Is Your ASE 25TH Set On Hold Or Backordered?

What is meant by the US Mint backorder and on hold process? For those like myself that are worried that their order will be cancelled because of the process of being on hold or backorder please read the following post off of the minnewsblog. The Mint uses the word ?backorder? in a different way that most people are familiar with. Most companies are sellers, not manufacturers, so when an item is on ?backorder,? that means that they have run out of that item, and need to order more from the

Check your Email if You Order an ASE 25th Set

Those who have an order from the US Mint on the ASE 25th Set after 6 PM are on hold To all who got in after 6 PM you order will be on hold until the Mint digests the orders. Some orders will be kicked back for over the limit or credit card problems Others will be put on a waiting last. A few more dimes

A few more points Friends, While working in Fla. I purchased a few silver dimes for one of my sets (and for the mint sets). While there for 5 weeks I had no access to internet so checking the journals was out for a while. Loosing internet contact for that long sucks. I was happy this morning to log on and read journals for the past month and to answer all the e-mails piled up. My 1953 mint set is turning out to be pretty swell even though I had no special intentions for the year. I did take

Losing My Passion for the SAEs

Selling them off! Hi everyone, I just want to drop a little note letting people know my SAEs...both Proof and MS...are available for sale. I have found that I am losing my passion for the Silver Eagles. Lately, I have been collecting them just to fill a slot and I guess, out of some sort of obligation to complete a collection I have started. That I believe, is no way to collect coins. My passion is still high for the silver $1 modern commemoratives and I will still pursue those, especia

I feel honored yet puzzled

by my coins appearance in the NGC Coin Explorer Well folks, I was googling myself this afternoon, not my real name but my beawchan handle, and I found numerous hits to include an entry for a coin I own in the new NGC Coin Explorer. The coin is a MS68RD 2006 SMS Lincoln Cent. The funny thing is that the coin is part of my 21st century set and it is paired with a 1909 (in the reverse picture slot) Lincoln to illustrate the difference in design from Brenner's original. I like that I am s

25th Anniversary Silver eagle set to be released ! NGC and others I need your feedback !

Special label or not? Back in 2006 the U.S mint released the 3 coin set of the 20th anniversary set. NGC had a special Label for those coins. The catch to get those special labels were to have them unopened from the mint and put them in another box and send them to NGC. NGC members had to officially open the box from the U.S. Mint and they were all designated as the 20th anniversary. If the Mint box was opened and then sent to NGC, the only coin that could get the special designation was the R

War Nickel

Haven't found one of these in quite a while Good Evening, I recently went to visit some friends/family in Ohio and during the course of my visit I got a 1945P War Nickel in change. I would guess it to be a MS45? Maybe? It is always fun to get something like that in change. Tonight, I went to my local gas station to get a Pepsi and while in line, 2 people ahead of me was a young boy around 10-11 yrs old getting candy (go figure) and paid for his purchase with a $1 bill. I only saw it for

WTF is the Mint Doing?

The price for the 25th Anniversary set is jumping all over the place! The Mint is doing some crazy things lately... first the price for the 25th anniversary set was set at 229.95, then I see a post that it is 299.95, and now the site has TBD with no price at all. What are they doing??? Silver is still hovering around $30 and ounce, and has actually dropped a bit since the 229 price was set... ugh! To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. Another Day's Worth of Loot at Face Value !!

Maybe nothing spectacular but anything at purchased at FACE in pocket change that's worth collecting is a find indeed !!2002-S Proof Nickel , 1957-A Silver Certificate $1 and 1934-D Silver Certificate $5 . Not pictured 1938 Jefferson Nickel and 1950 $10 Federal Reserve Note . New addition

1886 S I finally found an 1886 S Morgan dollar at a great price. It seams like these semi key San Fran dollars all pull a premium. I may be wrong. I finally picked this one up at well under FMV. I just need a few more of the semi keys, most of the commons, but im not worried about these now since they are really easy to find and are not in such a demand. Im actually having fun selling my raw coins and buying certified morgans for my competitive set. Im actually thinking about re-starting

Holder Labels

How many I collect holders that have different labels in them. This yr, 2011 Silver Eagles MS69 has 18 holders with different labels counting the Burnished that just shortly came out. Yes there are browns, flags, Early Releases, etc, but I consider each label as it pertains to a certain coin. So that is why I count the Burnished also, even tho it has the same five labels that were previously awarded, well almost. You see there are different mints that produced Eagles, different mint marks

Love this label

God bless America Just added another Silver Eagle MS70 to my custom collection. I thinks it is the nicest label of all the holders. Ok Ok I give. It is a 2011 SAE MS70 Struck at San Francisco Mint with the Flag Label. Actually it is a label everyone is probably familiar with. I am still waiting to get the three I was supposed to get over a month ago. Fustrating as it is I am thrilled to add this one, till they come out with another before the end of the year. I also will not stop until
