Need your opinion if this half cent will make it in a NGC slab?

1834 Classic Head Half Cent I bought this 1834 half cent on ebay not long ago and needed your input if it looks original. I know there were many of these recolored and cleaned long ago. This one has very few contact marks, no hairlines and nice even brown color. I would like to have it slabbed by NGC but my expertise is IHC type and proofs. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated. What do you think it would grade?

A Year in Review Commentary.

Happy New Year!! Greetings everyone!! As I sit here and write this entry, I have to say I do so with a great joy, and a great sense of pride and fulfillment that I think only ones collection, no matter what that collection is, can bring. In about 1983, I started collecting baseball cards with my fellow high school friends, with whom I shared a great sense of comraderie, and got a great deal of help from these people. They shared with me how to care for the cards, shared the adresses of

This could be my last journal of the year.

For me it was a pretty good year I will fall short of my goal of finishing my peace dollar collection by two. I have a submission in receiving five proofs the three Veterans proofs and the two Jamestown proofs. I am also looking for 2008 Ase's raw ones for grading. I also picked up a 1991-95 WW II anniversary unc silver dollar when I visited my local coin shop today. Hats off to Rich at the COIN XChange Wickliffe Oh. for keeping prices low and very fair treatment for all. Its been fun reading

RE:coins _69 can't read or understand english

There is no need to be aggresive and insultive! First of all,I didn't not insult you in my journal reply. You wrote about First Strikes and Early Releases claiming that you only meant NGC,not PCGS.Let me once again remind you that NGC do NOT have FIRST STRIKES designation, they only have EARLY RELEASES which is not available for 10th anniversary sets. PCGS will assign FIRST STRIKE designation to 10th Anniversary sets and therefore dealers/sellers that you did mention are right in saying that t

Dont you hate it when people put their 2 cents in and are broke I specified in my listing,"Ngc is not putting the special designations on these coins".I didnt specify anything about pcgs in any of my statements.Pcgs is crappy anyway.I was telling ngc collectors to beware of this scam label if they think they are buying it to send it ngc to get this special designation. If I wanted to tell people about pcgs, then I will go to the pcgs website. For someone who ranks a 0 in points score really knows

Beware! No early releases or first strikes for 10th Anniversery platinium

buyers beware To anyone who has a 10th anniversery platinum set,or trying to get a 10th anniversery platinum set.Watch Out!!!!Many dealers on ebay are trying to tell you these are eligable for the early release or first strikes.Ngc is not putting the special designations on these coins.Do not waist extra money if the dealers are telling you this. This is a scam!!!!!If you get a sealed box from the mint,do not open it.The box will not say U.S.Mint as the sender. It will read"fulfillment center" f

Branching Out...a little

New coins, and new excitement!! Greetings everyone, I hope you all had the best Festivus EVER!! So, the other day I began contemplating what I want to do so far as my numismania is concerned, namely IF I should branch out just a bit and what coins to branch out with. I decided on the "First Day of Issue Covers" namely the Presidential Dollar 1st day covers from the mint. Now, don't get me wrong here. The Silver Eagles will always be my main point of interest, I will keep my subscripti

It came the day after Christmas!

My 2006 W Silver Eagle. Yesterday I finally got the coin I've been waiting on all week. I finally have my 2006 W Silver Eagle. I got one pre-graded MS69 by NGC with the Early Release label for about $93 after shipping. I only have 7 SAEs left unless you count the 2008 (which I don't, yet).

REGISTRY RISK

THRILL OF COMPETITION VS THE PASSION OF THE HUNT I RECENTLY CAUGHT MYSELF IN A EVIL THOUGHT: I CONSIDERED BUYING A COIN FOR THE SAKE OF ADVANCING IN THE REGISTRY COMPETITION. FOR THE BRIEFEST OF MOMENTS, I DREAMED A WICKED 1000+ POINTS ADVANCE. THEN THE MOMENT PASSED. THE COIN WAS A WINGED LIBERTY (MERCURY, FOR YOU HEATHENS) DIME NGC GRADED MS-67FB. I REJOICED IN FINDING IT, SUCH A STEEP GRADE,AND IMAGINED MYSELF APPROACHING THE TOP 25. BUT THE STRIKE WAS WEAK IN SEVERAL POINTS OF THE OB

71 Down, 1 More To Go

Only one more to complete set... With this addition, I only need one more coin to complete my set of Proof Jefferson Nickels. This coin is a 1940 Rev 1938 PF66* (the only NGC 66* coin) and there are only eight with a higher grade. It may be awhile due to the high cost of the last coin, but what do I do when I complete the set?

My Christmas Gift from the Mint, and I Can't Open it.

A Christmas Gift I Can't Open This morning I waited for the Fedex man to show up with my 10th Anniversary Platinum Eagles. The my bell rang, and I asked who is it. The man replied its Fedex. He could not get to the 4th fast enough. I waited want seem like days. I opened the door, and he still wasn't there. Then I heard someone coming from elevator, I waited, and I said to myself please hurry. The man turns the corner, and looks at me with a smile, and wishes Merry Christmas, and hands m

Gift from Santa

Actually, a submission return from NGC. ..I started collecting certified Silver Eagles in 2004 then, and still now some dealers and collectors don't think much about them as worth collecting! What they are missing is there is a new generation of collectors. They collector what they like and know. ..The Silver Eagle is a beautiful coin and will become more popular as time goes by. My goal was five sets of Proof Silver Eagles, one for me and one for each of my children. Also, I wanted five set

I've accomplished my short term goal.

I got my Lincoln Memorial Proof set onto the first page. Wow, I didn't think it would be this tough to put together a nice set of Proof Lincoln Memorial cents. I wanted to get my set into the top 25 of the registry before the end of the year, and with the addition of a perfect 1991-S, I've slid into #25. I'll continue to search for additions and upgrades for this set, and with a little luck and a bunch of money, I should be able to push closer to the top 10 before the end of 2008. That's my

I ordered 2 platinum sets

2 is better than 1 Despite the mints 1 per household rule.I ordered 1 set in my name and I had my aunt order the other set in her name. They will be shipped to 2 different addresses. This reverse proof will take off like a rocket. Now I have 2 sets comming. If I had the money I would buy 3..Now when these sets come in.They will be unopened and sent straight to NGC..To those who can afford it,buy them..The price is rising on them right now and the havent came out of the mint..For all thse who cant

A penny saved is a penny earned.

I believe many of the phrases will be obsolete after the 2009 pennies come out. I think it is very likely that the 2009 issue of the Lincoln cent will be the last. About the only thing you can buy with a penny is a wish in a well. Modern economics and the relative spiralling cost of copper will finally drive the cent into oblivion. What a sad day! I have been hoarding pennies for about 10 years and have somewhere between 10000 and 12000 of them put away. I also have a nearly complete Dan

Clay, Welcome to The Family We Have Missed You........

You will find out that VAM collecting is more fun than just collecting by date and mint mark....... Just wanted to keep the thread going....Clay (Member NGC Registry) just put up a journal about what he is collecting now and a picture of that Most beautiful of Morgan Dollars, the VAM Variety !!! I truly believe that VAM collecting will make the hobby of Numismatics much more enjoyable. Also in the long run for those that buy the book before they buy the coin, they will find out the investment
