  1. Looks like a dryer coin that was not done yet, I say put it back in for 40 minuets on high heat permanent press and see if you can get it all to come out even.
  2. Brad got what I was trying to point out that it is a 39 and Henning made 39 44 46 47 and 53 year Nickels and I was thinking they were they were underweight I saw somewhere they were some coins 4.86. I was bassackwards on my thinking but it was early this morning when I found it and I was not awake yet Lol. I know that Keith has been looking for one for a while now. Oh the scale is perfect well within a 0.01 it even has a 50g calibration weight it came with. I never heard of using a nickel to calibrate a scale that's new to me.
  3. I thought I would post this for Keith. I found this in a roll this morning and seeing I live in New England there could be some light weight nickels kicking around. It is not worn down enough in my opinion to be -20 g but ya never know.
  4. Ya it makes the set look a little more complete. I will continue to add to the set hoping to eventually get all FS coins
  5. Thanks for looking Greg , I did check it out and the die scratches match up for the 002 but not the 001 or 003
  6. Y Yes I think it took a small hit just below the second 4
  7. Hi everyone , As most of you know I have been working on my WWII Nickel set . I have been looking for a graded 1944S and a 1945 S to help me complete the set. but I have been not seeing any in a reasonable price range. So the wife and I took a ride to my favorite Coin shop where I get my Morgan's to see if he had anything. Well he is not big on Nickels he has quite a few but no graded war nickels but then he said. oh Ya I got a bunch of BU WWII in the other day take a look in the tin. Well I found the two nicest ones I was missing in MS condition and get this I ask him how much and he says how does $3 a piece sound. I will still be looking for the graded ones to complete the NGC registry set but for now it is a cool find.
  8. Those are very nice Nickels. I find there are so many coins out there all ready graded 64,65 and 66 that I can buy for way below the cost of sending a coin out to be graded most of the time. If you have a coin that is something special to you then by all means send it out to be graded but just for a basic collection I would just shop around for deals.
  9. I like toned Nickels I actually bought some for my WWII collection
  10. OH my I cant see any more.. to Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiny
  11. To bad about the D over D it is very hard to see close up when it is already in a slab, But I do have to say I love all the other Nickels you have collected through the years Lem. Awesome stuff
  12. Finding some fun stuff this weekend and I wanted some others to take a look at this 55. It is to beat up to be worth much if it got a VF25 I would be surprised. So Take a look at my find it has all the marks and scratches of a WOMM 2.https://www.doubleddie.com/939955.html
  13. Well there are three dots in the right hand corner of your post that if you click it it says edit , you can go back and fix it Bill, But the damage is done.
  14. Here on the forum I cant help but cringe when I see a new member ask how to clean a coin. If you have to ask you should not be doing it. I see so many wonderful coins for sale that say Genuine Details it kills me to think what that coin would be worth if it was just left alone. Here is one of my favorite coins. I thought it was so cool that it was so beet up and dirty and graded I had to have it , I paid more than I wanted to for it but I still got a good deal. Now the dirt actually accents the features of the coin and it becomes a beautiful coin. It has a grade and it is true..... So standing here on my soap box I say this. Please don't clean your coins let them be and maybe down the road someone will end up with a VF 25 forever keeper.
  15. I am always looking at MM on Nickels it is one of my favorite coins. But sometimes they are just to worn out to see what they may have been. Not to say it is not worth checking them out on the web sites .I always do but if there is no listing chances are it never was. Here is one I just found this morning and I have never seen a D like this one. It is on a 1947 there is a listing but no D that looks like this one. It looks to have a bit of Die deterioration due to a Die Clash. I think it has just seen to much action although the coin is a nice book coin. Oh and by the way Keith welcome to the forum and keep up the good hunt I love some of the stuff you have been posting
  16. That in itself is worth more than any coin out there. My 2 year old Grandson will pull up a chair next to me while I am going through coins and imitate what I am doing. It is simply the best feeling to be able to share it with him I let him hold the coins and he looks them over and holds them under the scope it is priceless.
  17. I just found something cool you cant see is the registry numbers are only 6 digits apart from each other so I would say they are from the same place or person at one time
  18. I added two new members to the collection today. I got lucky on these, $13.50 for the MS 65 44 P and $10.84 for the MS 65 45 P
  19. That is quite a task ahead of you my friend, I wish you well. I am also working on building my set of Morgan's 63 or higher but my budget per coin is one zero less than your $500 mark LoL. I do a lot of hunting for the best deal and I always end up spending more than $50 but I still try to only pay 33% of High list price. I am sure it will be a long time before my set is done if ever. So good luck with your Toned Coin Hunt.
  20. Nice, Lots of Die scratches on that one
