  1. Yes that could be Mechanical Doubling or Die Deterioration Doubling I don't see a listing on Vista for a DD on the date like that.
  2. I had a feeling it was going to be very high grade even though it has hidden damage. but I graded it as I saw it without the bonus factors. It also looks like it is from a private collection which would make a better chance to sway for a higher grade. If I sent it in it would have been a 63. Like Coinbuf said GBrad don't be sad It was a cr@p shoot and you won the coin.
  3. I am not sure where to look for it if it can be seen it will be small. you may need a closer shot. And look here to double check your coin. http://www.varietyvista.com/
  4. The 1884 CC is very nice the toning makes it hard to see scratches or bag marks but the reverse is really clean I will give it a MS64
  5. Ya Balita ,It just so happens I have a few of the Bicentennial coins myself and I don't plan on ever sending any of them out to be graded. I like them just the way thy are.
  6. Welcome to the forum. GBrad is being truthful. It is a nice proof coin worth somewhere between $6 and $18 if it was in a slab and someone wanted it. After sending in your coin with postage and insurance. and the cost to slab it you will have spent close to $40 sometimes you can get a deal on a slab coin. I always look around first. I want you to understand it is your choice I just wanted to show ya some options. Like this.MS 69. . https://www.ebay.com/itm/393644791883?mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&mkcid=1&campid=5337153378&mkevt=1 Or these nice NGC ones https://www.ebay.com/b/NGC-1976-Washington-Quarters-1932-1998/39461/bn_112642421
  7. Thanks Greg, sorry I made you go through a search that to get that info. I already new that 5 FS thing but I misworded my first post and added the word Does PCGS. My whole point was trying to find out is why in the Registry they are saying my PCGS coins are only 5 FS when some are 6 FS and Coinbuff said it has always been that way . So there it is
  8. That is why we don't polish coins, some people get carried away and overdo it. Just kidding, Welcome to the forum JRD . It is just a damaged coin sorry
  9. No the 6FS is not that big deal, and Craking is out of the question on a PCGS or a NGC holder If 5 is good enough 6 is just ...bling...
  10. I agree with Coinbuf I am also looking at the rim of the coin it looks kinda rough and a little offset? it could be the lighting but that bothers me a bit.
  11. So I will consider myself lucky with the 5 FS designation all around and for those PCGS coins that have 6 FS well you loose out no bonus for you ..LoL
  12. I was wondering ? Maybe somebody could chime in on this question .I have been trying to buy FS coins for my collection whenever I can find them cheap. I know that NGC has two listings for MSFS nickels 5FS and 6FS.. I have a 5FS NGC coin I also have some PCGS coins and they say FS on the case. but when I look at the coins in the NGC Registry the PCGS coins are labeled MS 66 5FS so is NGC categorizing my PCGS coins to there grading standards ? PCGS does not use 5 or 6 just FS. So does PCGS Only require 5 steps to make a FS coin and NGC is showing there more defined grading system that uses 6FS coins...
  13. I am rolling on the floor LMAO, Almost every picture on this site is a close up of a coin. I love it LoL
  14. Thanks Lem .. I could have bought the whole MS 66 set a while back for $400 but what fun is that. This is a slow ride but this is cheaper and more interesting doing it this way
  15. How many , Not counting the 43/2 .... Well if I just want to finish it off as a mixed Batch 3 coins but I am in no big rush. So I will keep shopping around for the 65 and 66 FS deals and adding coins in as I find them. I have been lucky so far with all these coins have been $20 or less it's just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. I am hoping to make it a all FS set some day.
  16. Paper towel is like sand paper to a coin and he was rubbing the coins with his thumb LoL
  17. Thanks Lem ,I still need few more but to get the next ones cheap in FS will be a fun hunt. I am also thinking I may want to keep the set all PGCS instead of part NGC and part PCGS I guess it depends on the deals
  18. Another nice coin came in today, that I got last week , Another toned one I only paid $18 that is less than 33% of PCGS price of $60 I like these MS66FS. Maybe people don't like the toned ones as much. I think they are cool and always a good deal.
  19. It looks like a old fuse panel penny. Not a recommended practice... Sometimes in a older panel when you blow a fuse and didn't have a replacement people would put a penny in the socket and screw the old one back in for temporary power to that line. The round dent on Lincolns head is a good sign, it looks like the end of a fuse.
  20. I like VKurtB Idea but maybe adding to it With Condor's Idea. Holding a SBA over a Kennedy half it looks like the letters would be cut almost in half around the edge. I go with Kennedy planchet but cut out of SBE stock or something that is thinner and did not allow the metal to push out to make a full rim. My best guess LoL ...........No mater it is still a cool find.
  21. That 1849 has the loop in the same spot my 2.5 had the scratch marks. i am glad i was able to trade that in. It's to bad it is still worth melt But I would just tell your sister to ware as a remembrance.
  22. In May of 2021 it was up to $29 almost $30 so $24 I would say is down LoL
