He didn't say the chores wouldn't be done, just that he is giving up doing them.

What’s a “vac-cu-umh?” And what does it do?

SO SAD, to announce this: after many years of coin collecting.... I am posting this with a heavy heart. I love coin collecting and everything that comes with it... but I am officially done in #2022! This is taking up too much of my time. I’m struggling to keep up with the everyday chores of cooking, cleaning and maintaining the home, so something must give. I have decided to get rid of all my gear and supplies. Below is a list of what's available. Serious inquiries only, and please don't insult me with low offers. Thanks for reading and understanding... 1. Vacuum cleaner 2. Dustpan and broom 3. Mop and bucket 4. Pots and pans 5. Toilet bowl brush and cleaner 6. Laundry detergent 7. Iron 8. Work clothes 9. Lunch bag 10. Winter jacket and boots Any serious offer will be considered. Every little bit helps for more time to coin hunt. -

No I was actually trying to be helpful. You came to a newbie forum and said you weren’t getting facts, so I gave them to you. I never intended to imply you can’t figure out melt value, or that you were in some way incompetent. I was actually trying to say it’s better to have a gold coin with problems than an expensive silver coin with problems. But shame on me for trying to be helpful and nice.

I'm interested in the iron... Is that the kind the Mint used to sell as scrap- such as old dies? Let me know. I can pay in gold for the right kind of "old iron."

Kath,
It may be to your advantage to post some of the coins you are about to submit here and get some feedback before spending the money. Not trying to dissuade you in any way, but numismatics is a complex hobby as you are learning. It is difficult when you first start out to make sense of it all, and that is where we can try and be of help. For example, the Franklin halves you are wanting to send in. If they are circulation strike coins you should get opinions on if they are really full bands or not. Those halves are a heartbreaker, and they are strict on giving that attribution. More often than not people feel it is FBL but it isn't, and they find that out the expensive way. If they are proof as Bob stated FBL doesn't apply. We would rather see you get a good start in the hobby and stick with it than spend unneeded money and be turned off from collecting by the results.

It could have been. I can’t seem to find it. But it did have a little scene on die polishing, which I believe they said lapping instead of polishing. But I wouldn’t swear to it.

I remember watching a video the The Royal Mint that showed them engraving and preparing proof dies. They used several different levels of Diamond paste on small pieces of balsa wood, kind of like tongue depressors, to polish the proof dies. Not sure if they repolished them that way or not.

Welcome to my current hell 😂
Thats my problem. Some things I’ll list for sale, but it will be at a price someone has to talk me out of it. If it sits there I am perfectly ok with that.
