“Average” coin collection?
James Zyskowski replied to The Neophyte Numismatist's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
GBrad and Hogsheads. Well my friends would you mind a third musketeer ? I too, am wanting some gold. Tenth oz is fine. Their around $200+ but I never seem to have it when I need it. That said there must be a way for 3 coin collectors to buy some gold. Perhaps a think tank( in my case tank is a little bit large, maybe a cup) Anyway maybe trading may be a way to go. Just thinking 🤔 Good night my friends. Tomorrow is a new day 😉 -

Elevator music and Muzak “on hold “ tunes. Throw in phone booths and we’re on memory lane 🐈 -

Cat sez that after that a giant pulse of energy from the sun will melt any remaining coins underwater or in the ground. Cat sez it “could “ happen 🙀 -
I have never found a W in the wild. I have bought some but I’m looking 🤨

Your theoretical is only valid for US coins. There’s a big big world out there that depends on hard currency. Not many atms in the Sahara or elsewhere. The vast majority of the world population is nothing like the population of the US. We’ll just collect some other countries product. Thanks JZ’s cat🙀 -

“Average” coin collection?

Kurt. Perhaps add the flippers who are getting a rude awakening. Bought the heck out of the Morgan’s and Peace Dollar early backorder opportunity only to have quality issues and junk packaging. 😉 -
Good stuff. I get a little jealous because you have places to visit regularly. But I do enjoy your finds. Congratulations.

Dealer price is nice but in today’s world we require updates regularly. So nice read but not too relevant. JZ -
“Average” coin collection?

Hogsgead515 and Coinbuf thanks. Speaking of perspective I believe it’s relative to the subject as to what is stellar. We are more organized in our collecting but the value is different for gold, silver and clad( copper is different) collections. That said the greatest value of my collection is that I like it. 😉 -
“Average” coin collection?

Coinbuf. Dang, That’s probably the best explanation I’ve heard. Thanks 👍🏼 Been here awhile and don’t plan on leaving, there’s too much to learn. My collection has a little of this and some of that. Couple small runs of similar types. I returned to collecting in 2017 and have never checked any registry. How ever I would like to share my first album. In hand they are beefy and high quality. Best $12 I’ve spent in awhile 😉 I believe the majority of collectors are small “family run” operations. Great question 👍🏼 -

Mike. I had no idea how different the Mega-Reds are compared to the little guys. Huge amount of information. -

Advice on the older "Red Books"

Here’s 7 of my last 10 purchases. The other 3 were coins. At my age I have become accustomed to using pictures from books for comparison. Living in extreme snow conditions, power outages are real and books are a comfort 😉 -

Hey. Nice score. I have bought a few trying to keep 10 years between them. There’s lots of information and looking at prices is fun. Just missed one from the 50’s but they come around. Good price on yours. I have paid $5 ish for mine. -
1970-D Quarter DDR or Damage?
James Zyskowski replied to Cresencio's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
There’s an interesting scratch that does look like a spitting eagle. See other thread. It’s not but the position of the scratch is similar 😉 Give me a hammer and a leather belt and I’ll give you any imprint you like 🙀 -
Hey buddy. How awesome is this neighborhood! Post- listen- make informed choice. Cost? Free. I would look around and as mentioned contact seller. Anyway my thoughts were to how giving this place is. JZ

1983-P Quarter Spitting Eagle?
James Zyskowski replied to Cresencio's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
My 2 cents. The picture above is a very good one. The “spit” is more of a stream,as shown. About other years, it’s possible 🤠🙀 -
Nice Bob. Nailed it. Well done sir😉
