Many Registry users complained that XF and AU-graded coins received the same scores and were not broken out by the numeric grades. With this feedback in mind, NGC will now be showing different scores for XF 40, XF 45, AU 50, AU 53, AU 55, and AU 58, as well as for Plus and Star-graded coins.
This will involve a recalculation of many Registry scores, but will now recognize the value and rarity differences of these grades. As a result of this enhancement, many sets are marked as updated if they

Greetings my fellow collectors;
Today I filled the last open slot I had for my Franklin Proof set. It is now complete, 100%.
I completed this set from all raw coins and submitted to NGC for grading. Although it is complete now, it is far from done as there are numerous slots I am in the process of upgrading. In fact as I type this, I have more raw Franklins I recently purchased on their way to me now. This was my "goal" though for this Franklin set. To do
What precedes a "First Releases" and "Early Releases"?
"Release Ceremony"!
It took some effort to get this designation on this gold 2012 W $5 Star Spangled Banner Commemorative in PF 70 UC.
Its permanent new home is in the museum collection at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine in Baltimore Maryland.
This is a 3rd Journal Entry relating to my efforts of these gifted coins. Other two entries:

On January 30, 2012 coin928 posted a Journal entry describing what he believed was a new die variety of the 1944 S US/Philippine Fifty Centavos. http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/JournalDetail.aspx?JournalEntryID=10460
In my journal entry of the same date http://coins.www.collectors-society.com/JournalDetail.aspx?JournalEntryID=10463 I responded that the coin appeared to be a new die variety but that I would really like to see pictures of a mint stat
Has anyone else seen this?
Just saw this and was wondering if anyone has any more information they could impart... ? Would this be worth sending to NGC for grading, etc?

This happened to me on March 31st. A number of certified US/Philippine proof coins of all denominations and years were listed for sale on eBay by a very reputable, long time dealer on March 24th. All were listed at what I considered to be a fair market price, and I thoroughly expected for most of them to sell for much more. I would have loved to bid on them all, but my budget would have to stretch a bit just to obtain one, so I set about decid
Oh the wheat and indian coppers----
Hey Buds,
I had a swell time with Ken today as we met to talk about coin stores, grading, and customers. I went through a bunch of coins and found 3 DDOs and a Indian Head from the 60s with a broken 6. We did allot of talking and less grading I guess trying to find out about each other.My son and I met him at his house, with two daughters and his wife. He will be opening a coin store in Greenville, SC soon and is trying to get his ducks in a row.

Coin Journal for the week of 04/03/2012 through 04/09/2012This past week saw me continuing to frequent all the auctions I can find to grab those few good deals to submit for grading. I managed to get some nice Walkers this week, along with a few odds n ends that I thought were exciting.This week's treasures I found were:1916 S Buffalo 5c1919 S Buffalo 5c1912 P Barber 10c1913 P Barber 10c2010 Brass USNA Trade $1 Type Coin by Daniel Carr1
If there is anything that rubs me the wrong way, its paying $300 for a classic coin thats worth a paltry three registry points.
When it comes to points, I am not as much interested in total points or competing with other collectors as I am competing with myself. It is this sense of competition and pure absurdity that I just cannot tolerate one-point slaps in the face or three-point wonders. In a manner of speaking, I am also competing against the points themselves.

I'm eager to see the conservation results by NCS ...
I submitted a 1959 Official Hawai'i Statehood sterling silver medal (serial number 26) for NCS conservation and NGC grading. I was expecting a details encapsulation as some sort of chemical layering and reaction was occurring on the medal's reverse.
This is the lowest serial number for the medal I have encountered and picked up this prize just for the serial number.
I checked the medal's status. It graded MS-66! Now it's a bigger prize
25th Anniversary SAE prices have arrived

What a conversation I had TODAY!!!
Friends and Society--
The day started off regular----No work so I hung out at a friends business looking for remodel jobs that may come up. I got a small one where a 150' barn wall was falling and 50' of roof was on the ground. I took my tractor and truck full of tools and got the girl standing with most of a ridge look. Tomorrow I will build a temporary wall inside the barn and fix the broken trusses to re construct the block wall that has fallen.

2 Upgrades to my Franklin Collection
Greetings once again my brethren and sisters of the round;
Today I upgraded 2 of my Franklin Proofs. The 1958 and 1959.
The 1959 is a "Key Date" in the Franklin Proof series with less than 1% of total mintage exhibiting enough cameo contrast on both obverse and reverse to warrant a cameo designation. I was lucky enough to land a PF67CAM.
I wish everyone great luck in their search for what they seek.
Mike (moondoggy)
