I just received this coin back from Dr. Wiles. Here's what he said, "heavy and large die gouge". Thanks to everyone who commented on this.

Thanks to all that responded to this post. I was unable to find any information about this coin or any like it. What should I do with now? Any advice would be appreciated.

This 1988 D Roosevelt dime has a semi circular raised line(s), under the word America. I have not seen this before. My question is, what are we seeing here and what may have caused it ?

Thanks for the advice. I would like to send it to anacs for encapsulation as discovery coin. Most likely will never find another. Any advice for submission to anacs, as I have not used them before only NGC.

Received coin and letter from J. Wexler today. This coin is now listed, 2007-D 25¢ UT WDDR-001

Thank you Hoghead for the offer. I have already sent the coin in to Mr Wexler and he should receive it tomorrow. Initially I sent pictures into coneca via attribution, which I believe is private and Bob Piazza responded that it appears to be dd. I've been waiting for instructions for examination but haven't heard back. That is why I posted it here and sent it to Mr.Wexler. I will post what it is when I hear back.

Hopefully this turns out to be a new find. Normally I look for errors that have been published, without a lot of luck.

Looking at my mint uncirculated set I don't see any doubling on either the "D" or "P" on the spike. Since I'm a novice my only recourse is to research and ask questions for what I don't know. I have only found this one coin, and have not seen any information on it.

I have sent this coin to John Wexler for examination. Hopefully within a few weeks I will find out if this is infact a ddr or some other doubling. Looking at the 3 listed "P" ddr this is much larger than those.

Thanks for the time to address this. I found this coin several years ago and put it away until recently. I'm looking for other opinions if it appears worthy of attribution. I have sent pictures to coneca and got a response from an attributer who believes that it is a unlisted ddr. I'm awaiting instructions on sending in for attribution and would like to know what others would do.
