A new one I just got in. A variety on a variety is always fun. Pics aren’t great I screen shot them from my website on my phone.

@leeg I just got an interesting commemorative in the mail today. It’s the Eliasberg Pan Pac. It’s in a PCGS 64/CAC. The coin is appealing but clearly the eliasberg connection was neat. If you need any extra pics for your book let me know.

Geez. I need to try and get mine a grade bump. I have a Proof 68 for this one, and it’s the most flawless coin I think I have seen. This one hurts your eyes to look at it. I love this coin, but I guess I could be persuaded to part with it for a steal at say $50k 😂. It’s currently at CAC, but I can easily ship it to you as soon as it gets back.

Agreed. Some may say 10% is too high, but it could be debatable. I think his plan is pretty good. Heck the fact he has a plan puts him so far above the pack it’s sad. Personally I don’t do 10%,  but I don’t think anyone can say he is foolish.

This is a sound strategy it seems to me. At 10% and a healthy portfolio you are doing things the right way. The 10% PMs won’t see the gains or losses of the other investments, but it’s hard to argue that having a small amount as part of a larger strategy is a bad idea.

Holy Batman it’s another error. An insignificant die scratch and struck using dies from the wrong state. Call Ken Potter Immediately!!

Spitting Buffalos are nothing more than over hyped die cracks.  Yes, they are an error.  Are minor die crack errors uncommon? No. What's the difference between this crack and one on a cent or nickel? No difference.  Why pay a premium for a common type of error? No idea.
If you like collecting minor errors, like die cracks, filled dies, etc, that's great.  Learn from them and enjoy them.  If you're paying a premium because you think they'll go up in value, then just remember beanie babies, or baseball cards from the early 90s.
Or worse yet, don't be the person repeating the hype and trying to sell these to new collectors who don't know any better.  Those people are some of the worst this hobby has to offer.  Preying on others for their own financial gain is no better than the Chinese counterfeiters IMO

I source coins from every direction... coin shows, auctions, LCS, dealer websites, eBay.  I have not been long in this hobby, but one thing is for sure.... if you want coins that are good for the grade at competitive prices, you have to look everywhere.  I like coin shows because I can see lots of coins in hand in one place, but the internet is a vehicle that cannot be ignored.

Yes I think Al’s answer is correct. They have silver proof sets, and then limited edition silver proof sets. I think, and don’t hold me to this, that the limited includes the ASE for the year and the regular doesn’t. But like you I don’t fool with much of that so I may be wrong.

A big problem in this hobby is peer pressure. I don’t necessarily think half of what is graded needs to be graded, and I don’t think we need CAC in most cases. However if you want to ever sell a coin, or compete in registry sets, you have to play the game. I participate in the registry kind of but not seriously. However I do like selling coins. The coin market is extremely quick to self impose additional constraints on itself. You won’t convince someone today a coin is strong for grade if it doesn’t have a green bean. If it isn’t cac’d it’s immediately seen as a lesser coin. And we do it to ourselves. But when the masses decide that’s what they want we have no choice but to suck it up or lose money.

10% is probably too high for most people.  However, if a person has the investment cash flows and diversifies the remaining 90%, it's not reckless for most people.

I am in agreement with @Woods020 the grade levels you are looking for would most likely be someone's mistake submission, it makes no financial sense to pay to have one graded and slabbed at that low a grade.   But best of luck on your search, what you seek may well be out there you just may have to search a lot of hay.

I get that, but here is the thing.   John is not grading the coins, he is merely giving some fineness to the opinion already given by the three TPG graders, in essence a fourth opinion on top of the combined three.  And he is not doing it alone, he has others that review the coins prior to his look, much like the finalizer at a TPG.   So to say that one man has the power of the all mighty is; well a bit of a stretch.   If he was actually grading coins by himself as say Alan Hager did at ACG, that would be quite a different story altogether.
Hero worship, meh, that is your bias talking.   Are there some that may worship JA, perhaps, but if you want to rail against hero worship you need to talk to people that worship the Kardashian's, or all the massively overpaid basketball players, or the PCGS fan boys.   Now those people are really sick and have some serious hero worship issues.

I’m on record calling the NBA the unwatchable sport. I’ve never done business with the P-people, and I can’t tell any two Lardassians apart. I may have misspelled that name, or perhaps not.
