Just "ONE" sorry dealer can "almost" ruin ones day!

But in the end, it turned out well, the law of "Reciprosity" Greetings Collectors, Yesterday, today and tommorow is Jacksonville Florida's anual coin show. It was a nice sunny day and while it started yesterday, I was tied up with work and made it down to the show today around noon. I do not remember ever seeing such a crowd at past shows here. We were suposed to have around 70 tables but there was close to a hundred. People from all age groups and I witnessed patrons doing nearly zero selli

1995 D Kennedy Half Dollar Struck Thru Error

Quite the Error Find! Going through another box of circulated half dollars and finding another 13 - 40% Silver Kennedy Halves, I just happened to glance at one of the roll ends that caught my eye for the date. I find this amazing that this Struck Thru Error which is quite the error made it to circulated rolls. Course if it had not been at the end of the roll face up, I, too, would have not found it either. Makes you wonder what else is sitting in a box waiting in some vault to be discovere

Sunny Saturday

Just the perfect amount of vitamin D Friends; I cut the grass last week which made a relaxing weekend this weekend. I grabbed my camera & took a few shots using the sunlight shining through my den window. The shots were so good I replaced all my coin pictures. Below is a shot of my new 1891CC.

My ASE PF set grows Hey everyone, Just wanted to share my new acquisitions with you. I have a new 1986S PF70, 2001 KH Silver PF70, 2002 KH Silver PF70, 2004 KH Silver PF70 on the way to me. This will be the last major purchase for a while. I have some recurring health issues that are back again and will be keeping very busy. I had to quit both of my jobs because of this illness (cancer). This is the 2nd round of treatment and it does not look good for the long haul. I had a goal of get

The Good Feeling of Helping Out

My supervisor needed some advice... Greetings!! I had a good coin experience a couple days ago when my supervisor (who is just dabbling in ungraded coins right now...but has some really nice Morgans) asked if I went anywhere locally to get coin supplies as he just bought about 150 Ike dollars and wanted to store them in some sealed tubes. I pointed him to a place not too far from where we work. He told me later they had what he needed and "thanks. Then he said something to me that made

What is a 70?

Can anyone really tell? NGC is no different than any other 3rd party Much of the grade is subjective not objective I think the real cut off between the 2 is probally a 65. If anyone can give purely objective grade above 65 I would love to hear it . This is the offical definition given by NGC its not the same as PCGS or ANACS NOR that of ANA. "What is a 70? NGC defines a Mint State or Proof 70 coin as having no post-production imperfections a

1913 Type 1 Rainbow Toned Buffalo Nickel Last Sunday I finally pulled the trigger on a beautiful rainbow toned Buffalo Nickel. I had been watching this one for several weeks now and could not stand watching it any more. So I bid on it and now it is mine. I picked it up from the Post Office this morning and after opening up the package, I was totally blown away by the colors this nickel possesses. They were much more vivid than the photos from the auction house. The obverse and reverse are to

Grades never came so fast Friends & Community; I sent in a few submissions for grades and figured 30+ days for grades. Usually in the past,15 day or 30 day grading would take 22-35 days. With my coins accepted last week I was amazed to get a e-mail= grades available. My 1901 Morgan graded AU-55 & my 1904s graded AU-50, a little lower than I figured but still pleasing. I still have 22 coins for a 30 day grade submission, if they come back in two weeks I might grow some of the hai

"In GOD We Trust"

"Just My 2 Cents Worth" I am not starting a debate or nothing , nor am I trying to down Nevermans comments. The phrase "In God We Trust" is on our monies for a reason, Its the very principals this country was founded on. Its one of the main reason I collect money to begin with. It is part of history , our history. Our country has already gotten away from so many other things that our fore fathers fought for, I am just trying to make sure this isnt one of them. On the same side of the coin, t

In ( fill in blank) We Trust

I can't help wonder exactly why this phrase "In God We Trust" has been such an issue on our (American) monies. Greetings! I have been having a pretty good spring, just started summer semester and my college classes have me busy writing a load of essays and discussions so I have been checking in here, but not really able to participate as much as I would like lately. So, I was admiring the newest Prezzies, and noticed that the "motto" has been moved from the edge to the front. I know thi

Who cleaned my coin?

From MS61 to body bag in 60 seconds..... I have been fascinated by the Gold Indian Head Half Eagles since I first saw its unique incuse design. I started collecting them in 2007 but gave up shortly after as they are too difficult to find in Australia where I live and most of the coins for sale in eBay I found were counterfeit. A few months back, my interest for this gold coin was rekindled and I managed to purchase a few raw coins and PCGS/NGC graded ones. I decided to upgrade my NGC member

It's not that they're worthless...

... I just think he's a twit for buying them. A couple of weeks ago I had an experience that I'm sure many of you have also been subjected to. I was talking to my family on the phone when my mother brought up that she'd talked to one of her fellow teachers about the "Obama coins." The moment I heard those words I was in a bad mood. I indicated that I didn't want to talk about it but she wouldn't listen. It's one of the few times I've really been tempted to hang-up on my mother. I hate those

Finally Home!!

Brailles and Lincolns are back. It took NGC a bit longer to get my coins back home but they are finally here. They sat in "received" for over a week and then took a bit longer to arrive in the mail. "Registered mail" is quite safe but VERY SLOW. The tracking never shows anything but "processed" and then "delivered". Anyways...the coins are awesome! These are the first "edge view" holders for me and the big coins look great in them. I got one Braille PF70UC and one Lincoln PF70UC and one more

What's in a grade?

My Lancaster is nicer than your Braille Hello everyone! I just got my Canadian coin back, and is it a beauty? WOW! It is so nice, I can say it is even nicer than MY PF69 Braille. Only 19 more to make a set, but anything is possible. To those that questioned my intensity with the Sacagawea sets, I say......I have diversified! Canadian proofs match anything we do. They even do holograms and pure gold (plated) cameos. Most of these are very limited also. Mintage on most is less than

A Possible Trade

Can't Pull the trigger yet I have located a 1856 0 $10.00 eagle in a grade 55, quite rare. Since I am not in the position to buy it outright I would be forced to trade two really good coins. The truth is my interest is in New Orleans gold, not in saints, yet I hate to get distroyed on a trade. I would have to part with a 1911(64) and a 1909(63) Can't seem to pull the trigger. Any thoughts?
