Mohawk got a reaction from Alex in PA. in Proof Silver Eagles and Coin Flips
What Kurt said exactly. You can definitely submit them in the original capsules. I've done that with many moderns for my little resale venture. And here's NGC's Service and Fees page to help you with the rest of it:

I wouldn't be surprised in the least.....there are companies that slab video games, video game consoles and action figures. Why not expired credit cards? If there's a buck to be made, someone will do it eventually.

There's probably someone who collects expired credit cards now. There are people who collect Starbucks gift cards without balances. I used to work for Starbucks and I sold my Partner Card (which is a card given to employees which is never supposed to come onto the collectible markets.....I wasn't going back, I knew it and I kept the card) after I resigned for a couple of hundred bucks! I'm really not kidding.

Mohawk got a reaction from Woods020 in How do you grade Peace Silver Dollars?
Thanks Roger!!! That's good to know and that's exactly what I will do if I ever have to grade another Indian $2.50 or $5. And, if my life up to this point has taught me anything, it's that I never know when I may find myself in just that particular situation!

I must have been in a time warp. I thought nickels had the shield reverse. I’m ready to be beaten. How did I miss this🙀😂

And here is my favorite copper piece (well, orichalcum brass) that I own. I have a thing for green copper ancients. It's one of the centerpieces of my Faustina the Younger collection:

Hi Don!!! It's me!!! And I'm glad to see you're still here as well, my friend! The dissertation went well and if I could change my name to Dr. Mohawk, everyone would know it!!! But my life went off the rails during the last phase......I lost both my stepmom and mom to cancer within months of each other, so I was kind of messed up for a while, hence my disappearance. However, I'm doing much better now and I'm glad to be back!!!

Mohawk reacted to Jason Abshier in CAC service ?
Basically if you had say MS64 coin then you had same coin same date same grade MS64 but it looks way better than other MS64s should it sell it for same price ? It maybe possibly MS65? CAC basically points out which coins are in higher limits for that grade help open up the market for more better “eye appeal” for US coins only .

You had best hope they aren't rusty, because--and I'm not doing this to be pedantic, but to help you with precise terms--rust is iron oxide, which can only happen to iron. You might be better served to say "corroded," which can refer to any form of chemical reaction that has affected the surface. (At least in my chemistry layman's understanding. There is probably a more precise definition that I don't know, and which someone might provide. In the meantime, if you think the surface has reacted with elements so as to alter it, that's what we'd normally call corrosion.)

The ones I've encountered in my life that I really hate trying to grade are U.S. Indian $2.50 and $5 and Ottoman gold 25, 50 and 100 Kurush. With both of those, it can be extremely difficult to discern a high AU coin from a low to mid MS coin, at least for me. When I worked at the brick and mortar, those Indian gold series were my grading nightmare!!! And the Ottoman gold was entirely self inflicted. I never collected Indian gold, but I did collect those damned 25, 50 and 100 Kurushes! Those are the series I've had to grade that just drive me nuts!!!

Mohawk reacted to RWB in please help identify!
How was it tested? What is the density? It should be 19.32 grams/cm3 if pure gold; somewhat less depending on alloy and actual gold content. (Check the story about Archimedes.) What caused the discoloration?
XRF will only show the surface unless used carefully. Jeweler measurements with a handheld XRF are not reliable.

These are easier to grade if you concentrate on the high points - the field and the Native American's cheek just under the eye. Too many try to "force" the sunk relief design into a normal sunken field coin.

Mohawk reacted to RWB in Is "lostgallion.com" safe to buy from?
Yep. The question is: do we ruin a genuine ancient coin by jewelry use? I think the answer is "No." Absolutely no one will detect a well made replica worn in a bezel. A very few might ask about it. If so, just comment on the striking designs and their meaning - not need to tell them it's a replica.
