Been signing me out of the chat boards but not the registry since the maintenance was done. I was also getting a lot of error messages before, but that hasn’t been a problem lately.

At the risk of having the entire membership rise up and eviscerate me, very publicly and embarrassingly -- and anyone who would entertain the thought, "Well, it's not against the Guidelines to comment in good faith, negatively or not," I hereby throw all caution to the wind and aver the following...
There is a special place in my ❤ for @Lem E his modest style, collection of coins, and introduction to @Buffalo Head's photography skills. I don't know who photographed the 1961 Jefferson, but I am not sure it would make a difference. I have withheld comment until I have had a sufficient opportunity to examine it [under possibly unlawful, according to @VKurtB's unarguable Law of the Magnification of Coins] and come to the conclusion that while the coin is deserving of an MS-67 grade in every respect, that does not extend to the very weakly struck stone pile with barely distinguishable architectural features. I do not want to put any Jeff collectors on the spot, but although I no longer collect Jeffs, I have seen better, stronger Monticello strikes in lesser grades. In every other respect, the coin is outstanding [and if they ever catch the guy who vandalized the steps, I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.] Should any seasoned veteran feel my observation is unwarranted and/or heretical, I am prepared to be appear before the Star Chamber, if summoned.🐓
Yes the 50s and 60s Jeffs were pretty terrible as a whole. They say the only thing worse than a 61 Nickel from Philly is a 61 Nickel from Denver. This is true in my collection as well. My 61 D is nowhere near this new 61 P. Sometimes things just are what they are.

Beautiful coin Lem E! Plastic or not, that is a very nice Jefferson! I have actually always, at heart, been an avid Linc collector myself but I have gotten extremely interested in Jeffersons lately. Good job and a nice pick!
Thanks. Appreciate it. Jeffs are a good time. We are a bit reversed as I have been picking up some raw unc Lincolns, and I just happened to get a 1920P Lincoln in my change tonight. A little rough but still cool to get stuff like that in change.

They will make a fake one for Etsy. Toss it on the ground, stomp on it a little, call it an error and price it at 2 Trillion.

If you are referring to the “W” on the obverse, that is actually “AAW” and that is the initials of the original designer of the Walking Liberty half dollar (Adolph A. Weinman), which is also the same design on the ASE. It’s not a mintmark.

@Mohawk There are two variables at play here... One is my overwhelming desire to have authenticated and certified, the absolute lowest graded coin in TPGS history. I overplayed my hand last time and submitted a coin automatically disqualified because I had obliterated the date. My before and after pictures 📸 📷 were ignored. @Lem E's example re-ignited the spark in me as did the coin posted on the Forum bearing the much coveted PO-3 grade (which I feel is beatable, ideally as a PO-1.) Picture the optics of that: pop 1/2317. So, I ❤ the coin, for the wrong reason.
Two is reminiscent of Albert B. Fall's from grace during President Harding's tenure as president. He accepted a substantial bribe and was the first Cabinet official) Sec'y of the Interior) to go to federal prison for his acceptance of a bribe (official misconduct) in connection with the Teapot Dome 🫖 scandal, serving one year. (That's a brief summary of the back story you can use... "Well, all I can tell you is my grandpa used to tell me this coin..."
Great coin! 👍
I have coins that are worse than this one.

I see at least 4 spots on the reverse alone that are questionable.

It looks very crisp and aside from a few spots, looks very clean. Almost too clean, but I hope this a good problem free coin. If so, it is a very nice looking coin. Good luck. Welcome to the forum by the way.

It looks like a $20 penny I would let it be.
No, I wouldn’t dig around in it. It did resemble the bottom left pic from the link. To me, it doesn’t look like extra metal sitting on top of the rim. I could be very wrong. It could be anything or it could be nothing at all. I just thought it was interesting and wanted to know the others thoughts. Thanks all for your input. It is always appreciated.

Vice grips should do the trick give it a good yank Lem
I’d love to stick an exacto knife in there just to see if it is a cavity or a ridge. It wasn’t listed as an UNC and I didn’t buy it as an UNC, but it is pretty clean. Even has touches of red still.

It doesn't seem like there is extra material there, which was kind of taking me away from a cud. It almost looks like something got underneath the rim and just peeled it back a slight bit. I feel like I could get something underneath the crack and peel it back some more. Not that I would do that of course. I’m still looking at it. Here is a shot of the edge. These pics are not coming out well. I apologize for that.

Oh, I could definitely be wrong. But from the pics, I definitely think cud. But, as always, it could be different with the coin in hand.
I’m definitely not saying you are wrong. Im going to try and get a better look and maybe a better shot. I guess this is one of those times I need a scope.
