appreciate the feedback
I hadn't really planned on writing another entry tonight. I have a journal started in my head for tomorrow or Friday, as I had other good (at least to me) purchases before I even started bidding in the Stack's auction.
What I really want to do tonight is to thank everyone for the VERY positive feedback, both on my journal entry and my purchases. I do appreciate the replies on the forum, I just finished reading them, and even though I've been a member here now for seve
That's quite a change in Lincoln points.
This morning I logged in to my usual 15,000+ point total and didn't think anything about it. This afternoon, my point total jumped to almost double.
Someone must have asked for a re-evaluation of the Red Lincoln Cents because the points really jumped. My 1948-S MS66RD went from 16 to 1069 and the 1947-S went from 9 to 1013 in a matter of a few hours.
Whoever asked for the review a big thanks.

The ONLY 1 graded by NGC so far!
Good Evening All,
I picked up a nice coin today. I am trying to build a nice Roosevelt 46 - date set. I am always looking for the best I can afford.
I have been doing allot of research on what is available by NGC. I have had many opportunities to pick up PCGS coins to fill slots, but what can I say, this is a NGC Collectors Society so I try to stick with NGC certified coins. There are more, higher graded coins by PCGS which would make my set more competiti

Searching for coins rarely offered for sale can be like a feast or a famine.
In my previous journal, I wrote about obsessions. One of my obsessions having more to do with my personality than it does with the topic of coin collecting is football. As a proud owner of an NFL football team by virtue of owning one share of Green Bay Packers stock, I found myself on the edge of my seat as the Chicago Bears made the NFC championship game interesting. However, in the end, the Packers prevailed, and no
You may get more than you expected.
A little over a year ago, I acquired a 1908S US/Philippines 50 Centavo piece that appeared to be uncirculated. Last November, I finally found the courage to send it off to NGC to see if I was right. Sadly, NGC saw my "uncirculated" coin as an AU58. It was not what I had hoped for, but there was no ?body bag,? or details grade involved, so I consider myself lucky. That however is another story, and not the point of this journal entry. It simply sets the
Or how I hoped to turn lemons into lemonade and came away with just a sour taste in my mouth.
Well, to make a long story short, I purchased a 1943-D MS63 Walking Liberty Half back in October or November which I thought was NGC graded. It turns out, I did not pay enough attention to the EbaY AD (I think I have Numismatic ADD) and got an ANACS MS63 1943-D instead. Okay, thats the lemon. So, I decided to unslab the sucker, send it to NGC and get it reslabbed as an NGC 1943-D Walking Liberty.
1 of 10 POP!
Hello Friends,
I purchased this 1964 Pointed 9 Dime graded PF67UC recently and I am very pleased with the purchase. NGC has graded 10 examples in 67 with 17 finer, 10 in 68 & 7 in 69 with a total NGC Ultra Cameo pop of 35. FMV is $27.50 for this coin with lesser examples in 67 Cameo on Teletrade as we speak trending $33. I paid a BIN price double FMV for this coin.
I know...I know....I don't do this very often but I felt this was one of those instances when FMV pricing w
Trying to get rid of the yellow tint. Definitely a work in progress as I am still not happy with these results...
Greetings Collectors,
During the last six months I have changed out all of my light bulbs throughout my home with the newer style "curly" florescent bulbs and while doing so, changed out the bulbs on my two table lamps I use for my coin and jewelry photography. I have noticed that the quality of my journal pics have gone down "considerably". Rightly or wrongly, I blame the bulbs.

Salutations Fellow Numismatists: It has been several months since my last entry in the journal. I have been very busy recreating my humble collections in a new direction. I have forsaken modern coins for the most part and will remove the remaining ones some time in the future. I would sell the Presidents dollars in a minute if I could get out of them what I put in, but that isn?t ever going to happen as they are pretty much worthless except in point value. An 1895o

"Changes are good if something good come out from the changes". For the Society members that follows my bio's and journals, they will say that I provide information of the changes with "revised" dates on my bio's and journals.
Now the "Big Bang" or evolution in "my" numismatic hobby have occurred. I am cleaning house. Out goes the kitchen sink with the faucet and drain pipe still attached to the sink. Modern items with the classical items are being liquidated for one

Almost finished.
I ordered the Buchanan and Polk dollars earlier and realized that I am almost caught up with this series. I lack the Abraham Lincoln dollar and the James Monroe dollar in PF 70.
I have been waiting to upgrade my Monroe dollar, because it was a birthday present from a buddy of mine. I won't sell it; just replace it.
As far as the Lincoln dollar, I have felt that it is a little over valued. I think that with the hype from last year's Lincoln pennies, the price is a bit
Why do my obsessions have to cost so much?
It seems that forever and a day I have been obsessing over coin photography. I absolutely must have high quality photographs of my coins to display in my registry sets. For years I have been trying to take just the right picture, but only with mixed results. To say that this has been an obsession with me is an understatement.
To add to my obsession is the realization that with each coin being different, there is no such thing as a cookie cutter appr
Added another Morgan
Greetings once again,
Today, I finally was able to add to my Morgan collection once more. A 1921 S MS64. The coin has more frost on the face than most and it is evident in the photo. Another nice addition.
I have also listed a few coins on the chat board under the Money Marketplace tab so if you are interested give me a shout for photo's.
Best wishes in filling those slots

unintended purchases....
I have come to a self realization. The only way for me to go on a coin buying hiatus is for me to stop looking at them. I decided about 2 weeks ago that I was going to take a break from buying for a few reasons.
First of all: I have season tickets to my favorite hockey team. I spent a bundle traveling to Pittsburgh for the New Years Day " Winter Classic" and on memorabelia..also the playoffs will be around the corner shortly, and even at face value, 2-3 seven game se

Not often can most of us complete a set let alone a set where every coin in the set is a top pop but as of this morning the very high likelihood that I will complete my first registry set very soon is staring me right in the face. Okay, I will admit it is not a difficult set to complete and there are at least 35 other registered top pop complete sets but this one is mine. After close to three weeks of limited success of adding coins to my registry sets bec
I am going to have to revisit my criteria for the Silver Era portion of my collection.
I was prowling around looking to add a coin to the Silver Era (1946-1964) portion of my mint state collection. I found a pretty PCGS MS66FB 1946-D dime and was about to buy when I noticed that right next to it was an NGC MS67FT.
Comparing price and checking the points showed that for a little less than twice the price I'd get over four times the points. That brought the price/point ratio down from 0.24 t

Greetings Collectors,
I had a nice surprise today when I got my mail. Actually I was expecting them as the mint delivered all of the SE's to their distributors on Friday the 14th but they did not ship them out 'til Tuesday because of the holiday Monday. I hadn't seen any posts concerning the new silver eagles and was just curious as to, did anyone already receive theirs yet? My order came from Apmex (Americ
