Illness provides time for reflection

What got me started collecting? I?m stuck at home sick and have been using the time to get back to my coins and it occurred to me it?s December 7th. This date has significance to my family and as I pondered that thought I decided it would be a worthy entry to my journal.   I was exploring the bios of other members thinking of getting one together for myself. best "bullion" buy I've made in a long while I love to write at this time of year in my journal. As a way to allow those of us with limited means to compete meaningfully for a trophy next year, I propose the following award categories via our "Signature Sets." (1) BEST TONED MODERN YEAR SET. Discovering the Fun of Circulated Coins

some trial and error Well I've reached an impasse in my Walker collecting. The remaining slots in my mid-date set cost 4 figures+ in the grades I want. I don't have the continual funds to be shelling out whenever a hole-filler arrives and at the same time I don't want to keep buying lower grades which eventually get replaced in the future. Only 10 slots to fill Well I finally completed adding all the coins in my set,with only 10 slots to filled. I left and came home with 5000 more points than I had! Hello All, Again WOW!! Just got home and checked the site and my score was 5005 points higher than when I left! Went from 206th to 203rd and didn't even do anything! I see that NGC re-evaluated the points for PF ASE's! You now get 2388 for a 1987S PF70 ASE! I am glad I have one!!! Another Year Almost Gone

How did my goals do? Hi everyone, Well, my main goal for the year was to finish my FBL Franklin set. At the start of the year, I needed to upgrade 5 coins and purchase 20 more. Well, the upgrades were easy. All 5 are now at least 64's, and the coins I upgraded are now residing in a more or less ungraded set. As for the 20 I still needed, I purchased 14 of them. Greetings everyone, three months ago, on a whim, I started a complete set of Morgan Dollars based on the New Orleans Mint, and now I stand within one coin of completing my set. Looked thru a bunch of Lincoln Wheaties! Well, my Lincoln wheat penny albums are a little fuller tonight. My project for this week, as I'm on vacation after having some dental surgery yesterday, was to look thru close to 10 rolls of wheat cents. Some things surprised me. 2010 In Review

It was a fun year. I would like to take a few minutes to jot down some thoughts about my collecting this year. I count myself blessed that in a tumultuous economy, I was able to continue collecting, albeit in a diminished capacity. I had set a goal at the beginning of the year to amass 20,000 registry points. Where to hide your valuable coins ?

It has to to be a (SAFE) place for me Like many coin collectors in this great registry, I realized where to keep my coins a long time ago. A lot of collectors asked me where do I keep my collection. It?s the Little Things That Make This Hobby Great!

Or how a simple MS66RD penny reminded me of my youth.
