  1. I am not sure? Something is bothering me on this coin the lettering does not look right. Nothing has that doubled look. It could be the angle of the photo
  2. It also looks like some ghosting going on. On the reverse
  3. I am not sure If I would send this in if you are looking for a au 50 ,maybe a VF and that will still cover the expense of grading. It has a lot of scratches and wear on the high areas. Just my opinion, maybe some of the more experienced members can give you a better answer.
  4. I have shopped here and got lucky looking for hard to find dates.https://www.smyrnacoin.com/Mint-State-Silver-Eagles-s/231.htm
  5. Welcome again Anthony, That's a cool find, Perhaps when it was graded it was a extra to add special wording and the owner did not want to pay for it or did not know to request it...?
  6. Thank you for your input Idhair. I have seen this before on other coins and I agree it is a worn die. I was just wondering if anyone had maybe seen a reference or a name for it. I guess we will just call it what it is, Die Deterioration. Thanks
  7. Hi all , Kind of a neat find in my Daughters coin jug. On this 1995 we have a bit of a offset strike and the letters got stretched out on the high spot . It makes the letters look like they have horns. The S has a split serif like a DD. It also caused the same effect on the reverse. No match ups on Variety Vista but I wanted to post it and see if anyone knows if there is a particular name for this type of strike.
  8. Yes Welcome CoinJockey 73, It is always good to see another roll hunter out there.
  9. I would take a wild guess and say VKurtB has known more Numismatic dealers and collectors than I will ever know in my lifetime.
  10. Welcome Dave , It is a little off center inside the case, I think it would have to be off center 10 to 15 % to be something of a rarity.
  11. Nice looking coins. I am no expert for sure, but the 1921 may just be tray scratches from handling. The other sides of the bust and torch look natural no visible scratches but it is hard to tell with a straight on shot. I wish you luck with you submissions.
  12. Wow that is in good shape for a 65 year old coin
  13. I see a hit mark on the obverse exactly opposite of the rim marks your looking at Karen. I think it is just transfer damage of whatever it was on top of. Maybe another coin who's to say just a observation on my part.
  14. There is a shop near me that has some war tokens. I have never really got into them. yours is nice ... I may have to look at them again.
  15. We see coins all the time and say the same thing. Why do they do it.???? Who knows.
  16. Ya I know what you mean, these rings are more like a rubber. Even though they are made for coins I still check on them to be sure.
  17. I keep all mine in airtight holders. I am just waiting for that black foam ring to turn them gold some day.
  18. Cool finds. Was it a auction or just a sale ?
  19. Yes I go there a lot. Thanks tj96........I got this coin from NE just because I thought it was the nicest looking ,ugly coin I had ever seen.I have to say there is just way to much stuff going on the obverse
  20. I have been looking for two coins Lexington and Pilgrim both coins are from my home state and I passed on both coins last April at a MS 63 . I find those two commemoratives like others are a poorly stricken coin so I have been in search of something that actually looks like a 63 instead of a AU 55 which most do, and now they are respectfully much higher in price than what they were last year. I always say I will wait and something will come along but I may have missed the boat on those coins.
  21. That 64 is a bit scratchy if it was cleaned they used 80 grit sand paper but still a nice coin to find if you just got it in change. I think the MM has just been pushed around a bit.
