  1. Ive found many that color metal detecting. I agree that one looks like its been in the dirt.
  2. Got 1 response at the Coneca forum that thinks its MD. If you need the picture of mine to help confirm yours with Wexler then go ahead and use it. Your more than welcome. May help knowing theres more than one example. If it is what it is. Bob Piazza the Lincoln cent attributer says he thinks its MD. He may be wrong though. We will finx out what Wexler says when he examines yours.
  3. I found one just like this just now. Are you talking about the spike.
  4. In the past year, on different occasions, I bidded on some quarters I really wanted for my set. I bidded way more than they were worth cause I really liked them and it would have been worth it to me. Didnt go much over the NGC price guide but, I got outbidded by $30 to $40 on a couple of them. I thought I was crazy for what I bidded. The other ones just beat me by a few dollars. I agree that some really like the bidding competition. Wether its worth it or not.
  5. Very nice find!!! I get really excited also when I find one. Been a while since I have. Gives me hope seeing people still finding them.
  6. That looks like a really cool die clash to me. Sweet looking rosie.
  7. That is a very nice one for sure. Absolute beauty. When you get it back let us know what the grade is. After hearing the opinions of others I see how it could be MS. Thats why I mentioned Im no expert on grading. Ive still got a whole lot to learn. Im not knocking your coin in no way at all but Im gonna keep my guess of AU58. No offence at all. Its a very nice piece. I hope Im wrong and it makes MS but Im seeing what I think is wear. But as mentioned above that may be from sliding around jn a drawer or case or something and not count aginst it. Thats why Im no grader in no kind of way.
  8. Same here. Lol. Im flat broke. Down on my luck. Been sitting here thinking on how I can score a big GW for the collection.
  9. I hate that. I ordered some car parts one time that passed right by the house to go to Georgia. Then out west and back around to us. Very frustrating.
  10. Thats why Im holding out on the new Morgans. Gonna hold off a year or two and then try and work on getting a set. Hopfully the prices will drop
  11. Thats very cool you got to meet one. Its great they made a coin in honor of them. Hopefully he got to see the quarter before he passed.
  12. Been thinking about starting a collection of these old mining company tokens. We work in these mining towns all the time. It be a fun little collection for me. Own a piece of history of some of the towns Ive worked in.
  13. I know Ive shared this one before. But its one of my favorites.
  14. When I collect tokens I like to collect ones from Ky. I dont have very many right now. But it was very cool looking at several on Ebay that were from several little towns I know and have worked in. And these came from those little towns many years before I was born.
  15. I think I may have posted this before. This is the only one Ive found of this one. It is in very poor shape but it is cool to me. Its from my hometown. My grandpa worked and retired from this brickyard. I would love to find a better one. If anyone ever sees any please let me know. It would mean a whole lot to me. OLIVE HILL FIREBRICK CO.
  16. I remember reading something about that. Didnt the Chinese chop them? Something to do with them testing the purity of them or something wasnt it? Its been a while since I read that.
  17. I dont have any but ive always fantasized about owning one. Ive sit and drooled looking at pictures of them. I really enjoy them. Maybe one day Ill be able to get one. It is a very interesting subject to read about. For folks who has a good collection of them it would probably be great to have a referance book to them.
  18. This reminds me of one of our old friends.
  19. Nice one my friend. Great coin to have in the collection.
  20. Was gonna share a DDO 1965 quarter with everyone on the forum but I cant get good pictures of it. Dont know whats going on. My pictures just keep getting blurrier. This phone used to take really good photos. I tried cleaning the lens and everything. Ill post a couple pics here instead of starting a thread. Cant tell from the pics but with a loupe you can see the split serifs plain as day. This is only the second doubled die coin Ive found since I started collecting. Wish I could get better pictures. I may try to get a nice camera this summer or something. Be a while before I can. When I do ill start a thread with this one. You can tell it a little on the E but all the letters have split serifs. Dosent look like the normal strike doubling I constantly see.
  21. Very nice. I got 2 of the cent books like the one in the upper right hand corner. One from 1909 to 1940 and the other from 1941 to 1974.only they are blue.
  22. I hear you old buddy. Those have been some tough ones. Those are some nice looking albums. I shouda got a couple that match like that. Mine are both Whitmans though. I really like the parks album. Its made a whole lot better than the states album. Seems more sturdy and the quarters hold in better. Hard to describe but it has a soft type feel to it. Kinda springy. Probably sounds crazy to people who are reading this right now. I cant really describe it but its much better than the other. Its made out of some kind of foam and the other cardboard I believe.
  23. Definately damage after it left the mint. Looks like someone was playing around with it.
