that technically has been crossgraded. Due to the fack that I removed it from its holder and sent it in. It was the coin that came back as a second highest graded. Great! I

January Has Been a Good Month

And it is not over yet. I had set some very modest goals of 2009 and I had hoped to complete them by the end of the year. But during the first three weeks of January I have been able to complete the following. 1) I have upgraded my 2007 ASE from MS-69 to MS-70. 2) I have added a 2009 ASE Early Release MS-70. 3) I have added a 1944 Mercury Dime MS-67. This is really messed up...

Beware Paypal... an Ebay company Any of my fellow numismatists who have tried to recently buy or sell a coin (or 30 in my case) will know that Ebay requires payment in the form of a credit/debit card, preferrably through their own payment clearing house, called PAYPAL. Well, I'm in quality control. Fingers crossed..

Many 1855 sovs will not grade, and I don't plan on sending this one to NCS. 001 1855 AUSTRALIA 1SOV Hard to put into words.. It will feel very good if this coin slabs. It will be a huge disappointment if not. It comes from Australia's top auction house and I expect it to grade. If not there will be some anger too, I have had a coin with a scratch from them before (a little elusive, but it was there) My other stuff.. well there is an error but I have emailed to let them know. NGC waves 5 coin Modern Special tier minimum order for UHR Double Eagle Submissions!

The hard part now is waiting for my coin to arrive from the mint. Great going NGC Its nearly here.. less than one hour to the release of.. possibly the most anticipated coin ? And NGC has produced their magic again on special labels. An Opportunity to Upgrade!
