  1. Thanks TJ. There are a few toners in there. I’m always game to see some Jeffs.
  2. Wow, here’s an old thread. Not even close to full. I’m at 37 coins so far. Like I said, it’s a slow go. I have acquired 3 other Dansco albums since this one. One for circ Walkers, one for circ Barber quarters, and I put my completed state quarters in one. Only need 7 more Walkers and that one will be done. About 27 coins into the Barbers. Mostly well circulated coins. Same with the Walkers. Here are the update pics for ya TJ.
  3. I always liked the all over gold toners. Nice pick ups.
  4. I wish you luck with that brother. My shop would tank quickly.
  5. Thats a beauty. How are you going to be able to stop yourself from trying to keep everything for your own collection? To me, that would be the tough part.
  6. Good looking coin CB. Nice and clean with original skin. I like the tone on it. Congrats.
  7. Sorry to say these look like two well circulated quarters with some damage on the obverse worth face value only. The only thing to really note about these is that they are the first clad (no silver) quarters made.
  8. What I usually do is use a coffee cup or as Bob suggested a stack of books or something to give a little distance between the phone and the coin to let a little light in. You may have to adjust your set up a little depending on your light source. Zoom in on the coin to where it fills most of the screen and click. Just make sure the phone is stable on the cup or books to where there is no shake when you hit the button. Then you can go into edit and finish crop. Just play around with it and you will get the hang of it.
  9. I just checked out your new site. Looks really good brother. Congrats on getting it up and running. Pretty straight forward navigation. I hope you do well with it.
  10. I would like to start by thanking all of you for your opinions, advice, and observations. I appreciate, value, and respect each members input. As much as I like this coin, I don’t think it is the right piece for me. After pouring over this coin for hours, I am convinced that it will be returned. While I do think it is a beautiful piece, there are a few things I can’t get past. As we all know, it is hard to judge and grade a coin by pictures alone. Photos of coins will usually bring out things we don’t see by the naked eye. I of course have the advantage of having the coin in hand, and it is a very nice piece. In my unprofessional opinion I would put this coin at a 67. It has clean surfaces, good luster and a fairly good strike with minimal marks and of course the color is outstanding. I agree that this coin got a grade bump from the color. Unfortunately the marks are mostly confined to the face of Jefferson and are in a main focal point. As much as I wanted to love this piece, I can’t get past the distracting marks. Maybe I am too picky and I am quite hard on my coins. For the grade and price point, there should be no question in my mind, but there is. It’s like seeing the most beautiful girl in the world and then you see her smile and she is missing a tooth. Once again, thank you all for the input. The hunt continues. Have a wonderful day.
  11. I acquired a coin recently, and upon further inspection I noticed that a spot on the coin that I thought was carbon turned out to be what I think is a small detached lamination. My question is should this coin have graded as high as it did? Should a lamination or planchet flaw bring the grade down? I am going to supply pictures of the coin and some close ups of the spot. Any comments or advice is welcome, and thanks in advance. The spot in question is on the obverse of the coin on the cheekbone. If you think this is something other than a lamination, please comment. These are pictures taken with my phone through a regular microscope of the spot. I hope they are sufficient enough. It was not easy.
  12. I have a few new pieces for the Jeff set accumulating. Waiting on one more to show up and then off for imaging they will go. This is one of them.
  13. This may help you. https://coinweek.com/modern-coins/type-i-and-ii-1979-and-1981-susan-b-anthony-dollars/
  14. These coins have the edge lettering that can be both ways. This is a result of the minting process. The coins are struck, ejected into a bin, and then they will go through an edge incusing machine that creates the edge lettering. Depending on how the coin enters the edge machine determines the position of the lettering. TPGs will refer to this as position A and B. (I’m not sure which is which.) This is on business strikes. The proofs are done a little differently and should all be the same with the lettering towards the obverse.
  15. I was watching this coin auction hoping to get it for under the BIN price of the same coin from the same seller. They actually have 3 or 4 of these at the BIN of $286. So I am about to place a bid, and the price jumps up to this. I just don’t get it. I’ll bet the seller is laughing all the way to the bank. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1963-Jefferson-Nickel-NGC-MS67-GEM-BU-A4-409-009-/393877366882?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
  16. If Coneca told me to send it then that is what I would do. Even as a minor variety, it would be cool to have your name associated with the attribution.
  17. I am no expert by any means. I just happened to notice this one day while looking at my coins.
  18. Here’s a fun fact about your 1938 nickel. If you look at the obverse legends, they used a slightly different font. It’s easiest to tell by looking at the word LIBERTY. The 38 is the only one that uses this font and it was done at all 3 Mints. I made this little collage to help me see the differences. Congrats on the new pick ups.
