  1. That is because a large candy bar was only a nickel all the good stuff was a nickel . Soda candy, coffee, crackerjacks and did not go up in price to a dime until the 70's.
  2. Sorry it just looks like damage to me. PMD
  3. That's funny you should say that Greg I live close to Canada and I do get a lot of Canadian coins in rolls also but I am in Rock Hill SC. this week for a wedding and this is where I found the antique store in Waxhaw NC.
  4. Ya there everywhere. It is a fun hunt most of the time. Ya find a lot of junk mostly but once in a while you will find a thing or two. Most shops are consignment so it is little booths with many items so you have to hunt in oddball locations for coins and tokens can be found in these locations a lot.
  5. While I was out shopping around for my War Nickels I happened on a coin book with some Canadian Nickels in it. I thought I would grab these three they are not rare but they all have different reverse's on them and one is a war nickel. At the antique store I was shopping at the deal was $3 each or 4 for $10 so for a extra buck I also picked up a Centennial cent. Oh and yes the first thing I did after I took the photo was to smash down those awful staples.
  6. Just a dime that is discolored from being here there and everywhere.
  7. Is it a B or a R for reproduction with displaced metal making it look like a B.... LoL just joking Greg
  8. Looks like a normal coin to me with a lot of dings and corrosion. Sorry PMD
  9. Welcome to the Forum Fishstick..Personally I try to only purchase a coin at 30 to 40% of the guideline price whenever possible most of the prices are already high so I would only want to pay $18 for your $56 dime. That is just how I look at the prices when I go hunting. Not sure if that helps you to get a idea. I am not a dealer that is just how I look at coins, and I can wait until I find the right deal . .... Well most of the time LoL It depends on the coin .
  10. Nice going Greg, the lighting makes it hard to see but it looks like a lot of small nicks and dings but the high points are still in good shape . I will give it a AU 58
  11. The reason leger 2 was so heavy is it had all the $20 gold pieces in it.
  12. Now what, Did someone find another oddity on a Kennedy and we all know there is no 64 SMS.
  13. People are selling imitation 2021 ? who would ever think that.
  14. With coin in hand the determining factor I would think is if the letters are raised, it was done on the strike of the coin. they would not be raised if it was from a vice or press
  15. I just wanted to say. Thank you For your service, to any of the men or woman who have served Our Nation on this forum.
  16. The letters looked raised ? if it was a vice job the rim would be damaged and the letters would be incuse. Perhaps it is a capped die error.
  17. I have many Proof sets and a lot with a haze on the coins but for a proof set that is only worth between $5 and $30 I can see no point in restoration it will not change the value just make it look better.
  18. This folder is Whitman 9039 Jefferson Nickel Collection starting at 1962 Number two. This folder has been pre marked from 1962 up to 1968 S
  19. Ya I will take a better look at the MM's. I did take a quick look and did not see anything but then again I have had that 1955 WOMM 2 sitting in my coin tin forever and never saw the MM until I looked at again with the USB Magnifier. My Antique cigarette coin tin my dad made on his ship in WWII
  20. I also intend to wait until all the hype is washed down river. I bought a BU type 2 2021 ASE for $38 just to keep my ASE collection up to date and that is all for now on any new stuff for me. As far as I am concerned the new coins are Bullion no more no less. Unlike a older Morgan or a Peace dollar which was currency and $85 is to much to even pay the mint IMOA the only reason is because they are a limited amount. When the dealers that forked out all that money cant move them then the sales will start and we can all get a $300 coin for $90
  21. Stopped by a Antique dealer and spotted this for $8.50 I was thinking what the heck maybe we will get lucky and find a FS in there .... NOT a One.... I got 6 keepers so I broke even . But I am always amazed people think the coins have to shine. Not to bad only half of the coins have been cleaned LoL and the book is in nice shape.
  22. Looks like a dryer coin that was not done yet, I say put it back in for 40 minuets on high heat permanent press and see if you can get it all to come out even.
