Holy Cow
Does anyone else think that the prices are inflated because President Lincoln is included this year? 2007, 2008 and 2009 are ranging in price from $125 - $200 per set, however, the 2010 set is going for upwards of $300!!! This is going to put a huge dent in my collecting budget. I would be willing to bet that next year, the price goes back down.
Happy collecting everyone. And good luck with your 2010 Presidents set.

just look at the April 26th listings for Teletrade!?
Well now for the April 26th Teletrade has over 100 1909 dated coins up for auction. Many are listed as "Red" but if you look at all of them, they may have been red at one time, but now they are all but maybe 1 or 2 coins, "red brown". Now of the over 20 red brown 1909 dated coins, only 1 or 2 would really be red brown now. The rest of those are all in the "only brown color".....
Why is this? Grade inflation??
Notice how many have carbon
It's good to be back...
Greetings Collectors,
Thank you for your notes of condolances about my dad. God is definately still in the "miracle business". Because thats exactly what its been in his case.
Just wanted to leave you with a photo of what I think is a very well perserved $2.50 Liberty. Picked this little MS-61 jewel up on Teletrade this last week.
I feel sad in a purchase like this for anyone who has got to the point that they need to sell some or all of their coins just to keep
Or how do they stack up in the marketplace?
Since rejoining the ANA back in 2007, I have taken advantage of the direct submission privileges on several occasions. NGC has returned several of my pre-modern commemorative halves with Details (AU or UNC) for "Improperly Cleaned". You can check my registry to see which ones.
My question is how do these Details coins trade in the marketplace? I noticed that a lot of sellers on Ebay try to minimize the impact by glossing over the Details designat
As most of us in the hobby know, once bitten it gets in your blood. Talk about going Viral!
Most of the collectors I have met have one thing in common--we started as kids and never outgrew our love for the hobby. To bad that the coins of that era were worth more keeping than the new editions, for if we knew that, we would have never parted with a single dime. We took silver for granted. Well, those days are gone, and when I compare the prices in my "Stars and Stripes" newstand Whitman blue coi
Problem with uploading pics.
I have added this years prez's in PF70 along with the MS70 DAV, and I uploaded the pic as always its size is around 72kb, and is in .jpg , but when you go to view the gallery it shows image not available , but you can click on it and the image will appear, is anyone else had this problem or what can I do to fix the problem.
No real big deal just handy to be able to see the pics..

Plus I organized all my Slabs.
My Wife, Daughter, and I went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park Yesterday. I received 2 Shield cents while purchasing Chips and Soda at one concession. My wife received 3 more shield cents when buying popcorn at a different concession stand. Looks like they are in wide release here in the SD area. Oh BTW, the Butterfly exhibit was great and well worth the 45, or so, minute wait. I think it ended its run today or maybe tomorrow.
This afternoon, I organized e
Another beauty added
Greetings all;
Today I added another PF70UC Kennedy to my set. A 1993 Silver. I had been watching for one to come along at a decent price that wasn't inflated by E-Bay bidders. Paid over $50 less than the last one that sold there. So happy about that.
Will now put coin acquisitions on hold for brief time as we are moving and everything is getting boxed up.
Good luck to all in your acquisitions

