  1. IMHO....That's a high price. They're selling on ebay graded PF70, for $140 and up. But hey, if someone is willing to pay your price...good for you!
  2. I bought the last 5 Libertys the mint had, at the Chicago coin show. NGC is grading them and giving me the ANA/coin show label. I believe that label will increase the value of the coin. Someone's selling them for $499.99 on ebay. I highly doubt they will sell at that price, but I think they'll be worth more than $193. I guess time will tell.
  3. Yes, I asked for opinions. No, I'm not butthurt. I appreciated the responses except for yours. Everyone else was polite and gave their opinion in a professional manner. Imo, calling someone "stupid" is just bad taste and shows your immaturity. You're entitled to your opinion, just as is everyone else. But to blast out a huge picture that calls me stupid is just bad taste....... period.
  4. Dear "Dorothy" I didn't want to write a book and tell you my entire financial situation and/or tell you all about my other investments. So if that makes me stupid, so be it. I also didn't want to bore others with the details. However, I will say this. I take 10% of my investment funds and put it into gold and silver. The rest is invested in other avenues, which I won't bore you with. I'd love to tell you how I really feel, but I refuse to stoop down to your level. But I do hope your comment made you feel like a big man. I would hate to see your inflated ego get bruised.
  5. I've been coin collecting for quite a few years now. I bought some gold, but mainly I was buying bullion and silver proof American Eagles, silver proof sets, silver proof coins, Presidential dollars and many more different types of coins. I bought mostly from the mint, people I trusted or graded coins for sale on ebay. I started stacking about a year ago. I'm stacking because I have concerns about the economy and the US dollar. So I started buying large and small lots of generic silver rounds and bars. My goal with stacking, is to get the biggest bang for my buck, in case the dollar gets into trouble. That way, I'll have another source to buy goods, if it comes down to that. Some people have told me that stacking the American Eagles and Maple Leaf's etc. is the way to go. They keep telling me they'll retain their value and most likely always go up, like they are now. But I bought the Eagles and other proofs for my collection, not for stacking. So I'm wondering what you all think is the best "type" of silver to stack, if you were doing it because of general fear of the economy and the dollar. What's your opinion and/or what are you stacking? Thanks.
  6. Well, you may not be connected to NGC, but you all seem to know what you're talking about. It's comforting to know that many of you know what you're talking about. I got tired of dealing with "armchair" quarterbacks in the numismatic world.
  7. To: Rwb, Woods020,DWLange and others......I guess I did make a big mistake. I didn't know you all were "tied in" with NGC. I thought you were random coin collectors, who helped others. I see that many of you have experience, but I didn't know about the connection. Over the years, I've been given bad information by so called "expert's" way too many times. It would probably make your head spin! I never put the connection together with you all and NGC and that's my fault. It's reassuring that you know what you're talking about and I will definitely remember that going forward. I thought this was like any other chat board. But when I saw people responding and saying things like they were talking to the graders, it obviously made me wonder. So I apologize if I came off not listening to your advice. I also appreciate everyone taking the time to respond to my posts and others.
  8. VKurtb, I don't use the other email anymore.
  9. Sorry, but I don't know the first thing about XRF analysis and I don't care to know anything about it. It's a coin and if I lose $18, my life won't end.
  10. Coinbuff, when I registered for NGC, I used my business email. Then I also registered with my personal email, but wasn't able to post to the chats. NGC had to fix it and that's why I'm now posting under my personal email. I had 3 coin shops look at the coin. It turned out that the most reliable one had checked with the owner and the owner said it wasn't an error. But the other 2 were baffled. So it sounds like to me, that if you you forum "posters" are correct, then you all need to replace the coin dealers in my area! But here's my question again. Here's what I put on the NGC submission form: "Mint error." Metal content is off but weight is within tolerance. Copper content is very low and there is no zinc, Color is not copper and nickel content is high. So will this be evaluated and evaluated as a possible error? I'm fine with it not coming back as a bonified error. I just want to make sure they do everything they can, to evaluate it. That's all I want for my $18!
  11. I'm not real confident with it coming back as an error coin. But I guess time will tell.
  12. Based on the responses I got, (Posted March 28th under: Investinrehabs), I doubt it's an error coin. But I thought it was worth a few bucks to find out. Here is my original post. I had it under a different users name: I'm not a newbie, but I'm baffled by a 1979 Lincoln, (no mint mark), cent I have. I went to 3 coin shops and all three of them told me that they're baffled as well. The composition of the cent is as follows: 69.79% Nickel....29.99% Copper and .22% Lead. It looks like a "steel" cent. However, there is no steel in it and it doesn't stick to a magnet! All 3 coin shops looked at it closely and said it does not look like it's a counterfeit. It doesn't resemble a copper cent at all as far as the "color" goes. Has anyone ever run across one of these? I researched it and can't find one single article about it. The pictures I'm attaching make it look like a copper cent, but it looks just like a steel cent. I'm very curious if anyone has run across one of these. It looks like "copper" in the pictures but in person it doesn't.
  13. I just sent in my Congratulations set to NGC, to be graded. This is the first time I've ever submitted any coins to be graded. I also had a "possible" error cent. On the submission form, I checked "mint error." I then typed out why I thought it might be an error coin. Are they going to grade it as an error, or did I mess up on how I submitted it?
  14. I'm "shocked" that NGC said they would hold your coins until you could pay! With the amount of business they do, I think they went beyond the call of duty for you. Just my 2 cents.
