I WILL SEND PICTURES AS SOON AS I LEARN HOW
I feel for you, Brother.
Look at the area below where you type your reply. If on a phone, touch the "Add Files" tab, then find your picture on your phone and touch it, then touch "insert" or whatever you phone says. On a computer, click on "choose files" and follow the above directions. (You will either double-click on your picture, or click "open.")
Edit: remember to place your camera on something to steady it, then crop your picture to expand/enlarge it and remove any distracting background.

Maybe it is from New Orleans,
The French Quarter
That was funny, even though "cappe" is Italian, and "diem" is Latin.

Should I delete this or leave it up?
Leave it up. It may help a future collector.
And, if I haven't already told you, "Welcome to the forum."

Ditto. I place my bid, and then forget about it until the auction is over.

As everyone knows, my finds happen at two speeds, and two speeds only, feast, or famine. All or nothing. Go big, or go home. That's it, just two speeds. Although sometimes, you get lighter days. So maybe feast, famine, and well fed. Those three. And actually, sometimes you get really light days, too. So feast, famine, well fed, and lightly fed. To be honest, some days can be moderately heavy, as well. So, feast, famine, well fed, lightly fed, moderately fed, but that's it. I think. Sometimes things can be lightly heavy, as well....
Been watching Monty Python re-runs?

Viola: stringed musical instrument, shaped like a violin, but slightly larger.
Voila: an expression meaning, " there it is!"
Walla: half of the name of a city in Washington.

Welcome to the forum.
I am sorry to inform you that your coin is a fake. You did not show a picture of the reverse, but there is enough evidence on the obverse to show that it is not real. Compare your coin to the picture below. Pay close attention to the hair detail. That should be all you need to convince you that your coin does not match a real one.

I didn't even turn my computer on this past weekend, so I missed whatever happened. No need to lose any sleep over missing it, though. Another one will come along soon enough...

Please post links to any websites that you have seen which have examples of people actually paying "lots of money" for coins like this. (Your example is a large date, minted in Philadelphia, most likely a brass example, judging from the appearance. It is not rare).

Which coin are we talking about now - the half dollar, or the half cent?

It looks like it was intended to produce both the 8 TF and then 7 TF coins, including re-striking existing 8 TF coins with the 7 TF die, as well as starting to strike coins with the 79 Rev later in the year.
There would be no need for the mint to re-strike existing coins. Are you perhaps referring to the 7/8 tail feather reverse that RWB mentioned above? As he stated in his post, these were the result of existing 8-feather dies being re-hubbed with a slightly different design which had 7 tail feathers.

I know it is not being a smart collector to just buy something because you like it.
Actually, that sounds smart to me.

Just Bob -- Very easy to figure out....
Provenance is the capital of Rhode Island. There is, or was, a large pencil factory in the city -- I mean they made a lot of regular pencils, not just really big-size pencils ---Anyway the guy who marked Ray Tatum's home fuse box (breaker box) panel so the electricians would get the correct fuse hooked to the correct electrical line, used one of these Provenance, RI pencils and so the pencil notations had a provenance traceable (or pencilable) back to the factory in Provenance, RI.
BTW "Furthering" is a town a few miles outside of Provenance, RI. That's where the electrician lived at the time he wrote on the fuse box with a pencil made in Provenance, RI. Note that if Furthering, RI were NOT outside Provenance, but were INSIDE Provenance, then Furthering would have been named "Nearthering" and not "Furthering."
Ok, that makes it all quite clear. Thanks.

It looks as if the guy who filled in my fuse box panel used the same pencil to fail at furthering provenance.
I'm sorry, but I don't decipher cryptic sentences like this very well. What are you saying here?

Farther from the entrance - cheaper table rates - smaller dealers - more collector oriented. These are the guys that’ll mostly still be here on Saturday afternoon.
Are there very many dealers selling exonumia? How about paper money?

My guess would be die erosion, not hub doubling.

cleaning I do think takes away originality
Without question it does, and it diminishes collector value, as well.

I agree with trying to keep the invoices - and even the original packaging, if it is feasible. If I were purchasing your collection, or even one piece, I would certainly appreciate having original documentation - for the history, and for any future use.
