  1. So these are in the proof registry slots but are not MS or Proof. Here's one of mine.
  2. Looks like some sort of chemical bath to me also. Definitely not a whiz job.
  3. I don't think it's bad enough for details grade. Jmo
  4. Not a collector of world coins, but that's a nice one Jason. Looks good for the grade also.
  5. Not my area either Larry, but I agree with Jason's assessment.
  6. Sorry to hear of your roomate Jason. And to those that lost someone to this terrible disease. Lost my wife in 2008. Hard to watch! I was avoiding this this thread as the first reply was already negative disrespect, but I've known you for years here and felt the need to reply. Prayers my friend!!!
  7. @Hoghead515Ya, my dad had a whites. Those are good for gold in the mountains. The Garretts were designed mostly for coin hunting. The GTI 1500 I still have is just as good as the 2500 they sell now. You'll enjoy the accuracy of it much better than the cheaper models.
  8. I am 63. I've enjoyed metal detecting for years. I have an older Garrett 1500 gti that cost me about $800 new. I've had a couple other cheapies before that. I seriously doubt that I'll ever pay for it finding something valuable, but I enjoy the search. I've found a lot of coins, a watch, some old toys and a bunch of junk. Lol They are pretty amazing pieces of equipment. Mine can pinpoint a penny in the ground 12" deep. I enjoy searching. Never know what you will find. My dad,(RIP), use to take his to the mountains in Calif and searched for gold. He use to always get little nuggets. Nothing to retire with but pretty cool finding them. It's actually pretty relaxing also. I think the hobby is more of a curiosity of whats underneath you than what you get out of it as value. It is for me anyway.
  9. I'm not sure why some people don't take their differences out in PM's or better yet, exchange phone numbers. This is a coin forum, not boxing arena. Not all us are entertained by the constant degrading of each other. There use to be a lot of camaraderie here on these forums. Please quit using this forum to criticize each other!
  10. Looks like this thread took a wrong turn. We are all different and knowledgeable in our own rights. Can't we all just get along? Opppps, I meant to say Can't we all just enjoy the hobby here? Lol
  11. I hate to see people leave because of others nonsense. This forum was a great place to be back in the day. It has slowed considerably over the years which I think makes the meaningless threads pop out more. You still have the nonsense over at CT and ATS but it doesn't seem as overwhelming as they have a lot more posters. My collecting has slowed considerably but I still visit the forums to see what interests me. I've gotten to where I just ignore or don't even open threads that don't interest me or have titles that indicate nothing meaningful. I also take into consideration that we have new generations coming up that rely on google for their education. It's becoming the sign of the times. Us old timers just need to keep hope that we can help some and just ignore the one's that don't want to listen!
  12. Thank you! My prayers go out and hopes for a conquer of this terrible disease! I have a few of Davids books courtesy of the old NGC trivia days.
  13. There is a thread ATS that David W Lange's cancer has slowed him down considerably and another that says he passed. Is this our notable DW Lange here? Soo sorry to hear this if so.
  14. You are right with silver stuff. Lol At the current mint prices for these sets, I just don't think they are worth it anymore. Social security makes you look at prices differently. Lol
  15. Congrats. I have the clad proofs from 55-2020. Silver sets from 99-2020. I quit collecting them when the mint went too high on the prices in 2021. Will probably just sell them off one day now.
  16. I don't follow or ever submitted to CAC. I have one coin that has a green bean cause I bought it that way. Like them or not, they seem to have been accepted in the hobby by most collectors. To your question, hopefully the tpg got your grade right as a bean doesn't always represent grade as it could also be for eye appeal.
  17. It does have 20 New Zealand Dollars on it. Wouldn't it be compared to our American Eagles and Buffalo Bullion coins having a denomination value on it? A pretty neat coin but not my cup o' tea.
  18. The Greenland title is what they refer to ATS as "clickbait". Another term not regularly used here. Lol
