Those are nice family heirlooms that don't need to be imprisoned in a slab. Enjoy them as is.

Those are impressive looking medals. I particularly like the Armand Caque piece.

No fair. You can't start a thread like this and only post one side of three medals. You have to post lots of pictures. Let's see 'em....

Checking the price guide, I see variety prices for some coins but not all. Quite a few under the Morgan heading, but not many under Bust Halves, for example. I assume a variety would have to have enough documented sales in a short period of time to establish a trend, in order to be listed.
What coins are you looking to price?

Since the US Mint doesn't specifically say which astronaut this is we know that Neal Armstrong didn't do that in his spacesuit so this is actually independent visual verification that it could only be the one and only Alan Shepard..
Wait - what? Did you just say that, because there is a die crack on your coin, the person portrayed is no longer Neil Armstrong, but is now Alan Shepard?

Yeah I believe that’s what it means and your point?
I believe the point is that Breen invented many varieties that have later been found to be merely a figment of his imagination. The jury is still out on just what your coin really is, regardless of what you personally feel that it is. Hey, most everyone who posts on this forum would be tickled pink if you actually found a D/S, but apparently, very few think one actually exists. If that hurts your feelings, you may want to post on a coin forum whose members do not tell you the truth about what they think. Here, you are likely to get the unvarnished truth.
Either way, good luck with your future collecting.

Last November I submitted 16+- 2021 Morgan dollars for grading and encapsulation. This was my 2nd shipment. 1st coins received in 35+- days after submission. My 2nd submission had an ERROR morgan dollar in it. There was a press mark on the neck. I had showed it to a few people prior to submission for grading. The exact same error that NGC had "discovered", shortly after my submission, funny it looked exactly like MY coin. Anyway, I received the 2nd shipment 3+ months later from NGC. The error coin was MISSING. I know, it's my fault for trusting NGC to not steal coins. I submitted all the coins in bulk packaging, and I did not separate the ERROR coin. An employee realized he could STEAL the coin, replacing it with a regular Morgan. Somebody at NGC stole my ERROR coin. If there is only ERROR coin out there that NGC published as the one they found. Then it is a STOLEN COIN, shame on you, the STAFF at NGC! You stole the coin from ME!
Please provide a link to the article that shows NGC announcing the find.

3 legged Buffalo?
Don't care for the moniker, since the bison actually has four legs, but one has been polished away. Don't think a coin struck by an over polished die is worth a premium just because someone came up with a name for it, either. But, I don't control the market or collectors' tastes, so to each his/her own. It definitely is not my place to define another's collecting preferences.

I am one who does not care for cute names attached to varieties. "Bugs bunny" , "Speared eagle", and the like are not my cup of tea.

That looks like an extreme case of strike doubling. It is not a doubled die.

I'm sure you can still buy it. Your finished bullet will be hard but slightly light from molds designed for #2 alloy. You won't find actual print type metal anymore but you should be able to purchase linotype alloy in ingot form I would guess.
How does it compare to wheel weight metal?
-
The "3" is the wrong shape for a 1943, so it must be a '48. Looks like it lost a good bit of metal (weight) from damage, and it could have been a touch under weight to begin with.

Congrats!

I am glad you were able to find a van. Beats having to catch a ride with some polka band from Wisconsin.
I am out of the loop, apparently. What happened with the airlines?

No, it is not. You should send it to me for proper disposal.

The Micro-S variety is a no-fee designation.

Is the S positioned correctly “east and west” for you?
I would feel more comfortable making that call if I could see the entire obverse of the coin in the picture that I posted. (Which, by the way, originally came from the same place that JKK linked in his first post.) It looks very close, but I can't say for sure it is an exact match. And, obviously, "close" is the same as "not" in this case.

I don’t see a match for any of the four. I’m back to an “attached” mint mark. But @JKK is correct. The only possibility is #4, but I have problems with that too. I’d like to see the #4 picture without the moronic dashed white lines on it.

According to Variety Vista, the reverse hub used in 1954 was used from '09 - '55. There would be no "close-AM / wide-AM" varieties.
Here is a link to the page with a list of all four reverse hubs
