  1. I have wanted one of the Landis Schlag nickel strikes for a while now and just recently ordered the #14 gold 2021 piece. Can’t wait to get it in hand. That is a very nice collection you have there. Quite an impressive group.
  2. Looks like wear on the cheekbone and in the hair on both sides of the ear. I say AU as well.
  3. I think proof Jeffs would be right up your alley @GBrad Lots of varieties for you to search for.
  4. I refer to this as the “almost” sticker. The GE on the end of MAC stands for grade enhancement I believe if I remember correctly. They will put stickers on like “4 full steps” on a nickel or “PL” or “DMPL” on coins that don’t actually have that attribution on the TPG label, and then charge a substantial premium. CAC stickers are one thing and will bring a premium, but these MAC stickers, IMO are a whole different box of frogs, and don’t mean a whole lot for the markups you will pay. Like I said, this is my opinion only, and others may feel different about it. Here is an article from coinworld on these stickers. https://www.coinworld.com/news/precious-metals/florida-firm-stickering-certified-coins-with-grade-enhancements.html
  5. He is hitting it hard for sure and doing a great job finding nice coins. Always room for one more nickel guy in the brotherhood. Thanks my fellow nickel brother. I appreciate that a lot. Keep up the good work. I may have to have you start doing my nickel shopping for me.
  6. Congratulations to all the winners this year! Congrats to @Coinbuf and @Revenant. I was not expecting anything this year and I am truly excited, humbled, and honored to win anything. Thanks to all my friends out there, and a big THANK YOU to NGC. Lem
  7. Congratulations to all the winners, and THANK YOU to NGC. I am more than humbled. It is truly an honor.
  8. I just bought this one a few days ago. I am fairly new at attributing these large cents, but I believe it is a N-12 / Die stage (B). That would put this as an R-1. This was done solely based on the seller pics and I will have to confirm once I get the coin in hand. **EDIT** N-12 confirmed.
  9. That is awesome my friend. That is very cool that it was a new find. Congratulations!
  10. Thank you my friend, and it is a pleasure to do these for you and get a chance to see all of these amazing coins from your collection. I don’t consider it work at all. My part is easy. You do all the hard work.
  11. I don’t log out either, but every time I turn around I am logged out of the chat. Sometimes I am logged out completely.
  12. I’m not sure when the steps became a thing of interest, but I believe the first group to get into the full step nickels was P.A.K. From what I have read, this club was started in 1977 by 3 members. Philip Petrillo - Adolph Weiss - Karl Nenninger. The initials of their first names created the P.A.K. They put out a grading guide in 1979 for full step nickels. I’m not saying this is all correct or verified. This is just some info I have come across. Others may be able to elaborate more on this subject.
  13. I have noticed something that is happening with logging into the chat boards. I have had the issues of logging in and being logged into the registry but not on the chat, and logging out of the registry and back in was working. What I just now noticed is if you check the “remember me” box before logging in, it will not log you into the chat. If I don’t check that box, it will work. Just putting that out there.
  14. It’s hard to pay the money for some of these later year coins. Most of them are just terrible looking. I will admit I have a few that I am not super proud of, but some years are just rough. Especially after seeing nice 30s coins and the war nickels. A lot of them are great looking pieces and then along comes the 50s and 60s. Some are lucky to have one step. Some are lucky to have a porch at all.
  15. I wouldn’t even put myself at seasoned. I still feel I am pretty green when it comes to a lot of this stuff. I try to do my research though. Thanks for the info my friend. I will definitely check out that EAC guide.
  16. Thanks brother. I think I am around 10 shy from completing the 38-64 set. This is one I did not have. I have upgraded several slots though. Still looking for a few hard ones like the 49P and some 50s and 60s pieces. It gets hard to find decent looking coins in the later years. Not to mention, they start getting real pricey for not so eye appealing coins.
  17. I have thought about getting into large cents as I am starting to wind down on the Jeffs. I have one piece so far and I have picked up 2 books. The Grellman book and the Newcomb book. They are pretty similar books and really only cover the different varieties. I’d like to find a book with a little more general info. Probably pick up the redbook version. They are usually pretty good. If anyone has any suggestions on good reference material for large cents, I am all ears. Get better @Mohawk.
  18. I got something in the mail today myself. Nice little 50 Philly. Nice all over champagne tone with some die cracks. Not bad for a 1950 P.
  19. I’ll bet those are some beauties. Nice grabs.
  20. Nice looking piece brother. Is it toned a little at the top left?
  21. Thats even better. Works out for everyone. Once again, nice piece and kudos on the set.
  22. It fills that hole nicely. Congrats on the completed set.
