Top Ten NGC Lincoln Memorial Set

1998 Type 2 Wide AM NGC MS 66 Hi everyone. One of my goals at the beginning of this year was to finish with my Lincoln Memorial Registry set in the top 10 at the end of the year. My most recent addition has temporarily placed me in 8th amongst these sets. I have a few more sleeper coins that I will be looking for this year that hopefully will keep me in the top 10. I hope you enjoy the picture and always thanks for looking and Happy Collecting

Keeping with Tradition

Where's the Luck With the recent return of my latest submission I still haven't been able to get an ASE to grade 70! My anniversary set all received a 69. I did however get a surprise in that my 1970 S Nickel received a better than expected MS 66. In all not one silver coin I have submitted has reached over a 69. I'm not sure why ELL is saying NGC is easy on grading after all of the ones I have submitted in total. My Gold has a much better average though.

EbaY Tale Continued

Or How All Parties were made WHole AgaIN Some of you may recall a recent post of mine where I mentioned 3 transactions in the last year involving non-delivery of coins or coins supplies purchased on Ebay. At the time I wrote, the most recent transaction, involving the purchase of a 1937 MS66 Buffalo Nickel, had gone to the resolution center and the ruling was in finally made in my favor, with full refund. Well about 10 days later, this would be this past Saturday, I received a note from t

Thanks to all the dead

Admit it, without estate coins, our hobby would be a lot tougher My primary focus right now is on my Lincoln Memorial Cent MS collection. Some years are pretty tough to find good examples of. The Denver mint's known for loose quality control in the 1970's, and the Philadelphia mint was even worse in the 1980's. I'm mostly using three methods to fill my set: (1) original bank wraps; (2) circulated bank rolls; and (3) collector rolls, including my own saved spare change. For the OBW's, che

Response to Yevrah What should I do? Posted: 3/15/2010 10:02:52 PM Views: 29 1868 S XF 45 NGC, obviously over-graded, IMO, should I keep it? Look at theses images of the coin. pick some brains

Canada cent inquiry Good Evening, Looking for information on the following coin: 1916 1c Canada Raw Unsure of grade (no experience) A guess might be 50-55. Has been riding around for a long time. Heavy "tarnish" on all relief areas. High areas are fairly worn. It appears there have not been very many graded by NGC. Just looking for basic information, considering getting it slabbed. If anyone can help, let me know.

Re: What should I do

Go with the gut! It really does look like it may be overgraded. From my point of view photos don't lie but they can be deceptive. In the end it doesn't matter what everyone else will say, go with your gut. If it says send it back that's what I'd do because if you don't follow your feelings you'll constantly kick yourself for it.

Three to go

And then there were three My New Orleans Half Eagle collection might have hit a wall with my latest acquisition of the 1893 0. Now I have three to go: 1855 0, very difficult, 1892 0, difficult, yet not impossible, and the impossible dream " the 1847 0." I will need this coin in a VF 20 if I live long enough to find one. But this is what makes collecting fun for those on a limited budget, you just never know what might show up one someones website. This always brings me back to who has more

Finalized/Imaged/Shipped!

Is This a Good Percentage? Hi All Time for another poll. I recently submitted 2 rolls (forty coins total) of 2010 Silver American Eagles to NGC for grading. Well, my scores are in! MS68 - 1 MS69 - 35 MS70 - 4 So, my MS70 score comes in at 10%. I feel very lucky that only one was graded less than MS69. Care to compare? I'm just curious to see how I match up to other submissions. As always, happy collecting and don't forget to fill out your brackets. March Madness has arrived. Rega

Response to someone complaining about PCGS coins allowed in NGC registry.

I hope I don't upset too many people with my response as I own a substantial NGC collection but as Numismedia states that it is strictly for NGC graded coins so does PCGS state that their values are strictly for PCGS graded coins. I do respect Ngc for accepting PCGS coins and someday maybe PCGS will do the same or do most people think they should completely isolate each other? The person I'm reponding to went on about how much more value the NGC coins retained over their PCGS counterparts! I c

Newest acquisition- 1856 Eagle

NGC Graded AU58 I recently purchased the below pictured 1856 Liberty Eagle $10 Gold piece. Graded AU58 by NGC. 60,490 were minted. Overall a very nice coin. I think it could come back MS if cracked out and resubmitted. AS always, a bigger version of the images are available in my sets. Both 1856 Mint Set and Gold Type Set.

2010 D Fillmore Edge Error

Another Partial Missing Edge Lettering Dollar I have been fortunate to find three partial missing edge lettering dollar errors since the Presidential dollar series began. I never did find any total blank edge like the Washingtons though. I don't collect error coins per se but I am rather curious about the collectors that do. Is it really that valuable to have a modern day error coin like the missing edge? Not that I am not complaining though since they do tend to bring in a few bucks to u

2010 Lincoln Roll Received

With a little Wizardry. I received a roll of uncirculated Lincoln Cents today with my order from Wizard Coin Supply. They are offering one free roll of Lincolns with a purchase of $35.00 minimum. I purchased a book about Commemorative Coins 1892-1954 and some coin supplies to meet the minimum. The roll shows the reverse of the cent at each end. Although it is not a great design, it sure beats the Lincoln Memorial. I think the deal is still available.

My Pretty Little Lincolns

Getting into the 'spendy' cents I have finally started getting 'serious' about trying to complete some of our Lincoln Cent collections. We have 3 in progress right now. They were just a few handfuls of cents gleaned from weekly bank runs to obtain as many rolls as the clerks were willing to lug to the counter for me. Then I get rid of the ones I don't want at another bank, so that I do not get the same pennies back again and again. I just turned in $35.00 worth a week ago. I have all of our co
