A more difficult "horse" type coin...
In the past week I was able to pick up an example of an Italian type coin that has been on my radar for quite some time. It is admittedly "crusty", but the design is simply stunning -- as I can say for many an Italian coin.
This is a wonderful type coin minted in Italy from 1926-1934. However, for collectors, it was effectively minted from 1926-1930, as the 1931-1934 pieces are exceedingly rare with a mintage of only 50 pieces from each year. The 1928
Coins submitted to NCS
Greetings once more fellow collectors. If you recall about a month ago I posted B4 photos of 2 Franklins Proofs I was submitting for conservation at NCS then onto grading by NGC. Coins arrived today and NCS did it again !!!! Fantastic job. I have attached the B4 and after photos so you can see the fantastic job NCS has done again. This is the second time I have used them and I would not hesitate one moment to use them for any conservation job one may have.

A little plug for a great org.
Folks,
Just became acquainted with the Chopmark Collectors Club through the editor of their wonderful "Chopmark News" quarterly publication. This publication is not the usual 8 or 12 page newsletter with a bit of recent news. Instead it is a full-fledged publication with about 40 pages of very scholarly information about all things concerning chopmarked Trade Dollars/Oriental Coins, etc. One of the issues even showed a Peace Dollar with chopmark. The French National Day (La Fête Nationale) or Bastille Day is celebrated on July 14th. This 1792 Five Sols tradesman token depicts the Storming of the Bastille (July 14, 1789) and the establishment of the short-lived constitutional monarchy in France.
The lettering on the obverse reads: Vivre Libres Ou Mourir -- 14 Juillet 1790 (Live Free or Die -- July 14, 1790)
The obverse depicts a seated liberty wearing a helmet, a shield with three fleur-de-lis at her side, holding a scroll represent
another piece from the same mint set
Here is the reverse of the 1949-P. The obverse is just as well.

Can't show off the obverse without showing the reverse.
Here it is the reverse of the 1949-S MS66 or so. No it is not going to find a FT designation but another in the set will.
Here's the pic guys.

Nothing graded but maybe later on.
Friends.
I went to the shop to see what I could grab up this time. I got a bag full of mint sets that were liquidated for expenses. One set was very special as it is a triple mint set from 1949 - P,D,&S. The set was contained in a old cardboard page made for a notebook back in the 50s or 60s. The nickles, dimes, and quarters were well toned and it is a cool looking set.
Here is a pic of one of the "CANDY" dimes in the set.
ENJOY---RICK

Wow, Someone got a great deal
Hi Everyone. heritage just sold a NGC MS65RD 1955 Double Die Obverse for $13000 and with buyers premium total was $14950. if you look at the most recent auction records for this coin in this grade someone walk away with an amazing coin for an amazing price. It has always bee my dream to own this coin in this particular grade and hopefully I will find one when the time is right. I really had thought about pulling the trigger on this one but i would have had to
Latest Addition to my Morgan Collection
This one took a while to find but I am very happy I own it now. I might think about getting it reholdered because this one is a little scratched up.

This full blazing red Superb GEM is the finest proof One Centavo that I have ever seen. Philippine expert and author Neil Shafer describes this specimen as "a fabulous coin, just a wonderful beauty".
This coin is absolutely breathtaking with pristine deep mirror fields. Conservatively graded by PCGS it could just as easily have graded PR66 RD + or PR67 RD.
The attached picture really does not do this coin justice. It fails to capture the blazing red color and wonderful eye appeal of this
And it is lower than I expected
Folks,
Saw that Modern C0in Mart have posted prices for their NGC Slabbed 75th Anniversary SAE sets.
PF69 sets - 199.00
PF70 sets - 249.00
That MS69 set price is ALMOST inexpensive enough to get my interest. I will wait a bit though, I want to pay just a little bit less. They begin shipping on 10/03.
Happy Weekend Everybody,
Comic Con Beckons,