Happy to be adding the MS70 to my registry soon. I guess the others will be sold, too many coins, not enough actual cash. Lots of my stuff has already been sold and more to go
2CENT PROOFS 1864 TO 1883 COMPLETE.
LIBERTY HEAD NICKELS PROOFS 1883 TO 1912 COMPLETE.NOW I HAVE 7 OUT OF 8 WALKING LIBERTY HALF DOLLARS. I NEED A 1936 PROOF 66 TO COMPLETE. THE REASON IS THAT I HAVE TWO 1941 HALFS ONE WITH A.W AND ONE WITH NO A.W. MAKING THE SET 8 INSTEAD OF SEVEN.
I submitted a 55 1 cent double die, 42/41 dime, 77 1 cent over 10 cent (11 cent) coin, and a 43/42 nickle for grading.
Anxiously awaiting the return of my first grading submission. I have had coins graded before but only by bringing them to a local dealer and having them do the paperwork and submission. It was a bit of a pain so I joined the collectors society and put together a package of some of my more desirable varieties I have wanted grading on.
I submitted a 55 1 cent double die I th
What in the world are all these crazy people thinking?
Many of you know that one of my goals is to assemble a collection of gold First Spouse coins in PF-70 condition. Over the last year, I have managed to keep the collection current only lacking Louisa Adams and Jackson?s Liberty in PF-70 condition. This past February, I was able acquire Louisa Adams in PF-70 directly from a coin dealer?s web site for a good price leaving Jackson?s Liberty left to upgrade. Unfortunately, I only saw one Jackso
I'm ready to move back to coins in a big way!
Greetings Collectors,
It's been a while since I posted a journal here and while there are some of you who probably wished I was gone for good, I'm back. I want to thank those of you who have stayed in contact & you are aware of the issues that have been keeping me very busy. For those of you that don't know...
For the most part it has been the health of my dad. Actually he's my step dad but he and I have been alot closer than my real fathe
A nice clean slab.
Received this coin today and there were some smudges on the reverse of the slab. So out came the Slab-Renew and after a little work....presto!
Like SMC I don't sell the stuff....I just know it works. I paid $9.95 for my 4 oz. bottle and I see it has gone up to $15.95 as of this post. When this bottle runs out (in 15-20 years!) I'll probably try some car wax or other less expensive cleaner/wax to do the job.
Happy Hunting, all.
Dan
Yes i know im sure everyone has read the last two post and that should be it but i am also going to add my 2 cents
I agree with audrop, the slab-renew slab cleaner is prob the best product i have found to remove scratches from slabs.
The product works really well for GSA morgan dollars & with a little patience and elbow grease you can remove basically any "normal" scratch on one of these plastic cases.
NGC slabs i believe are the second easiest to remove scratches with this product, ma
Easy to find, cheap, and often more spectacular than double dies
My coin collection has taken a back seat in the past month to other of life's pursuits.
But of the last few bank wraps I've examined, one 1994 1c roll had a lot of strike doubling. Enjoy the closeups!
It'll be at least a month before this coin's brother makes it into my registry. For the next new slabs, I'm trying to take photos before slabbed. We'll see ...
Happy taxes, all -
First you get a really big hammer....
Seriously, I use a product called Slab-Renew and it's unconditionally guaranteed. It sure works for me. SlabRenew.com.

Shiny Slabs
OK all you experts. Help! What works the best for removing the hairline scratches from certified holders? I've got some nice coins in some holders that really detract from the coin. Forget photographing them...they would come out hazy. I would appreciate some ideas. I know I could get them reslabbed but that's a last resort. Thanks in advance for the input.
EAC this month, Holmes sale next...
Hello folks... I would say I've been saving myself for the upcoming sale of the Dan Holmes middle date large cents, but for some reason I couldn't resist getting a PCGS MS70 First Strike 2009 $50 Buffalo a few weeks ago. Other than that, I am saving myself for the late-May Holmes sale. I still need two dates for the Registry set, and would like to upgrade one or two others. I anticipate having the money for only one coin.
The Goldbergs already have a vir
A rush to judgment?
I was just reading Beaw's post and had a completely different opinion. One of the main reasons I register my coins is to help find them in case of theft. In the case of the initial owner who registered the coins despite not receiving them, I might well have done the same thing so that I might be able to track down the thief if they entered the market.
I do feel that all coins should be immediately de-registered when transferred to another owner (via sale or gift) and I
Been 30 Days
It's been 30 days since my sets arrived at NGC. At least two of the sets got separated and given a different invoice number, hopefully that maens I'm getting two 70's, I'll just have to wait 'till Monday and hope to see some results, been in quality control for a week. GLTA
Hard Times
We live in uncertain times that can be very scary for many of us and praying for good fortune is not something uncommon for any one of us, we all have done this in the past for many reasons we can not even fathom. So what he asked for your prays, He was just reaching out for help, For what ever reason he had. When I first read his journal about this I thought to myself that it was odd to ask people to pray that he gets 70's on some if not all of the coins he submitted to NGC and the
THREE UHR coins submitted
If ever I was a praying man, its now. My luck this week has been odd to say the least. Perhaps its been up and down.. but I digress..
A mystery bet for $1 which paid me $92 instead of $2200.. due to a stupid, unfair system by our small betting agency. When I say small, this betting agency spends millions in advertisements in the main newspaper, television.. millions on upgrading facilities.. millions more advertising when the Melbourne Cup comes out. These companies
