  1. That's a lot of dimes.... Reminds me of the heaviest coin deal I had ever done. It was just about a half ton of wheat cents, 26 bags. I sold them to a well known Philadelphia numismatist who came to get them in a Ford Escort. "Oh yea, we'll put some in the trunk, on the seats, on the floor......" I was laughing as his sparking car was going down the street.....
  2. I remember passing on a 1 dollar Bechtler for 700 bucks some years ago.......I would imagine that looks like a bargain today.
  3. Oh, that's a shame. Condolences to his family !
  4. No it didn't.....I missed that word in your original post.
  5. I like a lot of the Swiss issues. The designs have been quite modern and many appeared to be ahead of their time. Whatever that means. This 5 Franc Einstein for example......
  6. I don't have a lot of FedEx experience, but I did buy a set of 4 tires this Summer that were shipped through them. Of course, the tires were shipped together, and I kept getting emails from FedEx, keeping me updated. Well, I met the truck that afternoon, and out came 3 tires. "Just three ?" I ask the driver......"It's the FedEx way", he says......The fourth tire was lost.......They were pretty quick to confirm it though, within a few days. Confirm that it was lost, I mean.
  7. Darn, the descriptive thread title really piqued my interest.
  8. I would always defend Littleton. Yes, their prices are high, but you will receive exactly what you ordered. You bought a 1908 S Indian cent in fine, that's what you'll get. You may have paid up for it, but you weren't scammed. As mentioned previously, they are also very strong buyers. They're picky, but the pay strong money. I can't imagine how many thousands of people they've introduced to coin collecting over the past many, many years. I dealt with them in the 60's. It kept my interest going as a kid......
  9. Details like this can often occur from grease, or even dirt, making it's way into some of the details of the die.
  10. I've never seen this, but it's pretty sharp ! At that size, maybe more like a so-called half dollar.
  11. Looks like it was the place to be. I've heard a lot of good things. I would have had to spend some time across the hall and buy something cool to drive home in.......
  12. Boy, that sure is pretty. It's possible that those field marks behind the base of his neck will really hurt. I think they will definitely keep it out of the five camp.
