  1. You guys gonna think Im crazy. I got divorced once and then turned around and remarried the same lady. She can get mean sometimes but I like it rough.
  2. You probably grew up in midevil times didnt you Kurt?
  3. If you find a hoard of them ill furnish a keg if I can help you go through them.
  4. Very interesting article. Could you inmagine getting to open a bag of 5000 of them? That would be so exciting. Thank you for sharing. Were those ever auctioned off or does anyone know what they done with them? I love the design of those. I hope to add one to my collection one of these days. Even if I do have to settle for a lesser grade.
  5. They sure wore him down pretty good.
  6. That was dirty the guy wouldnt let you check it out. You got some sweet tokend by the way. Im planning on expanding my token collection soon. Gonna get into CWT.
  7. Good luck Mohawk. It was good knowing you. Hate to see you leave.
  8. I wondered the same thing. Havent seen him in a few days.
  9. I just read some history about the fugio cents. It was very hard for someone like me to read. Lots of big words. Looks like our own Quintus Arrius wrote it. It was a very interesting story. How James Jarvis couldnt fulfill his contract. And his crooked scheme with Duer. Etc. Also how the cents depriceated and the government was trying to find a buyer for the rest of them. Then it comes to poor old Royal Flint who bought the coins at face value on credit. He ended up getting stuck with nearly four hundred thousand of them. It also says he was unable to pay his whole debt and the sheriff took him away. Just as the story got more interesting it ended. Does anyone know whatever happend to Flints hoard of Fugio cents? Were they melted down or is there any further info on where they went? The main question is, was the story I read accurate? Be cool if there were some still stashed away out there somewhere.
  10. Very cool token. What time period was that from? I really like that token.
  11. I cant wait to go to my first FUN show. Hopfully I can save a little money back this summer and go. I want to bring home a few coins. I just cant go to an event like that and not bring home some coins. It would be like going to a chocolate factory and not getting a bite.
  12. Very cool Kurt. That would be alot of fun to be a judge. Id say youll get to see some really nice stuff.
  13. Heres the obverse. Sorry made 2 post out of it. Wouldnt let me put both in the same post. Ill share the rest on Tue. Give me something to post on Token Tuesday
  14. I just got the tokens in. Both dollar tokens do have the same misspelling as the one shown in the token catalog. They were probably all stamped from the same dies. There probably wasnt a real big order for these. I wouldnt think anyways. Grahn is a very small place with a very small population. Im very thrilled to add some of its history to my collection.
  15. Thats some cool stuff. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Very nice collection. You got some beauties in there. It always facinated me seeing coins that old still in really great shape.
  17. No need to take it out on everyone else here because you got burned. That was no ones fault but your own. My advice would be, if your gonna pay that much money for a coin look it over really good first. If it looks like someone took a wire brush to it dont buy it unless your buying it for melt prices or its a very rare date.
  18. Theres no way a cleaned coin will get a straight grade. It will get a DETAILS grade. If it gets the DETAILS they wont give it the PL or MS designation.
  19. I almost asked that question while back. We find red painted quarters from time to time. I always wondered why people painted them red. Ive also found red painted nickels before.
  20. That one is scratched up to badly for them to fix. Only thing you can do is try to take it back and get your money back for it. It would be hard to get more than melt from it. Collectors try to stay away from those kind of coins. Someone who didnt know what they were doing tried to give it a cleaning at one time and scratched it up badly. Gold is pretty soft. It has to be cleaned professionally by someone like NCS who specializes in conserving coins. Sadly its to late for that one.
  21. I need to research those tools they use to polish the dies. Do they still use emry wheels like in the old times?
  22. Its pouring the snow here right now also. We didnt get much out of fhis storm. Around an inch.
  23. Thank you for that link. Very cool. My papaw also worked at that brickyard. Along with a couple uncles also. A friend of mines papaw almost lost his life there. Got electrocuted. I would love to someday try to find the rest of those tokens for my collection. When those come in I will share them and see if they have the mispelling.
  24. You outta take a trip up here and do some catfishing with me this spring.. We will have a big ole time. Its absoutely beautiful up here in the spring. The weather is perfect.
