  1. Small crack in slab wouldn't bother me. 2nd coin looks like it's been cleaned to me.
  2. I think it would be hard to know what an average collection would be considered as. Too many options to consider such as income, series interests, level of interest in the hobby, availability of a series, and so on. I think there are more budget collectors than there are million dollar coin collectors by far. To me, I would consider my collection as average, but to someone with more financial availability may find it below average. I think your collection is based on what you collect and how you perceive your collection.
  3. I collected these a while back. Still have them. I think my oldest is 50's something. Was gonna try to get all the years but the first couple editions are pretty rare. I think I have about 30 of them from the 90's back.
  4. I have to say that the story sounds a little far fetched. I've seen silver pass thru cashier hands without knowing the difference, but don't think classic gold is going to slip thru a customers hands at checkout. I mean who carries around gold pieces in there pockets?
  5. For $13, not bad Ike. As mentioned, maxed at 67 and I'm pretty sure rotation are not recognized until it's at least 15% which yours is not. Keep it in the holder.
  6. I've been here for quite a long time and have never had to use the ignore feature until this year. It helps!
  7. These coins have turned out to be very disappointing for a lot of buyers. There seems to be threads everytime you turn around about small strike-throughs on these things. Low quality mint product. I almost think it wouldn't be worth getting an error designation on these as there are going to be thousands of them anyway. I think the only ones that may hold value down the road will be the ones without a strike-through.
  8. All I have is my phone right now. I get here thru the website and don't have to login all the time. When you login, there should be a "keep me logged in" option on your phone.
  9. It's funny how you can stare at something soo long til you can see something. It's like looking at clouds or pieces of wood and see shapes. It happens to us all. Yours is just circulation damage and your eyes playing tricks on you.
  10. These silver eagles can tone pretty wild and under plenty of different circumstances. I'm sure plenty have been intentional also and it makes me wonder sometimes if the TPG's can tell the difference from NT to AT on these. Here's one I had in storage for about 3 yrs that was stuck in a manilla envelope. Was blast white when I put it up. Looked like this when I found it after unpacking.
  11. I think I could enjoy seeing a theme featuring cathedrals. There have been soo many medals depicting these that have awesome artwork. I think coins with same type of artwork would go over well.
  12. Sounds like you had a good time. I enjoyed your post! It's too bad that those who don't, can't just move on to another thread.
  13. I found this on the usps site. Have you taken it to usps already and they said no? Country Conditions for Mailing - Great Britain and Northern Ireland (Includes England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Sark, and the Isle of Man) Coins; banknotes; currency notes (paper money); securities payable to bearer; traveler's checks; manufactured and unmanufactured platinum, gold, silver; precious stones; jewelry; and other valuable articles, may only be sent in registered letter-post shipments or insured parcel post.
  14. I seen this ats. Sad! He contributed a lot on the pcgs forum.
  15. It's a shame this post had to get political. All I will add is I had a cousin die in Vietnam when he was 19 yrs old. I'm an American Veteran and I stand for our flag. I despise those who choose to kneel before it and/or burn it. For those people, they need to find another country with a flag they believe in. This one stands for those who died for it!!!!
  16. Back at you my friend and all other veterans here on the boards. 1/11 Armored Calvary Regiment Fulda, Germany 77-78
  17. I like toning as long as it's attractive. Not into the real dark stuff. Blast white is good also. I have to admit I like the way that silver eagles can tone with some pretty wild colors. End of roll toners on morgans always look good too.
  18. There are quite a few reasons why people would polish up face value coins. For example, jewelry, bar and tabletops, coin clocks, rings etc...We look at coins much differently than those using them for arts and crafts. Lol
  19. I can say that the focus is nice and clear. The blue color, to me, takes away being able to see any luster and detail in the fields. I would experiment with different backgrounds to get a more natural look.
  20. Looks like a strike thru from the pic to me.