... or new additions to a project set!
Coin Journal for the week of 07/08/2012 through 07/15/2012This has been an interesting week for me. It saw the beginning of a new collecting interest, the completion of a set and the resumption of work on another. The completion of my 2012 Proof Set was accomplished early this year. I had several of the required coins already sent in and certified from the Birth Year set earlier this year. I was very disappointed that NGC has not acknowledged the birth ye
Full Blazing Red GEM PROOF One Centavos are ULTRA RARE and this specimen is among the finest that has been offered in many years. In the past five years this is the first time that I have seen a PR66 Red One Centavo offered at a major auction. As soon as I saw this rare beauty I knew that it had to be mine.
All One Centavo proofs in full red are truly special coins. This is clearly demonstrated by the NGC and PCGS population reports. If you look at the total number of One Centavo proofs graded
Anyone else get one?
Good Evening,
At 6:37 CST tonight I missed a call. It went to voicemail. When retrieving the vm I found out it was Teletrade reminding me of the Monday/Tuesday auction. I don't buy much from them, but I have never had a call from them reminding me of an auction before. Are they trying to increase business?
Did anyone else get one? Just curious.
Enjoy your coins,
Todd

Sometimes looking at both the lable and the coin is a important.
Yesturday I visited my local -- raw coin -- seller and picked up six WWII Wartime Cents (Steel); all in pretty good condition. I also picked up two sets of WWII Wartime Cents (P-D-S)that were in singler cardboard 3-hole holders. All were purchased less then ten dollars. Twelve coin in total.
Along with the WWII cents I picked up six additional Cents dating from 1920 to 1948. Each card holder for these coins had the date an
My 2 latest additions
Hi Everyone. Today was a very good day for me as the details of a coin deal I had made awhile back finally came together. My 2 newest additions are a NGC MS69RD 1994 Lincoln Memorial with a population of 1 and a NGC MS69RD 1994D Lincoln Memorial with a population of 3. These 2 new coins just hit the population report about the first week of June and it was really exciting to see them added to the population report. I want to give a big shout out to Mark from datentype
21 Coin Salute!!!
Overall very happy, especially with the early clad FT dimes! I'll chronicle a few of these in seperate posts like 1972-D MS 67 FT, 1989-P MS 68 FT and my second 1973 Jefferson in MS 66 5FS this year. Technically, I believe this coin to be superior than the one I submitted a couple of months ago. The quarters were a bit disappointing, all though the 94-P is a tough one in 66 and higher grades. The 1980 dimes are a sore subject with me - I can't seem to get above a 66 with thes
My Eisenhower Proof set is complete.
It's hard to believe I haven't written in my journal for about six months but it's been one of those years. Time seems to have just melted through my fingers and any extra money just doesn't exist. But I have been squirreling a little money away, a dollar here and a dollar there with only one goal in mind, get a PF69UC 1973S Silver Eisenhower Dollar to complete my set. Finally, I actually have something to write about again. Last week I was able to pick up
I doubted a CAC NGC VF-25 1895-S Morgan Dollar I won at auction until I got it in the hand.
Greetings everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July holiday. A few weeks ago, I won a VF-25 1895-S Morgan Dollar through Heritage Auctions. The 1895-S is one of four coins I identified as a key coin in my Morgan Dollar collection. As is my custom, I always try to buy the key coins for my collection as soon as practical. In this instance though, my overzealous desire to buy an 1895-S Morgan

1908 was the last year that USA/Philippine proof sets were produced and the only year that the reduced size and weight silver coins (Ten Centavos,Twenty Centavos, Fifty Centavos, and Peso) were struck in Proof.
Five hundred 1908 USA/Philippine Proof sets were minted. The seven coin 1908 USA/Philippine Proof set (Half Centavo, Centavo, Five Centavos, Ten Centavos, Twenty Centavos, Fifty Centavos, and Peso) was produced at the Philadelphia Mint. Since no business strikes of USA/Philippine coins
