  1. Just a little dirt or oil from someone touching it at some point in its days. I think the shadowing is from skin oil. Or spaghetti sauce splatter from Pasquale eating while he is playing cards in the vault room at the casino.
  2. I agree with Woods. Nice coins but it will cost you more money to grade them than they are worth.
  3. Looking at the 1940 D it may have some doubling ? Two of the markers look close but the L in LIB on my coin is not quite the same. http://varietyvista.com/04a JN DD Vol 1/DDO Detail Pages/1940DDDO001.htm
  4. You have a well circulated 1901 that is worth it's weight in silver, a nice keepsake reminder of your Grandmother. That makes it priceless for you and that's all that matters.
  5. It is not likely it will get a 65. I think maybe 64 if you get someone grading on a good day but most likely a 63. Alex said it looks like it was in a bezel. I think that may be the ring look I see on the reverse.
  6. These three Nickels also came in today. Two MS 66 FS and a sweet 1968 D it is hard to find FS in the later 60's but I thought this one was nice looking.
  7. This coin came in today. I am happy with the looks of this MS63. I have a nice 1901 that I was going to send out but with the cost of grading it was cheaper to buy this one then send out the raw one and hope for a same or better grade.
  8. That is a very nice looking MS 64. Congrats the rainbow color looks nice on it.
  9. I would think there is also a submission fee to go with that $18 error fee and maybe some postage for shipping ?
  10. Welcome N H Ourso . Everyone that has said it is a O with a hit or a dent are trying to help. These members know there coins inside and out. No one wants to see you spend money on a damaged coin.
  11. I was wondering if the coins were in a tube it looks like 20 coins?
  12. Welcome Jennifer, Hog is correct I would just leave them the way they are and buy some MS quality all ready graded coins. If you have any questions on a coin before you spend your hard earned money make a thread for the coin you are looking to buy and post it on that thread. There are many here who will help you to learn what to look for in a coin.
  13. Also, There are some people out there that advertise 4FS ..No No No there is only 5 and 6 FS
  14. I have a feeling you may have paid a little more for your coin. It is very nice
  15. I agree Walter, I have a lot of Morgan's in higher grades than this coin that do not have a DML field like this one has the cartwheel affect is quite nice on this piece. The photo does not do it justice.
  16. Well I was unable to find anything that was cheap while I was on vacation and when I got back home my go to Nickel place did not have any of my kind of deals. However they did have a real sweet MS 63 that was in my( Cheap Old Man ) price range which is very hard to find with all these crazy high Morgan prices lately. So here is a nice looking straight grade MS 63 No + or CAC just a good looking coin.
  17. I think it is more like incorrect information being pushed out into the uneducated and unsuspecting public. Numismatics is not as easy hobby as most people think there are so many variables and things to consider. What you don't know can hurt you, or your wallet.
  18. Yes I did see that ? it looks like a package deal. I hope it was not something special from the internet shysters. At least it can go back to the bank for a refund of sorts.
  19. Well the coin from the OP is PDM to me but it has been 6 months from the original post ? It is more likely the first OP sent it back into the wild and Briar ended up with it. Or maybe he has something totally different ? Stuff does get past quality control if it did not we would have no errors to find. LoL
  20. OH my, That is a lot of tail feathers to look at. If I was to take a guess I would say there will not be one in the bank rolls. If the tubes are uncirculated still a very very long shot. You see only 5000 coins( maybe ) were made and sent out to Cheerios separate before the 760 million regular coins were struck. Good luck hunting.
  21. Thanks Woods, I already have the 75th I ordered it in 2021 because it was going to be a anniversary issue and that is what led me to look for the the 50th anniversary issue. The ones I have are the spiral books but the hard covers you may want to hang on to there is a listing with prices in the back of the 2022 red book and most issues are collectable. I bet even RWB books are collectable ( but don't tell him he may ask for more money)
  22. Well I have no need for a lot of Red books but a 50th anniversary book and this year 75th I think is just a kind of fun to have . It is fun to look up to compare some of the prices of the coins in 25 years. And for the price of a scratch ticket I get a piece of history.
  23. I can't say I collect them Woods. It just so happens that this year was the 75th anniversary and after I got it I said to myself it would be cool if I found the 50th anniversary Red Book in a yard sale or antique store. Well there it is LoL The other book was just a nice quick reference book that was only $2.. I have some world coins at home I can look up.
