Obtained a 1946-S Jefferson Nickel NGC MS67 from Eternity Coin (E-Bay) for $95 and 163 registry points.
This coin was purchased using the BIN option and the seller included a gem proof 2004-S Keelboat Jefferson in a 2x2 as a free bonus coin which was a nice touch.

The end of a long journey and the beginning of an even longer one
Greetings again, seven months ago I wrote a numismatic tribute to my daughter as she earned her master?s degree. Now in little less than a week on December 19, 2010 my son will graduate college with a bachelor?s degree. The road has been long and hard, but now in the words of my son Jeffrey, ?I want to see what life has for me?.
The coin I have chosen to commemorate my son?s graduation is a 2009 French 10 Euro coin commemorat

A CURE PLAIN & SIMPLE!!!
Greetings Collectors,
Each year around this time (usually a little later, after Christmas) I reflect back on several things. Since time is something none of us have enough of and the clock is ticking away toward our ultimate demise, I always ask myself if I have spent my time wisely? I always put the kids and family above all the rest of my time consuming activities and try to invest as much time as humanly possible with the kids. My daughter is away attending NY
My first decent grade "unique" (to me) addition!
I'm relatively new to NGC and am impressed with the site. There is a LOT of content and the people here seem really helpful.
Unfortunately that's caused me to go hog-wild buying coins. My current focus is on German Coins throughout the history. I know there are a ton of coins from the various states, the Empire, and modern era. While some of the coins appear a little drab, most have intricate designs filled with coats of arms, historical peopl
more coffee change
Hello Collectors
The last few weeks been kind of slow with collecting I have a few coins comming in the mail that are NGC-69, but during my week I stop for coffee and low and behold I got some unually change back. One was a Canadain 1c dates 1867-1967. and it is probably XF the date is clear and Queen Elizabeth 2 with a flying bird above the date. portrait is also very clear it suprised me it the same picture on the $5 Mapleleaf. Just a quick update about a personal Registry Goal ....
I am figuring with the holiday fast approaching my Registry efforts for 2010 have about come to a close for the most part but today with the replacement of a PF-69 UC Montana Silver State Quarter with a similar but higher graded PF-70 UC example I managed to eek out enough points to hit the 20,000 mark....which is about where I had hoped to be ...a relative goal of sorts .
I'm finding in many cases it's cheaper to BUY examples already g
just a year set, but still a complete set
It happens so rarely that I couldn't let the accomplishment pass without at least a quick journal to record the event. I finally finished my 1944 year set !!
Yesterday I was perusing ebay and came across the final coin I needed -a 1944-D Washington quarter. I had seen a few before in the MS67 grade I was looking for but they were either not as attractive as I wanted or else they were way over-priced sitting in a "Buy It Now" inventory on ebay. Has an
Found this coin on ebay last week & couldn't pass it up.
I've been reading journal posts from members regarding coins sold on ebay still registered to the original seller and this is my 2nd experience with this situation. Interesting that both were commemorative coins the first being a 2005 P Marines PF69UC purchased earlier this year.
This was a "BUY NOW" purchase of a beautiful rare 1994 D World Cup MS69PL, only 1 of 53 graded by NGC. When I saw it I almost fell of my chair. Researchin
A few choice Lincolns...
Greetings,
I remember I put back several dozen various dates that I had the opportunity of "cherry picking" from some original bank rolls. I had actually forgotten all about them 'til just this last week. They look a whole lot nicer than the few 66's I own that are slabbed. Just thought I'd share these with you all. Why these were not with all the rest of them is beyond me.
Later...

Not being an authority on very many coin series, it's tough to judge what's worth slabbing??? And what is silver and what is not...
Greetings Collectors,
Just spending a lazy Sunday afternoon with some coins that I haven't seen for many years, I found a couple I have questions on. I am a "pack-rat" in lots of different areas and with coins, I am no different. Down through the years I have stashed away everything from mediocre wheat cents to foreign coins in silver & misc other metals. In
Duh... What else is new??? But I do believe it's for the best. It's just there is so many coins, and only so much $$$.
Greetings Collectors,
To start, it sure was nice of the Collectors Society to re-value "points wise" all of the Silver Eagles. I had been stuck at 199k for the longest time. Now I have been pushed passed the 200k mark by a couple thou. I still don't understand why they would "figure down" on the Walkers and go the opposite on the S E's. But, oh well, I will definitely take i

Sometimes old collections can reveal new treasures.
The day was slowly going by and I was trying to find a fifth coin to send in for grading. I decided to dig through several old proof sets from the late 60's and 70's to find something worth having graded, either to keep or to sell. As I scanned through all the die varieties for each year, I kept coming up with nothing. Nothing special, no missing mint marks, nothing but a dead end.
I have owned this stack of proof sets for over te
Just received my father's coin & cash collection that was lost after his death in 2006. WOW while growing up I only saw a few pill bottles of coins. I have only started to try and figure out what is there. So far this is what I have found, including a 1900 Lafayette that is nice but I have lots to learn. I have a bunch more coins from around the world some pretty old I still need to get through. Thanks Dad

December starts with flurry of sweet acquisitions.
It?s probably not the best time to be forking out extra money to add to my collection especially in the heart of the holiday shopping season but I learned a long time ago you have move quickly when an opportunity presents itself. December is proving to be a month of opportunity so far. Just since Thanksgiving my sets have grown with some very nice acquisitions. I?ve added a couple of nice Lincoln Cents including a top pop 1976S PR69RDU and a

First I want to thank everyone who sent me messages and also commented in the coin forum concerning my last journal entry. It really is my friends and fellow collectors at this site that have added so much more to my collecting via the registry in recent years.
So last I wrote I had purchased 100 circulated Walker halves. Well there were no major varieties as I studied them--in fact the Walker series actually has very few primary cherrypicks--the 1946 doub

Friends and Society, Another back breaking day at work but yep "it's payday". Cashed my check and went home to a little box at the foot of the stairs that goes to my office. Yep address sent from Bammer, the box I have been wanting for a while. Oh the mail was quick, but I was a little slow on the purchase.
I sure enjoyed entering the new Morgans into the sets which pushed my points over 11,000 (new rank). I might get a few more coins this year b
