RWB I can see close AM on two but not the third on the reverse.

There is no AM issue for wheat backs, only the Lincoln Memorial.

Woods020 reacted to Just Bob in 1954-S penny Triple Die Dots
According to Variety Vista, the reverse hub used in 1954 was used from '09 - '55. There would be no "close-AM / wide-AM" varieties.
Here is a link to the page with a list of all four reverse hubs

Woods020 reacted to Oldhoopster in Jefferson nickel with no visible date and the nickel is way smaller than a regular nickel
I never felt there was much point in debating the cause if PMD. Just want to point out that the editors of error-ref (Mike Diamond, Fred Weinberg, Jon Sullivan, et al) felt it was significant enough to include a section explaining it in the Non-Error section
It could have occurred in anything where the coin is frequently tumbled, pump, rock tumbler without grinding media, etc. Dryer coin seems to have become the generic term for any sort of tumbling PMD

Its a dryer coin. Caught between the inner and outer drums of a dryer (usually commercial). PMD

The tolerance range is +/- 0.13 GRAMS, not percent. The people telling you it's a percentage are wrong

Woods020 got a reaction from Hoghead515 in 1835 Capped Bust Dime Attribution?
Does anyone have a good attribution guide for these? I would like to determine die marriage. I need to buy a resource if anyone has suggestions or an online option? I looked and didn't see any.

Woods020 got a reaction from GoldFinger1969 in Is Ebay a good site to base coin worth off of?
There are coins worth hundreds of thousands listed on eBay, and are legitimate. The problem is sellers have to mark things up 10% to cover fees. This isn’t a big issue with a $20 coin, but gets to quickly be an issue for higher end coins. I think a lot of dealers list them on eBay for marketing thinking smart collectors will go to their site and see it is cheaper. I do that myself. Surprisingly people pay eBay prices often, and it would be better for me and them to go to my website.
With that said agree with all others. eBay prices are going to be higher to cover the fees. People still buy at those prices so they are true comps, but still high. Other auction houses will have better info on higher end coins. Greysheet and auction houses don’t do much with coins under say atleast $100. eBay is the go to place for moderns and lower priced coins and that is your best bet. So really depends on what you want comps on.

@Woods020 and @Just Bob - Thanks for this! I have a capped bust dime to attribute, and this helps me too! Appreciated!!!!

Variety Plus is a much better resource than most of us realize.
I agree with JR-5. It is the only example on which the top of the numeral "5" is not curved. As is my habit though, I started with the T-I relationship on the reverse first, so it took me a bit to get there. Had I started with the obverse, I would have found it much sooner.
Attribution is one of my favorite things to do when someone posts a new coin, and Variety Plus is a big help.

VarietyPlus is linked to Explorer, but it's a stand-alone site in its own right.

I am selling faster than I can replace with any quality, so if you have coins for sale let me know. I try and offer very fair prices, usually above the larger dealers. I only focus on US coinage, and predominately in older (not modern) coins in higher grades. If you have something let me know before you send to auction or go to a dealer.

You have a good attribution guide at your fingertips.

I have an idea which one it is, but I will let you have the fun of looking for yourself.

My part of Alabama is fairly well connected with Georgia. The Gadsden Rainbow City club has as many Georgians as Alabamans. And I’m just one ridge of hills west of Gadsden. These folks are the original snake flag “Don’t Tread on Me” folks.
