  1. I actually remember you posting this. It looked like a plated cent to me.
  2. To be honest, it looks like it has only gotten shinier over time. Lol
  3. I've been carrying the same 1879 morgan in my pocket since 2007 and it ain't even close to PO1. Lol
  4. The top picture does show what looks like part of a knockout plug on the bottom.
  5. Thanks Mark. I appreciate your input. As I stated, don't know anything about these. I don't plan on doing anything with it anyway. Keep it in the slab and put it up.
  6. The coin had some very nice luster to it. I'm not familiar with the series nor the type of toning they get. It has a little nice blue/purpulish color to it. I've seen whizzed and polished coins and usually you can't get away from hairlines with either of these methods. Maybe so!!! I would never have guessed whizzed if it hadn't been on the slab. I personally like the way it looks.
  7. It may well be. May have had some environmental damage in that area and cleaned. It has some minor pitting in that area that I don't see anywhere else.
  8. Yea, I put a small magnifier to it and didn't see any hairlines. Could be an old cleaning? Mark has a good eye! It's starting to tone a little here and there also. I was really fortunate to win it as I think it's still a pretty cool coin. It also looks like it has a nice die crack under "States Of" also.
  9. So the scratch showing at the bottom of the obv is not that bad really. The light is reflecting it. The one that the light didn't catch very well is by the Trust banner which is a little worse. Here is what PCI called it.
  10. I know that pics can be deceiving, but here is a 2cent piece I aquired thru a generous give-away ATS. Care to to guess?
  11. Just a thought to keep in mind, just because someone is asking high prices for a coin, doesn't mean it is selling for that price. Good idea to check by "sold/completed listings" to get an average value for the specific coin you are looking for. You beat me to the punchline JustBob! Lol
  12. Tough for me also. I was thinking on the lines of low AU. Edited to add: This pertains to the indian.
  13. I stopped collecting ase's last year when the mint went up in prices. Really didn't feel it was feasible anymore. I may eventually catch up my dansco bullion eagles one day but it stopped after the 2020's also. Will probably just sell off the proofs one day and use the money for something else I'm interested in. I don't deal with the US Mint anymore.
  14. It could be but not my area of expertise. There are those that collect counterstamped coins though.
  15. Sometimes when you look too hard you can see all sorts of things. Kind of like looking at designed floor tile and seeing images. Lol All I see is damage on your cent.
  16. Yep, as JP stated, who knows. Whoever plated it may have done it to a bunch them and you just happen to find one.
  17. Well it sure has some clean fields for a 79. Not wondering if it hasn't been plated.
  18. I guess I'll have to start throwing my error coins into my 5 gal. change jug so they can't find them. Lol
