  1. I think it will be hard to find examples in the wild that are not going to be all scratched and Bag marked . There are lots of smooth surfaces on this piece.
  2. Ya I think it looks fine now that I have it in hand.
  3. Hi Steve. All these guys are trying to do is help like they always do. I know your new but we see so many coins every day it can be frustrating and we can joke around a bit to keep it light hearted when there is not enough information to go on. Remember we are all collectors and some of us are Dealers and Appraisers and Authors. We love the hobby and try to help whenever and we can but understand it is a two way street you have to be patient and you will get all your answers. They may not be what you want to hear but I can say that the information you will receive will be as close to the truth you will find anywhere in the world. I am a Roll hunter and collector of odd coins. I wont call all of them error coins because a error coin most of the time is something that can be referenced somewhere. Here is a coin like yours only older. It also has no rim therefore it makes the coin much thinner 2.4g I do not know how it lost its rim maybe a old Coke Cola test . I don't think it came from the mint this way the devices would not be centered without a rim it would have moved anywhere it wanted before the strike so it is not a error coin just worn out.
  4. I found some of these in a roll today. What do you think ? I think George looks like Trump with a wig on.
  5. Yes Susan , I think anyone who has collected Lincoln cents has many of these MD 1969 floating roofs. I know I have a bunch
  6. The stars look like Christmas cookies
  7. I get lucky sometimes. There is one shop here that is closing. I am kinda bummed out because it is so close to my house I can walk to it if I want to ,Everything is on sale 50% off until the end of the month but the coin booth dealer pulled out. No 50% off coins LoL I found that piece in another booth. Sometimes you have to hunt in spots you would never think a coin would be hiding.
  8. LoL that's funny. I find these all the time and never think about the fact that they are different. I guess I just thought that they were using a type of sand blasting method on the dies to get the clash marks and scratches out instead of polishing ..
  9. If you could not use a wood tone background maybe white, it may help with showing the true color of the coin .
  10. Well it depends on your investment into this coin so far. I don't think it would grade much more than a 64 from the pictures. Just my opinion ? but it is not in my hand to look at. If it is graded as being cleaned well then it is worth whatever you can get above melt or it's sentimental value.
  11. It is a very lovely looking coin but it looks to perfect to me. The toning is the same on both sides. I have seen that before but it always makes me curious? Is it natural or not
  12. My original intent after the WWII set was 1938 to 1964 and I am still working on that but a lot of those years can get a bit pricey. So when I am searching for those coins with good deals and I find the under $10 range 64,65 and 66 FS. Well what the heck already slabed nickels. I try to snag them for the set they make my wife and wallet happy.
  13. Thanks Lem, They were not very high grade coins like your wonderful nickels, but they are all FS so I like that. and there are lots of slots to fill as you well know.
  14. Four more FS Nickels showed up today to fill the slots
  15. Yes the date is important Greg there were two Regular and two Satin P+D 2005 to 2010 and they called them SMS. not sure why ? maybe to make it confusing.
  16. That's cool thanks Mike that explains it better. I was using this reference Not the NGC one. which was the first thing that popped up when I did a search for that . https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/bu-coin-definition-768402#:~:text=Coin Grades,63) on the Sheldon scale.&text=Uncirculated (MS-60%2C MS,as bag marks and scrapes.
  17. Dang looks like I will miss that one also. I won't be down that way for 3 or more weeks.
  18. Welcome Frost Family . There is no grade on this coin just the BU which I think can represent 60 to 63 . Do others in your collection say BU or have a MS the grade. And does it matter if it is graded by someone other than NGC. I am just wondering in case I see something out there. I will post a link here for you?
  19. I don't have a Henning yet. Maybe some day I will find one.
  20. It's ok to ask . That's how we learn
  21. I saw this Commemorative with the box and paperwork for $6 at the antique store and said why not it is a DCAM
  22. I think VkurtB has around 80,000 coins so he would have to have more lines and a lot of time to enter them. I know if I start entering coins in a program it is going to cut into my coin hunting time and that is tough enough.
  23. I agree Alex. I never liked the scary looking liberty lady. She just looks like she is mad at someone.
  24. That's a tough one ? It has sharp edges from the looks so that would make me think MD or Mechanical Doubling. I have to say some of the new listings of DD can be odd . There are no DD listings for that coin that I can find around the normal spots to look.
