  1. Oh and Welcome to the forum It is hard to see the with this photo but it looks to be the regular strike coin not the pattern one.
  2. There is not a big market for these coins unless they are almost perfect, you will have to cross reference them with the real deal ones in the red book or on the NGC site.
  3. Very Nice. That is very cool. Kurt.. I want to remind everyone that is not a ANA member that there is a big discount this week if they want to join before the 25th.
  4. Well I have not found any great deals on coins this trip. However I did find a good deal on some coin books a 1997 50th Anniversary Red Book and a 1987 Modern World Coin book for $2 a piece. That's fine by me.
  5. Sounds like you got a big hit. Congrats I would love to see the Morgens or any FS coins
  6. Looks nice Bill that is the same type box the commemoratives come in. So what is the going price for the proof now at the mint Bill . Why did they stop making them only a certain amount minted for the year?
  7. Good luck with your coin Kevine. I have a few of these proof sets. I like them as is and what VKurtB said it is not likely you will get a high grade and it may cost more to grade it than the coin will be worth in the end.
  8. Welcome jmac. I was wondering you said many coins were in paper rolls? Do any look old or have bank names on them? If you have any photos you want to post. Some collectors like that stuff also.
  9. You can do brain surgery with that one. I think I would need brain surgery if I needed a scope that intense.
  10. Hi Walter. I would wait and do a little more investigating before sending this in , I am no expert on these coins but there are some members here that can help with that.
  11. So is it more like someone put a varnish or shellac on it I have seen that before? Maybe a angle shot would give a better look at it?
  12. Sorry Dejone.. Looks like a parking lot coin to me. Maybe even a snow plow parking lot coin. We could give it a designation like SPPLC.. Once global warming takes over they will be hard to find.
  13. If you are new to collecting post your questions and we will try to help out. My opinion for what it is worth. I would not buy ungraded coins on line! Only in hand, at shows or in a coin shop and I would still be carful when doing that until you get to know your coins. The NGC and PCGS grading charts help a lot. If you want try to buy a few graded coins that are ln holders like NGC or PCGS you can get some cheap Low MS coins then it will give you something to go buy. Good luck on your collecting it can be a fun journey.
  14. Welcome back Greg, It is hard to see the Liberty, The L looks odd and are there splits on the E and T ? I love the 9 tails for sure that's cool. I hope it gets a new listing.
  15. It could be a void under the surface not sure if it was in the die It don.t look like a grease spot
  16. I will give it a try if you like? it will not change it. It is interesting LoL
  17. It is a $5 Liberty Head. Also called a Half Eagle. It is hard to tell from a picture gold is not easy to judge from photos' it is even hard in hand.
  18. I thought it was a mark in the flip but it is a defect a bump in the sun that got hit. I did not see it until I took the picture. The camera picks up what the eye can't see Oh well that's my fault for not looking at it with a loupe.
  19. Everyone is very knowledgeable here and always try to help. I know your coin is something that looks similar Anthony. It is not easy when Identifying coins, To try to match up a coin with Wexler or Verity Vista or NGC you also have to match up all the markers they post to be in the same ball park?
  20. Thanks Hog ,It is actually a key date also . It is the last year with the U without a foot or serif on it. LoL I think we were all talking about that U a while back
  21. Well I went to the Coin Purse today and did some shopping. I found the last BU coin I was missing in my ASE collection. I have a proof 2007 I picked up last year to fill the whole but I was unable to find a BU one last year. It was a hard one to find for them and a few other coin shops but they had one for me today so now it is complete.
  22. The 1968 S is a very common Mechanical Doubling coin. There are a bunch out there that have MD everywhere. here is a link to the last ones we posted here .
  23. I don't think RWB meant any disrespect. As collectors we just know that lots of coins that get handed down have the potential to have been cleaned at one time or another. I have morgens and peace dollars that have been in my collection for 50 years and all were cleaned before I got them. Not much I can do about it. I just enjoy them for what they are.
