  1. Today was a nice sunny day so I was able to get a better photo. I wanted to post the 73 D it has a nice blue tone to it.
  2. It is a large set of coins like quarters Hoghead . I try to pick up at least one or two a week. Sometimes I get lucky and get more but I think there are more Nickel Collectors than there used to be. The prices are going up all the time my $3 and $5 coins are a thing of the past they are all $10 and more it seems. I had to raise my spending threshold from 30% of retail to 40 and 50% . I am also trying to only go with MSFS coins and that will bump things up a bit. Some year nickels there are just no FS coins available without selling the farm with those I just try to find the nicest coins I can.
  3. That is nice to have cool memories I am sure he enjoyed the time with you..
  4. I have been searching rolls for nice P and D samples of the new quarters but everything has bag marks nothing above a MS 63 to be found yet. Now are these S quarters silver nothing on the label that I see to indicate otherwise?
  5. Sorry to hear about your Mom. Was she a collector also ?
  6. Welcome to the forum. It looks like it is environmental coloration from being in red dirt . Coins are easer to see if photographed on a white background.
  7. Nice one Bill......... I just got this in the mail?............. I like your deal better. https://www.smyrnacoin.com/2022-W-Proof-American-Silver-Eagle-1-Ounce-Coin-in-p/se_proof_2022w_nobox.htm I will wait they will be coming down in price soon I think.
  8. Different roads of life . If I had half of the money I spent on fun ....I would have lots more stuff .......But not the memory's ........and what I have now would all be different . So I will just continue on this road until it takes me home.
  9. I love going to coin dealers and antique shops to find coins. I have not been to a show yet but there are some coming up in my area. now that the virus has slowed down. I do have to say without the resources of the internet I would not have been able to find most of the coins I have now. It would have taken me years to acquire the coins I accumulated in one year, shopping coin shows.
  10. I have been looking for a 1942 D in 65 FS or higher in my price range for a while and I finally got one cheap. The 1973 is very nice also a little toned but getting shadows no sunlight today to get good shots to show ya.
  11. Sometimes I have to take 4 or 5 shots in different light to get as close to the real deal. I have found indirect sunlight is the most accurate for a true looking coin. A lot of my registry coins I use my shots over the NGC or PCGS photos .
  12. Nice find Patman I agree with Coinbuf and Greenstang .How did you find so many did you open some old rolls? The coins look to be in good shape.
  13. It is a shame, it is a good looking coin.
  14. I am not a big fan of lines on Morgan's because they can be seen in hand but they don't show as much on Nickels unless you scope them up. Nice 48 by the way.
  15. Welcome Ryn36s ..Wow it has so many bubbles it may float on water. Just joking
  16. I would love it Tables full of Archie Bunkers and Don Rickles .Now that would be F.U.N.
  17. Sorry about your coin Lisa. Not to be a derogatory but making a counterfeit coin from silver seems counter productive ? Kinda like poor old Henning's and his nickels
  18. Wow Nice Shot, sorry it is a bad coin. Someone went to a lot of trouble to make it into a S
  19. I soon realized after my first few purchase's from dealers comments, and some well placed comments and replies here on the boards. My ASE set I put together for the kids was nice but not really a investment. They are what ever the market is unless they are in a slab. You may be able get a little more but most dealers only want to pay market or just pass on them. The mint and advertising market has made them more than what they are in reality.
  20. So that's who has been buying up all the nice MS 66 FS nickels I have been looking at on the internet. (Just Kidding ) Cpy79, Welcome to the forum. Like Lem I am also happy to see a new nickel collector here.
  21. Thanks for the information Mr. Lange it is always a learning experience when you post something. So if a 1926 S Die broke it could have even been replaced with a new 1927 S die that was used and just never recorded as such. Like they do with the 38-39 Nickels. The reverse does look a lot better than the obverse on the coin photo LoL So there could be a die that does match this S Mint Mark. We may never know. I am sure the US mint did not record every little thing.
  22. Welcome Stephaniec. The steps wore off smooth from people spending that nickel it has seen a lot of circulation.
  23. Getting back to your original question blinewalker. If it was already in a slab as a 66 it would be around $20 But you probably already know that. As to weather it is a DDO-007 I don't think would change the premium. It is a great looking coin to have in a book or a flip for sure.
