  1. Thank you my good friend. I was wondering where they was figuring the area.
  2. I could write a good one. Lol. Hoping to get my unemployment lined out or the weather to straighten up. Down to spam and eggs. Tearing paper plates in half to conserve them. I could be one the best country music writers in this part of good ole Kintuck.
  3. Are you gonna return it? I hate that brother. Thats a serious coin and some serious $$ Hope everything works out.
  4. Very cool you got to see that coin in person. Wonder why the mint put a plug in it? Was it something they were expirimenting with or something?
  5. Im reading @RWBbook From Mine To Mint again and Im on the section talking about striking pressures. For example the quarter eagle needed around 92 tons per square inch. How do they calculate the area of the die? Does that include all 3 dies or just the striking die when they are talking about square inch? Im guessing they are only talking about the face of the die also aint it? Or the entire die? I wish I could find a diagram somewhere that showed pictures that demonstrate how they calculated it. I looked through the internet and couldnt find anything. I wondered also how they figured how many tons was being applied. What kind of equipment was used to measure that sort of thing in the 1800s and early 1900s. Im very facinated by how intelligent and innovative they were in those days.
  6. Man I hate to see that have a spot on it. Thats a heart breaker. Still a very beautiful Jefferson.

In all seriousness I thought this was very interesting. What a sweet dollar. Congrats to the buyer who gets to enjoy owning this beauty. I copied this off an email from Great Collections CoinsSilver Dollars24-Hour Deals$1,000+ Certified Coins$1-$100 Certifed Coins America's First Silver Dollar Acquired for $12 Million by GreatCollections World's Most Valuable Silver Coin and Second Highest Price Ever Paid for a Rare Coin An exceedingly rare coin minted in 1794, widely believed to be the very first Silver Dollar struck by the United States, has sold for a world record $12 million to GreatCollections. Only about 140 silver dollars exist today out of the original mintage of 1,758, and this is the only example designated Specimen by Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS) who assigned a grade of SP-66. It is also approved by Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC). The famous coin was the first to break the $10 million mark, selling for $10,016,875 in a 2013 auction. Three years earlier, it had traded privately for $7.85 million. In both prior transactions, it set the record for the highest price paid for a coin, until the 1933 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle was auctioned last year for $18.9 million. The seller of the 1794 Silver Dollar was well-known collector Bruce Morelan, who had previously sold a trio of rare coins for $13.35 million to GreatCollections in November last year that included the finest 1913 Liberty Head Nickel, one of only three in private hands. Prior to Morelan, the coin was owned by numismatic legends including Virgil Brand, Col. E.H.R. Green, W.W. Neil and both Amon Carter, Senior and Junior. Ian Russell, president of GreatCollections said, "Without question, this is America's most coveted Silver Dollar, and it gave me chills closing the transaction for this piece of history. This absolutely defines 'museum-quality' in fact, aside from the unique specimen-striking, it's substantially better than the examples in the Smithsonian and American Numismatic Association collections. The new owner is thrilled." John Albanese, founder of Certified Acceptance Corporation (CAC), negotiated the transaction on behalf of Morelan last week. Albanese said, "I'm very pleased to be involved in this deal, officially the highest price paid for any CAC-approved coin in a private transaction, and I know it's bittersweet for Bruce to pass the torch to the next owner." The historic deal took just days to complete. "I called Ian about the coin a week ago Sunday, and by Thursday, we were in agreement. Then it was just a matter of logistics to securely transport the rarity." The coin market has gained new strength over the past few months, with a large number of new collectors entering the market from other collectibles and hobbies. This was the second important 1794 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar purchased by GreatCollections in the past six months. At an ANA auction in August, GreatCollections paid $6.6 million for another example, ranking as the seventh highest price ever paid for a coin at auction
  13. He told me mine looked like MD. I dont think it is. I see it everyday coin hunting. This dont have the MD typical look to it. But hes been into way longer than I have. If he says mines MD then it probably is. We will see what Wexler says about yours and then we will know for sure.
  14. Actually I do. We can stack some books or something under it and fix that.
  15. I watch a couple youtubers who mess with scammers. They are very funny. One is Scammer Revolts. He gets into their computers and deletes their files. Sometimes if hes fast enough before they catch on he will lock them out of their own computers. Or upload several pictures and things on their screen where their files used to be. The other one is Kitboga. He will keep them going for days sometimes. Descise his voice as an old lady or something. He uses a fake computer and they think they have a real target. Then when it gets to the part of giving them gift cards he will redeme them while they are watching. Its hilarous. If anyone likes that sort of thing you outta watch him. I really enjoy his videos. Heres a screen shot of him if anyone is interested. His grandma was a victim and thats why he does this. To get a little payback and waste their time. Also shows how scammers work.
  16. Weve had thunder snow here before. Its pretty cool.
  17. Stay safe my friend. Your more than welcome to come stay with us till its over. If you dont mind usind the bathroom in a bucket for a couple days till I get plumbing fixed.
  18. Ive won cruises, hit the lottery in Ethiopia, or wherever it was, had the warranty run out on my 25 year old automobile, and all sorts of other things. They wont give up. They talked dirty to my mom. I had a friend die of a heart attack over these scammers. He was sending them thousands of dollars and lost almost everything he had because of the threats. I wish there was some way to stop these thugs. I got to now that I wont answer my phone if I dont know the number.
  19. Thats awful. Anyone should know just by the price alone its to good to be true. Aint noone gonna sell a multiple coins that are $500 or maybe more, Im not familar with these, for $30.
  20. Sad the crooks will get a feller any way they can. Theres definately something in the gravy on this one.
  21. We supposed to get some to. Dont know how much. I sure wish it would hold off. I finally found septic tank. Would have been able to dig it rest of the way out if had another good hard day.
  22. I agree with Bear. You can buy one guaranteed and slabbed bout as cheap or cheaper and know the grade for sure. The dealers get a discount getting them graded is the reason they sell them so cheap. Where me or you would have to pay around $90 or something. I think thats bout what it is. Shipping insurance and all. Not counting shipping and insurance getting it there. Then have to wait a couple months to get them back and may be a lower grade then desired.
