Anxious and impatient

Pesky Mortgage Too bad the mortgage keeps getting in the way of my collecting "wants". Of course, my wife "wants" to not be kicked out of the house. I have to obey the boss, right? I've been reading The Official RED BOOK A Guide Book of MORGAM SILVER DOLLARS A Complete History and Price Guide 3rd EDITION written by Q. David Bowers I wasn't even aware of Morgan or Peace Dollars until 1961. When the Air Force sent me to Montana. Most of us young airmen didn't care for them. HERE WE GO AGAIN MOVEIN UP AND MOVIN IN Folks: I have just added a PCGS MS66 OGH 1923P to Peace at a Price set and with only 37% finished it has 1000 pts more than its predecessor, and is solidly in the top one hundred. One Wild Ride!

26000+ Registry points and counting Hello all, After collecting slabbed coins for about a year and a half, I finally crossed the 2000 ranking last week and stand at 1951. 3 MORE TO GO Well, I've been busy on ebay the last 10 days. I'm down to needing the 79P NR; the 79S; and the 81S. Bought the 80S in MS66, was the only one I saw on there. I'm up to 17th place in the registry, might be able to crack the top 10. As for getting any higher than that, not gonna happen. Some of the coins in MS68 only show a total population of 1...... Mail - it's a beautiful thing!!!

Yesterday was banner mail day. The mail lady brought my most recent addition to my Clad Roosevelt Registry set a 2010 D Business Strike MS 67 FT, 10 rolls of OBW dimes for searching, a few clad proofs for an album set of Roosevelts and Ike $'s I've been working on and a few really nice coins on approval. A Little About A Lot

An obsolete NGC Registry set - Lincoln Cents, 1959-Date, Proofs Now that NGC has split the Lincoln Cents Registry sets into their proper sub-varieties, I have changed my collection over to fit into the proper sets too. This move has eliminated my set of 1959-Date coins. Because I was the first to create my 1959-2008 set, I am currently showing as #1 (which will change as soon as some of the other great sets get changed over). A beautiful lady

Great mail day! So the "bargain" that I hinted at last week came in the mail today. I upgraded my 2009-D Satin Finish Native American Dollar! Yes, I know this is a modern coin, but this baby is hard to find. Between NGC and PCGS, there have been 1,162 of these coins graded. A mere 35 have been graded SP69, with none finer. There have been none available on Teletrade, and there are currently no others available on eBay. From about the same number of 2009-P Satin examples graded (1,261

Coinage metals with zinc in focus

Many of us have copper coinage, and it is easy to see, that despite copper's rating as low to moderate chemical activity, most old copper coins are BN or RB, and RD ones are much sought for. With gold or silver coinage, professional conservation can do miracles, that's why we can see specimens looking like they left mint just hours ago and not 100-150 years ago. With copper NCS can surely remove all contaminants but can't reverse the flow of time, and if the coin is brown, it will remain so,

Interesting Idea

For a Pedigree Type Set I was at home last night reading "The Coin Collector's Survival Manual" by Scott A Travers and I got a fun idea for a custom set. Come on NGC, is this the best ... Part 2

Still not happy about that rattle but... A reminder of part 1, coin came back slanted in holder with a little rattle to it. See past journal. After thinking about it for a day I knew NGC wouldn't put the token in crooked and desided it most have turned due to the looseness of the token in the slab, the rattle. Coin photography woes

The 6th time is a charm. About a month ago I bought a little point and shoot camera with macro photography capabilities (a macro setting). More importantly, I purchased a fairly nice copy stand that's about 18" x 24" and has a telescoping camera mount that can shoot from distances of about 10" through 24". The camera and the copy stand cost me about $200 combined. The camera is a 12 Megapixel super compact little thing...I can't believe how tiny these things keep getting. I found it on sal

Come on NGC, this is the best you can do?

You didn't get it right the first time and this time either. I had this "Conder" token graded by NGC several years ago and when it came back they had put the obverse to the back of the slab. Not really a big deal but I did write them a small email about it and never heard back from them. I recently purchased two more "Conders" from ebay and the slabs were so scuffed up you could barely see the token. I packaged up 5 token for reslabing including the backwards token and sent them off. Tickled Pink Hi Collector It been a really slow period for collecting.I have thus far got my Proof Set,UNC Set and New 2011 ASE. Anyway today in the mail I got some AES from Rick He has been my source for almost all 69 AES. So I opened the package and much to my surprise he sent me an extra coin 2005. Which tickled me pink.
