This is why I said it looked Roman to me at first glance. I was just looking at some of these last week, and the OP's coin seemed to ring a bell in my mind. But you and John know much more about ancients than I do. Looking forward to seeing what it actually turns out to be.

At first glance, it looks like a Roman Denarius, but let's back up a bit. The best way for you to get an accurate ID is to repost your pictures - cropped and clear. Cropping will enlarge them a bit and remove all of the unnecessary background; improving the focus will help viewers to see the important details. Next, posting the weight in grams, and the diameter in millimeters, will go a long way toward helping to narrow down the hundreds of possible choices. There are a few very good ancient coin identifiers on this forum, (not me) and they will be happy to help you, if you will help them.

They mean something to the guys who own the company, but not to the coin collecting public. Designating coins as "90 percent Full Bands," "4 Full Steps," and other such nonsense is just a way to take money from unknowing buyers.

The percentage of dealers who pulled out of the show was very minimal to the amount who attended so no I don't think it had any impact on the show. As a matter of fact, I don't recall seeing any empty tables so I believe the dealers who cancelled had their tables given/or sold to other dealers. I don't know if I would say buyers found "good deals" since as I mentioned, quality coin were selling for premiums. But since I was able to find some great material, and I sold a lot of coins as well, I am deducting that many collectors went away satisfied. As I also mentioned, the show was busy and active, and everyone I spoke with, both large and small dealers, had a great show - but that is not unusual for the FUN show, even when we weren't in a pandemic.

I am glad you were able to have a good show, considering all of the late-date pullouts. Did the fact that some of the more prominent names/dealers were missing have much of an impact on the show, in your opinion? Were buyers finding good deals? Did the smaller dealers seem to have a better show than normal? (This is what I assumed would happen, so I am just trying to see if my theory was correct.)

You can certainly submit the coin and we can help you. You’ll need a basic membership and then grading fees/shipping to send it in. Probably looking at $100 give or take depending on some factors.

The complexity would come in it having any hope. To date the grading services have not been willing to certify that this exists. You would more than likely need to make a case, which would involve something like finding mint records showing 1909 dies had been used in 1910. The fact that Coinbuf pointed out the records say the opposite makes this an extremely unlikely endeavor. I can’t and won’t say impossible, but I will say the burden of proof would likely fall on you to prove this is legitimate and so far no one has been able to. I think based on what I’ve heard and read that I would not spend my time and money on this if it was me.

With all of that said, and again this is very very unlikely to go anywhere, if you are adamant there are two gentleman on here that I would consult.

@RWBis a numismatic researcher and author. He is very skilled at digging up mint records and would be who I asked if I needed to find something about dies used or any mint records for that matter.

@DWLangeis who would more than likely authenticate the coin if it were real at our hosts, NGC. He was also referenced by an earlier member in writing a book on Lincoln cents. He can tell you definitively if NGC would even consider the existence of a 1910 VDB.

The Green Duck Company was formed in 1906 in Chicago by George Greenburg and Henry Duckgeischel, former colleagues at S.D.Childs, one of the premier diesinking and engraving businesses in Chicago. The new company put itself on the map by getting contracts for campaign buttons from both political parties in the 1908 presidential election. The company continued making beer tap knobs, signs, pinback buttons, watch fobs, and other metal novelties in various locations around Chicago until it was sold to Ero Industries, in the 1960s. Ero moved the company to a new plant in Hernando, Mississippi. It was sold again in the mid 70s to investors Elliot Sklar and Ronald Stein. The focus of the company shifted to mainly minting Mardi Gras doubloons and casino slot machine tokens and poker chips. It was sold to a British firm in the 90s.
These are examples of their work featuring the company name and/or logo.
