  1. Well the damage is progressive the lines look like they match up nicely. How it happened is another question
  2. I have a bunch of oddball coins from all over the place but my pound is not as old or as nice as yours Bill .The Queen got a lot older in one year and my plant looks' dead
  3. Try some Goof Off on it I here it is a miracle solution. I hear tell it can make a coin real even if it isn't.
  4. Well Bill I know not a thing about your coins but I am going to take a wild guess and say you have two Florin's. The larger one is a Double Florin and the smaller one is Silver Crown which may also be called a Florin.
  5. All the lines go the same way . I agree with the big guns on this one die polished marks.
  6. It could be in the plastic and Proof coins are not full proof all the time
  7. It popped up on me a few times earlier today. It popped up when I was uploading shots and quoting others. I just moved around a bit and logged off washed my cookie's and browser and came back on , I have not seen it again... .. So far?
  8. I know what you are saying Mike it was also a thought I had but holding side by side the smallest reeded coin a dime is still much larger than the marks on the coin and they run on a angle. You would think a hit that hard would also change the rim but it looks ok it is almost like it had a cud and someone took a chisel and chopped it off. I know that is imposable that is why I was thinking a quick attempt to repair a bad die. This is a real head scratcher kinda fun though .
  9. That Awful Sad. And the mint story sounds fishy to me. If they melt down the coins who is keeping track of the population of coins do they melt 1000 and then strike 1000 ,and after do they put them in holders that say { oops second strike } I mean they are still making emergency issue ASE strike coins a year later. It is all so confusing.
  10. Thanks for taking a look GBrad that does look like the same marks. Oh well. Until someone who may have seen this type of error before chimes in or I fide a example on-line. I will put it in the Odd & Error cent box. As you can see we have a few coins filed away.
  11. Agreed that is why I said Odd Cud LoL after looking at the edge more it looks like there may be a crack in it also not sure if you can see it. I find weird stuff It may be just a scratch .
  12. I know I was thinking the same thing but with the file scratches on the edge you would think there would be metal missing not extra metal
  13. Nothing wrong on the obverse except scratches and dings
  14. This 2016 P Nickel looks like it had a cud that was filed down ?. Or should I say the die had a chip and that was filed down to keep production rolling until they could replace the die. Not sure how or why the edge is still uniform but it is Odd looking for sure.
  15. Ya thanks for the input guys. It is not like the old days when the stuff would just jump out and say here I am. You have to really be aware of looking for tiny things
  16. Yes it has something there , this may be a early stage sample the die crack is not as big as the one in the photo.
  17. I have been looking at some of the so called new DDO's GBrad seams to know a lot about this stuff and to me it does not look like a DDO but this cent has all of the characteristics of this Vista 2019 DDO. I want to know if this old dog is barking up the wrong tree. Not that I think it is worth anything other than a penny just wanted to get some others thoughts on my find. http://www.varietyvista.com/01e LC Doubled Dies Vol 5/2019PDDO001.htm
  18. I was handed this tonight in my change at the Chinese restaurant. They must have thought it was a quarter. Kinda neat. Swiss Franc maybe worth a buck.
  19. So that's why no one is getting there coins yet . There waiting for the dealers to send the rejects back so they can ship them to the collectors who have been waiting.
  20. Well before you send it in you may want to ask some of the members here if they think it is worth sending in to be graded ? there are a lot of knowledgeable members here you can ask for advice
  21. If your scale is off just weigh a70s coin or a wheat cent and see what that is
