Damage Capsule West Point Two Coin Set.

Where is the quality control? My wife called me at work to let me know that my coins have arrived. When I got home and open the boxes and to my surprise I have two damage capsule. My plan was to send in one set to NGC and keep the other for show with my other sets. Both enhance coin have damage capsule. One not so noticeable the other damn noticeable. I can not win. I did not want to send in two sets but I might have too. I am going to wait till the weekend to look at the coins closely before

1993 Jefferson Commemorative Silver Dollar

Father's Day Gift Greetings everybody, Here is my latest edition to my modern commemorative collection....a 1993 Jefferson MS70. The reverse of this coin is what really makes it stand out. The image of Monticello is very impressive and it came out wonderfully on the coin. The pic I took can not relay the quality of work on the reverse of this coin. This is one that needs to be in hand to truly appreciate! My wife...for Father's Day...told to go pick out a coin to add to my collection and e

West Point sets extra box?

Hi Hello every one. Just a quick question. I received 10 sets Friday from the mint. They have been sent to pcgs already. But the weird part is they came in 2 different packages. 1 being 14 lbs and the other being 2 lbs. I couldn't open the boxes for first strike reasons. Just wondering if anyone else who ordered 10 sets got the extra small box? If so, what was in it? I'm guessing the 10th set. But this is driving me crazy. Persistance Pays Off

One big WOW too! Here is my latest submission results. I been chasing the 2011 P Sacagawea and the P Garfield for some time. I got both MS68's this time. I wasn't going to pay $300 or more for either of these modern dollars. I have now looked at about 40 - 2013 US Mint sets and I have to say that the quality has really took a nose dive. It will really take some effort to get all the 2013 Presidents in MS68 year. I may need to even purchase a few but no way would any be worth $500 or mor

Unexpected Purchase

I expected the Baltimore show to pass uneventfully. Despite my earlier journals that say I really need to slow down with the coin buying to pay down some debts, I haven't really slowed at all. I was pleased to see nothing of interest in upcoming auctions, and was hoping not to find anything at the Baltimore show. I was planning on going to the LSCC and EAC meetings, catch up with some friends, and look at coins as usual - but make no purchases. I took off work on Friday to attend the show;

Top Pop Lincoln!

Added a beauty from Teletrade! Hi Everyone. Tonight I was fortunate enough to land a big hitter to my Lincoln Sets from Teletrade. I had to sell several coins to pay for it but I did it and just in time. This coin puts me back in #5 with only about 900 points to get to #4. I lost my #5 set for about a week to codrobin who has amassed quite a collection of all PCGS coins. Without further delay, here is a picture of my new 1970 S Large Date in NGC MS67RD. I will make the presentation for

Photo Troubleshooting

Another day working on getting better pics. Friends, I recently acquired a few nice nickels and had someone wanting to see pics of the 1941-D MS67 5FS. I took 5 rounds at different lighting and angles and all were rough looking. Finally after 2 hours of mistakes I got out of the direct sunlight and took a pic sitting on the porch. 1913 Buffalo Nickel - 100th Anniversary in 2013

1913 MS 67 STAR (*) Type 1 Buffalo Nickel Well 100 years have gone by and the 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel still remains very popular for coin collectors. NGC has certified a bit over 330 such coins in MS 67 condition and around 12 in MS 68 condition. I think the STAR coins add a nice touch of color, but I realize not everyone agrees. The Buffalo nickel was part of the larger effort to beautify U.S. coins in the early 1900s and many agree that James Earle Fraser designed a stunning coin fit for

Making Some Changes

yes I have some for sale, I will also place this in the Forum. Hi All, First off, I want to clarify my last journal, I was not by any means raising a fuss or anything. I just thought it was a point that needs to remind us all who collect some of the modern coins. I think everyone here knows I enjoy western theme coins, and coins from the western mints and also currency. So I am cutting down on some of the modern coins and putting them up for sale. What I decided on is to not do the silver

Sell List

Yes, I did put this in the marketplace forum. Updated 6/23/13 Hi All, Here is the list of what I would like to sell. FMV is listed, I would really like at least 50%, I am willing to do some trades if the coins fit into my sets. For example, I would trade for some PF70 UC ATB quarters for the silver state quarters I have. All coins listed are graded by NGC, except for 2005D Satin Kansas quarter which is graded by PGCS. 2009S Lincoln Cent Formative Years PF69RDUC -- $17.50 2005D SMS Ocea

Misplaced Texan

I made it to Maryland. I am now in Maryland. I decided with a little bit of time left before I start work, I would go to the Whitman Coin Expo in Baltimore. I was very impressed. I have never seen so many paper money dealers with a ton of great stock. Also, I ironically saw a bunch of dealers in Dallas that I couldn't seem to find when I lived there. Oh well. What I was kind of surprised to not see was coin clubs. I was hoping to meet up with one. I hope everyone is doing well. Hap

I had a good day at work today

The GOLD market had a rough day WOW!!! If you don't check precious metal values I got the latest. Gold dropped almost $75 an oz. today. That's a hard hit for one of my buds that is a gold buyer. The gold stores have been struggling the past few months with the steady low on values and now a hard hit like this may put a few of them out of business. NCS ---- PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE

Please get it going on--- I am starting to loose much needed hair!! Friends, This is my first twist with NCS to NGC. Kinda like a trial thing to see if there is a difference and most the coins I sent needed preservation anyway. Most important I would say is a 1941 PF Liberty Dime and a 1895 5c shield. The 1895 was marked for details slab (only one) as it did have some environmental damage but what a value even in a purple slab!! The 1941 10c should do PF66, and then there is a MS65 1930's q

Modern Proof Coin Collecting - The Risks of a Big Price Drop

The Sad Fate of the 2000 S Proof Sacagawea Dollar I see there is lots of fuss about the lowered values for Sacagawea dollar coins in PF 70 Ultra Cameo condition. This shouldn't be a shock to anyone who collects modern coins. There is simply a limited group of collectors for most modern coins and far too many coins in perfect PF 70 UC condition. The real losers are those with PF 69 UC modern proof coins that will be lucky to get back the price of certification in the future. Yes I know there ar

The Buffs Are Back

4 as expected, 1 a major disappointment Hi All, First I want to give NGC some well deserved kudos. I sent 5 buffalo nickels in 2 weeks ago today on my coupon. They came back to me today (Monday, 6/17), yes it's still Monday here in the heartland as I write this. This was way quicker than I expected, so a big THANK YOU to NGC. OK, now on to the grades. As I said in my teaser, there are 4 of the 5 I am really happy with. 1916 bought raw as a 63 -- final grade 64 1928 bought raw as a 61 -

2013 W West Point Silver Eagle sets

ARE THEY REAL OR A FANTASY? As I wrote the other day about the set for me to be shipped on 30 sept. 2013, and the big sellers promising my PF/SP 70 slabs to be shipped mid June. I wondered how they could do it. Now many of us has had emails about shipping delays etc. I wonder if the whole thing is, is that they are probably having oodles of difficulties minting the enhanced coin. Perhaps they won't even get them minted at all, and all we will receive is the RP. I wonder just for talking
